Mumbai, September 15 - Amid the superb response to the Tumbbad re-release, Tripti Dimri and Avinash Tiwary's romantic drama Laila Majnu, which was re-released more than a month ago, is still doing a decent business.## Directed by Sajid Ali, the heartbreaking romance drama makes a successful return to the big screen after 6 years. While it largely went unnoticed in its original run back in 2018, the re-release has already earned more than 3X of its original collection of 3.25 crores gross (2.70 crores net).## Laila Majnu is currently in the 6th week of its re-release run and in 38 days so far, it has grossed approximately 10.50 crores. It is the second Bollywood re-release to cross 10 crores gross collection domestically this year. ## The movie was re-released on September 9, ahead of the Independence Day biggies and scored approximately 4.75 crores gross collection (4.10 crores net) in the first week. It was the first film in producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe, followed by Janhvi Kapoor's "Roohi" and the upcoming Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon's "Bhediya". ## Dinesh Vijan has reportedly been planning to introduce new characters in this horror-comedy universe and in this process, a new vampire movie with Ayushmann Khurrana and Samantha Ruth Prabhu is also in the development to start production in 2023.## Meanwhile, apart from the new characters, Maddock Films is also working on the sequel to the already established character and the first in this is the sequel to "Stree". The movie opened the door to producer Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe which includes "Roohi" and the upcoming "Bhediya". And now, the prequel to "Stree" is reportedly in the development at the Maddock Films studio. ## Shraddha Kapoor has been shooting for Luv Ranjan's untitled romantic comedy with Ranbir Kapoor since January 2021. The movie is in the final leg of the shoot and will be wrapped up soon. According to Peepingmoon.com, Shraddha's next after Luv Ranjan's film will be the prequel to "Stree", which will go on floors in August this year. ## Dinesh Vijan is working on multiple horror comedies and plans to build a cinematic universe around them. After Stree, Roohi, and Bhediya, the team is now working to expand the universe. Vijan's next film in the MHCU tells the backstory of the girl who came to Stree and the complications she brought along. It's a prequel to 'Stree' and will see Shraddha reprising her role from the 2018 sleeper hit", read the report. ## The report further states that the prequel of "Stree" will be directed by Marathi filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar, who has also directed Sonakshi Sinha, and Riteish Deshmukh's "Kakuda", which is also a horror-comedy film. The movie is currently in the post-production work and will soon be ready to release, and after that, the director will start Shraddha's film. ## Shraddha Kapoor was supposed to begin the "Naagin" trilogy with director Vishal Furia.
