Box Office: Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor's 'Chhichhore' Makes A Strong Debut In China
Mumbai, January 10 - Late Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor starrer 2019's blockbuster coming-of-age comedy-drama "Chhichhore" was released in China on January 7, 2022. It is the first Indian film to release in China since Sidharth Malhotra, Akshaye Khanna, and Sonakshi Sinha-starrer "Ittefaq" in October 2019. ## Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, "Chhichhore" has made a strong debut at the China box office, grossing $1.7 million or Rs. 12.60 crores in the opening weekend. The movie debuted in China as number 3 for the new releases after Disney's "Encanto", which grossed $3.4 million in the first 3-days, and "Katuri: City Adventure" ($2.7M). Overall, it was the 10th biggest film of the past weekend. ## Made in the budget of Rs. 70 crores, the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment's production in association with Fox Star Studios had already grossed Rs. 211 crores at the worldwide box office before releasing in China. It was one of the biggest Indian grosser of 2019 at the worldwide box office. ## In the past, Indian movies had done very well in China. Aamir Khan's "Dangal" created mayhem at the Chinese box office by grossing $203 million or Rs. 1305 crores in 2017. It is the biggest Indian grosser in China to date. Interestingly, Nitesh Tiwari had directed "Dangal", and now, he will be hoping for the same success for "Chhichhore". ## "Chhichhore", tells a nostalgia-tinged, emotional story focused on a relationship between father and son as they grapple with the intense pressure of college entrance exams and reminisce about the past.
