Rita Wilson on why she fell for Tom Hanks

Los Angeles, April 8 (IANS) Singer-actress Rita Wilson says she fell in love with her husband, actor Tom Hanks, as she loves "a good storyteller".## During an appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show", the 63-year-old talked about what attracted her to her husband, reports foxnews.com.## Clarkson shared that Hanks is quite the chatterbox, which Wilson said was something that made them get along "instantly".## "First of all, I love a good storyteller," she said, adding: "So anybody who could tell a good story, I'm down with that."## Wilson explained that she grew up in a "very vocal" family as they expressed themselves through "food and talking", so Hanks' attitude wasn't unusual for her.## "I love that. He makes me laugh all the time. He's a great storyteller," she said of her husband.## Wilson married Hanks, also 63, in 1988. The two share sons Chet, 29, and Truman, 24. Hanks also has two children from his first marriage: Colin, 41, and Elizabeth, 37.## Wilson also opened up about the two things she would like for Hanks to do if she dies before he does. The actress recalled being diagnosed with breast cancer, which put things in perspective for her, prompting a conversation with her husband.## "I wanted to have these very serious discussions with my husband and I said to him, 'Look if something happens and I should go before you, then I just want you to know that there are a couple of things that I want'," Wilson said.## "One is that I want you to be super sad for a really long time," she joked. Wilson then explained that the second thing she wanted to be a party.## "I wanted to have a celebration and I wanted to have a lot of singing and dancing and people telling stories and to feel like that was being celebrated," she said.## Wilson said that her wish serves as the inspiration for her song "Throw me a party".## For more and latest news about Hollywood, stay tuned with us.

Remake of 'The Night Of The Hunter' in the works

Los Angeles, April 8 (IANS) A remake of the 1955 classic thriller "The Night Of The Hunter", starring Robert Mitchum and Shelly Winters, is under development in Hollywood.## Universal Pictures will remake the film that was adapted from Davis Grubb's novel of the same name, reports variety.com. The script of the remake is being penned by Matt Orton, and although very little has been revealed about the project yet, it is expected to be a contemporary version of the original thriller rather than a period piece.## The film follows a religious fanatic, con man and murderer, who marries a widow knowing that her deceased husband hid $10,000 from authorities following a bank robbery. The widow's children are reluctant to tell him where their late father hid the money and the man plots more sinister ways to find the cash.## The 1955 version was declared the second-best film of all time after "Citizen Kane" by the prestigious film magazine Cahiers du cinema.## The novel and film were inspired by the real-life account of Harry Powers who was hanged in 1932 for the murder of two widows and three children in West Virginia.## Directed by Charles Laughton, the original was considered controversial at the time, due to its dark themes including Mitchum's character preying on young children.## The remake will be produced by Peter Gethers alongside Amy Pascal, who will produce through her Universal-based Pascal Pictures.## Writer Matt Orton previously wrote 2018's "Operation Finale", a historical drama starring Oscar Isaac and Ben Kingsley. Since then, Orton has written "Battle of Britain" and is currently working on "Knights", a live-action family film for Disney Plus.## For more and latest news about Hollywood, stay tuned with us.

Jake Gyllenhaal shares why Heath Ledger refused an Oscars opening act

Los Angeles, April 8 (IANS) Actor Jake Gyllenhaal says late star Heath Ledger "refused" to participate in an Oscars opening act on being told that he'd be poking fun at the gay romance in their film "Brokeback Mountain".## The two stars played Jack Twist and Ennis Del Mar in the Ang Lee-directed film, which follows the unexpected romance between two men.## Gyllenhaal recalled how Ledger stood his ground while talking to Another Man magazine, telling them that the actor didn't find anything funny about the heart-wrenching love story between two cowboys, reports dailymail.co.uk.## "That's the thing I loved about Heath. He would never joke. I remember they wanted to do an opening for the Academy Awards that year that was sort of joking about it," Gyllenhaal told the magazine.## Ledger thought the jokes mocked the message of the film, refusing to participate in the segment.## "Heath refused," he said, then recalling how he didn't exactly understand Ledger's reasoning.## He added: "I was sort of at the time, 'Oh, okay… whatever, it's all in good fun'. And Heath said, 'it's not a joke to me -- I don't want to make any jokes about it'. That's the thing I loved about Heath. He would never joke. Someone wanted to make a joke about the story or whatever, he was like, 'No. This is about love'."## Heath still ended up attending the awards, however, and was seen at the ceremony with girlfriend and co-star Michelle Williams.## "Brokeback Mountain" was a success. It earned eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and acting nods for both Ledger and Gyllenhaal. The film earned director Ang Lee the Best Director honor.## Ledger passed away in 2008 after an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.## For more and latest news about Hollywood, stay tuned with us.

