Avatar 2 To Delay Indefinitely, Confirms James Cameron

BY SACNILK

It was recently when the cast and crew of the highly anticipated movie Avatar 2 headed New Zealand to resume shoot and the movie was all set to bring the action on December 2021. But, such has been the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic which has not only resulted in movies that were about to come out being delayed but movies ways into the future needing to be pushed back too and Avatar 2 is one of them. ## Responding to the delay, James Cameron, the director of Avatar, today (July 24) confirmed that bringing the movie on December next year will no longer be possible as the coronavirus pandemic has prevented him and his team from recommencing most of the visual production work on stages in Los Angeles, which he described as being "just as critical" to the Avatar movies as the live-action work. ## He continued in a statement shared on Twitter, "Prior to the COVID-19, everything was on track to bring you the first sequel in December of 2021. Unfortunately, due to the impact that the pandemic has had on our schedule, it is no longer possible for us to make that date.## There is no one more disappointed about this delay than me. But I am buoyed by the incredible performances of our cast and the extraordinary work that Weta Digital is doing bringing the world of Pandora and the characters of the film to life". ## The director also added in his statement that he is "thankful for the support" he is receiving from Disney Studios as well as to the fans for their love and support over the years. While the wait for the sequel has now one more year longer, the filmmaker promises to deliver the end result. ## Read the full statement -## A message from James Cameron.Irayo, Na'vi Nation. Avatar 3 will now release on 20 December 2024 followed by Avatar 4 on 18 December 2026, and Avatar 5 on 22 December 2028.
