Rajinikanth's much-awaited, "Annaatthe" is back on track after a long pause due to the covid-19 pandemic. The makers of the film posted a photo of director Siva and Rajinikanth from the sets of the film. ICYDK, in December last year, the shooting Annaatthe had come to a pause after crew members tested positive for the covid-19. Though 'Thalaivaa' tested negative, he spent a few days in the hospital and under the observation of doctors, before heading to Chennai for rest. Considering his health, the superstar also canceled his entry into politics. Annaatthe is expected to be a family action drama directed by Siva and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures while D Imman, with whom Siva worked in Viswasam, is the music composer. The movie has an ensemble cast comprising names like Keerthy Suresh, Nayanthara, Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj, Khushbu, Meena, and Soori in key roles. Annaatthe Annaatthe's plot revolves around Kaalaiyan alias Annaatthe, a sarpanch (decision maker) in Thanjavur, who strives to protect his sister from an evil corporate and his crime boss elder brother in Kolkata. The film was officially announced in[5] October 2019, marking Rajinikanth's first collaboration with Siva. Principal photography began on 11 December 2019 and was completed in September 2021. The COVID-19 lockdown in India and Rajinikanth's health issues in late December 2020 delayed the film's production. Filming was primarily done in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, and a few sequences were shot in Chennai.