Matt Damon: You can save lives just by staying away Hollywood

Matt Damon: You can save lives just by staying away

Los Angeles, April 8 (IANS) Amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis, actor Matt Damon says while other generations have been asked to do extraordinary things, we are just being asked to stay at home.## He feels we all "can be together just by staying apart".## Recently, Damon reunited with Kate Winslet and other stars of the 2011 virus thriller "Contagion" for a series of public service announcements (PSAs) to warn people about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.## "Now is the time to spend all the time you want staring at your phone or your tablet and if anybody gives you a hard time about it, tell them not to bother you because you are saving lives. Just make sure that you tell them that from six feet away," Damon said.## "We can all do this together just by staying apart. Please do your part. Other generations have been asked to do extraordinary things. We're being asked to just stay at home. We got this. Let's please respect and protect our elders," he added.## Looking back at his 2011 film "Contagion", Damon said: "A few years ago, a bunch of us did this movie called ‘Contagion', which we've noticed is creeping its way back up on the charts on iTunes for obvious reasons, given what we're all living through right now. Everything you are going to hear from me has been vetted by Public Health Experts and Scientists. So, I am here to talk about social distancing, something we've been hearing a lot on TV since the last couple of weeks."## "In the movie, I played a guy who was immune to the hypothetical virus that was spreading around the world. So, a few things to start, that was a movie, this is real life. I have no reason to believe that I'm immune to covid-19 and neither do you, no matter how young you are. This is a new virus, it's going to take some time for our bodies and our doctors to understand the best way to protect us. New viruses emerge all the time. This isn't the first and it won't be the last. So, the good news is, we have seen things like this before and we emerged stronger as a result. And in time, we're going to win against this one as well. Nobody knows how much time, but we do know how to make that day get here quicker," he added.## The movie "Contagion" follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that is spreading in the world and killing millions. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community is trying hard to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, people are struggling to survive in a society that is coming apart. The movie will air in India on Sony PIX on Friday.## In a statement to Columbia Public Health, the actor stressed on the need to practice social distancing.## He said: "Social distancing means -- staying six feet away from another person. It means not gathering in groups. It means staying home or sheltering in place if that's what government officials are telling you to do. People can have covid-19 and had very mild symptoms or no symptoms at all. So, even if you think that they're healthy, or you think you're healthy, don't take that chance because it's not worth it. Every time that you pass this virus to someone else, you are actually giving it to three or four other people as well and then those people are going to do the same. So, before long, that one person turns to hundreds, which turns into thousands and that's how we got into this situation in the first place."## Damon feels it is wrong to think that "you are young and you won't get the virus".## "Now, if you're young and healthy, you might think that this is no big deal because you've heard that this virus is nothing more than a bad cold for you which is not true. Almost 40% hospitalized in this pandemic are under 55. And if you know anybody over the age of 55, or anyone who has any kind of pre-existing conditions, this is a lot more serious for them," he said, adding: "So, you can literally save their lives just by staying away from each other. You can actually sit on the couch or in a chair and watch TV and save a life at the same time. You can work from home, you can use social media to communicate, you can save a few more."## Stay tuned...

It contains several of his signature songs, including "Paradise," about the Western Kentucky town where his parents grew up, and "Hello in There," a tribute to senior people.## Prine released many albums and toured steadily over the next two decades until a health scare cropped up. In 1996, the singer was diagnosed with Stage 3 neck cancer, which required surgeons to remove a piece of his neck.## The surgery also severed nerves in his tongue and changed the tone of his voice, which led him to take more than a year before he could perform again.## Over the years Prine's songs have been covered by a wide range of artists, from Bonnie Raitt and Bette Midler to John Fogerty, the Zac Brown Band, and My Morning Jacket.## In 2005, Prine became the first singer/songwriter to perform at the Library of Congress -- one of several literary honors for a songwriter whose best songs blended poetry with back-porch storytelling.## Prine was again diagnosed with cancer in 2013 when he had successful surgery to remove a spot in his left lung.## For more and latest news about Hollywood, stay tuned with us.

Patty Jenkins wants to make third 'Wonder Woman' film

Los Angeles, April 5 (IANS) Filmmaker Patty Jenkins has hinted that she wants to make a third "Wonder Woman" film.## In an interview to SciFiNow, the writer-and-director said that she has many plans about the popular superhero character, essayed by Gal Gadot, reports dailymail.co.uk.## The 48-year-old will release "Wonder Woman 1984" later this year -- her second film with Gadot as the titular heroine.## Asked about the possibility of a third film, she said: " 'Wonder Woman 3' oh wow! I'm trying to make myself not think about that because every movie has to be taken on its own but there's definitely final things for me that I haven't got to explore with 'Wonder Woman' that we'll have to see if we can go and explore."## Despite the success of 2017's "Wonder Woman", Jenkins doesn't think that automatically means the sequel will be a hit.## She said: "Every movie is its own struggle to touch people and make a difference. 'Wonder Woman surprised a lot of people so (with the sequel) you're walking into a situation where they're waiting for you to fail more than ever. So it's no different because making the first movie was the same in that everybody went, 'Wonder Woman, come on, no you can't'."## "There's a history of these movies tanking and so it was a lot of pressure to be the person to take on trying to bring that movie to life. It's a lot of pressure again to try and make this one live up to what it could be, so in both cases, I've simply focused on, aI love Wonder Woman and I love this genre of film at its best and so I'm just trying to make a great film," she added.## Her comments come after Warner Bros. delayed the summer release of "Wonder Woman 1984" due to the coronavirus pandemic.## In the sequel of the megahit 2017 DC film, Gadot will be back as Wonder Woman with edgier action for a new battle with new villains. The Warner Bros film comes with the tag line "A new era of wonder begins". "Wonder Woman 1984" will now release on August 14 instead of June 5.## For more and latest news about Hollywood, stay tuned with us.

When Jessica Chastain snubbed role in 'Doctor Strange'

He went to Jessica Chastain to get her on Doctor Strange because we were considering her ... (and) she's like, 'Hey, look, this project sounds awesome, and I would love to do it. But I'm only going to get one shot at being in a Marvel film and becoming a Marvel character, and I trained in ballet, and I really want to wear a cape.'## "And that was the coolest rejection ever. She wanted to be the superhero, not badass doctor Night Nurse."## Chastain did play Vuk, the leader of a shape-shifting alien race known as the D'Bari, in the 2019 film 'Dark Phoenix', which is based on the Marvel Comics characters the "X-Men".## For more and latest news about Hollywood, stay tuned with us.
