John Wick Spin-Off 'Ballerina' Release Date Postponed By A Year

Los Angeles, February 22 - John Wick's spin-off film Ballerina starring Ana de Armas has been postponed by almost a year. The action thriller is the first spin-off movie and the fifth instalment overall in the John Wick franchise. ## According to Deadline, Ballerina, which was supposed to be released in June 2024, will now be hitting theatres on June 6, 2025. The move comes as John Wick architect Chad Stahelski has inked a new deal with Lionsgate to oversee the franchise. ## Stahelski is said to be working with Ballerina director Len Wiseman on additional action sequences for the movie, to amp it up even more than it is. Warner Bros.' 'Dune Part 2' and 'Joker 2' Budget Revealed

Los Angeles, February 22 - Warner Bros. Pictures has upped the ante for the upcoming sequels to sci-fi epic Dune, and musical psychological thriller Joker. The two films are easily the most hyped Hollywood films of the year and are expected to bring box office glory. ## The making of the aforementioned sequels, however, cost a lot of money to Warner Bros. which spent hundreds of millions to provide a stunning theatrical experience to the audiences as the studio sees them big money spinners. ## According to Variety, the budget of director Todd Phillips' Joker: Folie à Deux/Joker 2 has been increased 3X of the first film. While the first Joker movie (2019) cost just $60 million in the making, the sequel hit $200 million which is massive. ## The report says that Joaquin Phoenix is getting $20 million to reprise his role as Arthur Fleck / Joker, while Lady Gaga is taking home about $12 million to play Harley Quinn. The successor of the $1+ billion grosser is due to be released in October 2024. ## Before Joker 2 hits the big screen, Warner Bros. has another massive film Dune: Part 2 ready to release this March. The Denis Villeneuve's directorial is already flying high with critics' reviews as Rotten Tomatoes score the film is currently at mighty 97% from over 100 reviews. ## As for the cost, Variety reports that Dune 2 was made on a budget of around $190 million, which is $25 million higher than its predecessor which cost $165 million in 2021. Los Angeles, February 21 - Marvel Studios is all set to drop the title of the Avengers 5 movie that was originally titled The Kang Dyansty. ## It has been reported that Marvel was planning to move on from the title after actor Jonathan Majors, who played Kang The Conquerer and was touted to be a big thing in the MCU, was found guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment. ## However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Majors' conviction wasn't the sole reason behind the title change as Marvel was making moves to minimize the character after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania underperformed at the box office. ## Avengers 5 is due to release in 2026 and it will now be getting a new title. Los Angeles, February 20 - Dakota Johnson-led superhero movie Madame Web has hit an unwanted box office record for Sony's Spider-Man movie.## Spidey's spin-off film generated $17.6 million over the traditional weekend and $26.2 million during the same six-day period at the domestic (North American) box office, opening second place (according to Variety). Global Box Office Jumped By 31 Percent In 2023 From Previous Year

Los Angeles, January 5 - The global box office in 2023 witnessed a jump of 31% as estimated from the previous year 2022, according to estimates released Thursday by leading U.K.-based analytics firm Gower Street (via The Hollywood Reporter). ## The report suggests that the global box office revenue in 2023 hit $33.9 billion, a gain of 31% over 2022's $25.9 billion, but was still 15% behind the average of the three years before the pandemic (2015-2019). Despite the sharp rise in 2023, the box office is yet to match the level of pre-pandemic.## The Hollywood Box Office jumped to $9.05 billion in 2023, an increase of 21% from 2022. The non-Hollywood revenue made a roaring comeback last year with a jump of 35% to $24.8 billion over 2022. According to Gower Street, China was the biggest contributor with $7.71 billion, an enormous 83% gain over 2022 and only 6% behind the pre-pandemic 2017-2019 average. ## Outside Hollywood and China, the box office jumped by 20% to $17.1 billion from 2022. The Indian box office gained around 8% to $1.40 billion from 2022. ## In 2023, Warner Bros. "Barbie" ($1.44 billion) and Universal/Illumination's "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" ($1.36 billion) were the two films which grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. The only hope for the movie to have some sort of respite was to get positive word of mouth which didn't happen, resulting in a flop start at the box office.## The Jason Momoa-starrer sequel grossed approximately 12.80 crores in India in the first 4-days. The first movie "Aquaman" had grossed approx. 29 crores in its 3-day opening weekend in 2018, but here, "Aquamen 2" is unlikely to reach that mark in its lifetime run. ## Directed by James Wan, the film also had a soft start in its home market, North America, with just $28.1 million (235 crores gross) in the 3-day weekend, including premiers. "The Marvels" had the biggest second-weekend drop of around 79% in the MCU history by a long margin.## The film grossed just $10 million in the second weekend, according to Variety.
