Most Anticipated Superhero Movies Coming In 2022

Mumbai, December 26 - Superhero films are widely popular among movie lovers, and the reason behind their popularity isn't surprising knowing how they often depict ideas about magic and the fantasy world. The year 2021 was the year of superhero movies that saved the world of entertainment, which went through the worst of the years in 2020 because of the covid-19 pandemic.

It was the superhero movies that kept the ball rolling and entertainment alive throughout the year 2021, which was all about kickstarting the engine before the full flight. On top of that, the entertainment in 2021 couldn't have asked for a better ending than a superhero movie in the form of "Spider-Man: No Way Home" crossing a billion mark at the global box office, becoming the first to do so since December 2019.

There is so much to look forward to for fans of superhero movies next year, which will see some of the most anticipated films one has asked for. Being the major studio behind superhero films, Marvel delivered 5 blockbuster titles in 2021, and the onus will again be on it along with DC to keep the fans on the edge of their seats.

Let's take a look at 5 most anticipated superhero movies releasing in the year 2022 (theatrical) -

The Flash - The fans across the world are loving "Spider-Man: No Way Home" because it brings the multiverse concept into the game, in which things of the past start colliding in the present timeline. In "The Flash", Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) travels back in time to prevent his mother's murder, which brings unintended consequences.

While this DC movie might not match the legacy of Marvel/Sony's "No Way Home", it could come close to it. The teaser trailer has already revealed that not only will there be three different versions of the Flash, but Michael Keaton's Batman will return too along with Ben Affleck's Batman. The Warner Bros. Picture will be hitting theaters on November 4, 2022.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness - If "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was just a trailer of how the multiverse works, the Doctor Strange sequel will be the full picture. The first teaser/trailer of the film was recently released and it gave an idea about how the film is going to be. The fans around are particularly very excited for "The Multiverse Of Madness".

"Doctor Strange 2" is arguably the most anticipated MCU film coming in 2022. Benedict Cumberbatch will return to reprise his role as Doctor Strange along with Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch. Directed by Sam Raimi, the film is scheduled to hit screens on May 6, 2022, after being delayed by 2 months over production changes.

The Batman - Who can forget director Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" trilogy featuring Christian Bale as Batman. Despite the "Batman" character featuring in multiple DC films from 2016 to 2021, Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" (2012) was surprisingly the last solo Batman film. "The Batman" is a reboot of the Batman film franchise, and not only that, it's the first time that a movie will truly depict the character doing detective work and earning his moniker of the World's Greatest Detective.

The movie features Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, alongside Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman while Paul Dano plays Riddler and Colin Farrell returns as Penguin. Directed by Matt Reeves, the movie opens on March 4, 2022. Interestingly, "The Batman" is one of the lowest budgeted DC films with a budget of just $100 million.

Black Adam - Black Adam seems to be a film to watch out for in 2022. It is going to be an important movie in the DC Extended Universe, as it'll introduce the titular anti-hero into the universe, and he just happens to be Shazam's nemesis. Headed by Dwayne Johnson for the first time as a superhero, "Black Adam" is fascinating to fans at the moment with first looks and teaser. It will debut in theaters on July 29, 2022.

Thor: Love And Thunder - The MCU film is going to be special as it marks the comeback of many past Thor characters after missing out in "Thor: Ragnarok". Chris Hemsworth returns as the former king of Asgard/Thor while the movie also introduces some fascinating new characters. Christian Bale has switched teams from DC and will be playing the primary antagonist, Gorr The God Butcher.

Director Taika Waititi said the film would adapt elements from Jason Aaron's run on The Mighty Thor comic book, which sees Natalie Portman's character Jane Foster take on the mantle and powers of Thor whilst suffering from cancer. Waititi later described "Thor: Love And Thunder" as a romance film. It will debut on July 8, 2022.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - A sequel to the highest-grossing solo superhero movie of all time, "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" went through major changes after the original Black Panther, actor Chadwick Boseman died last year. There are rumors that King T'Challa won't be recast in the honor of Boseman. The movie, however, promises to be as big as the original 2018 movie. Directed by Ryan Coogler, the movie opens on November 11, 2022.
