James Bond Producer Confirms Idris Elba Being Considered As The Next 007

Los Angeles, Jan 21 (IANS) Hollywood star Idris Elba is still in contention to be the next James Bond. Having long been touted to be the first black 007, the 'Luther' actor is confirmed to be "part of the conversation" for the new iteration of the famous British spy.## It's producer Barbara Broccoli herself who spilled the possibility of Elba joining the franchise, reports aceshowbiz.com.## "Well, we know Idris, we're friends with him, and he's a magnificent actor," she told Deadline.## "And, you know, it's been part of the conversation, but it's always difficult to have the conversation when you have someone in the seat". Broccoli, however, noted that they're in no rush to name Daniel Craig's replacement.## She shared: "I think we have decided that until 'No Time to Die' has had its run and Daniel has been able to, well, we've all been able to savor, reap the benefits of Daniel's wonderful tenure, we're not gonna think about, or talk about anybody else".## 'No Time to Die', which is billed as Craig's swan song in his role as 007, went on to become the second-highest grossing movie of the pandemic with $774 million worldwide after a long delay due to the Covid pandemic.## Despite the apparent struggle of the movie industry to convince audiences to return to theaters, Broccoli said she and other studio executives kept their faith in the irreplaceable attraction of cinemas.## "We believe in the power of the theatrical release and the cinema, and that's what we've always done, and that's what 'Bond' has always done, and we cannot agree to go PVOD, not only just for the health of our brand and our movie but we can't do that to the cinema industry," Broccoli said about having "No Time to Die" stick to its theatrical release.## "We can't do it to the exhibitors".## Stay tuned...

Red Notice Star Dwayne Johnson Expressed His Desire To Play James Bond In Future

Los Angeles, November 16 - Wrestler turned actor, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, has been in red hot demand in Hollywood. He is currently enjoying the success of his recently released "Red Notice" on Netflix. Co-starring Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds, the action comedy is the most-watched film on the first day, as announced by the streamer. ## Johnson played an FBI agent in the film who reluctantly teams up with a renowned art thief (Ryan Reynolds) in order to catch an even more notorious criminal (Gal Gadot). The "Fast & Furious" actor, however, wants to play James Bond in a future Bond film and follow in Sean Connery's footsteps. In case you are not aware, The Rock's grandfather, Peter Fanene Maivia, was a villain in 1967's Bond film "You Only Live Twice". ## However, unlike his grandfather who took part in an action sequence against Connery's James Bond, Dwayne Johnson doesn't want to play the villain and only has the desire to play the iconic 007 agent. ## "Yes, my grandfather was a Bond villain in You Only Live Twice with Sean Connery", Johnson told Esquire in a Q&A video interview. "It was very, very cool. And I would like to follow in his footsteps and be the next Bond. I don't wanna be a villain. Gotta be Bond".## Interestingly, James Bond producers Michael G. Wilson, and Barbara Broccoli recently said in an interview that they haven't decided on who will be the next 007 agent. While there are many names rumoured to be in the line to play the character, the makers have now one more option in Johnson if they do wish to sign him. ## Meanwhile, Johnson will next be seen in DCEU's superhero film "Black Adam", in which he plays the title role, who, in comic books, is one of the archenemies of the superhero Captain Marvel and the nemesis of the Marvel Family. Warner Bros. unveiled the first look of Johnson as Black Adam during DC FanDome. It will be released on July 29, 2022. ## Stay tuned...

Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill Is In The Race To Play Next James Bond!

Los Angeles, September 27 - Daniel Craig is all set to retire as James Bond after the upcoming "No Time To Die", scheduled to release on September 30 internationally. Craig has worked on five Bond movies including the upcoming one and is regarded as one of the greatest Bond characters in the history of the spy thriller franchise.## Meanwhile, the talks about the next James Bond have already become a red hot topic in Hollywood. According to variety, betting company William Hill has picked Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, Regé-Jean Page, James Norton, and Luke Evans, who, one of them, could possibly replace Craig.## Despite the number of speculative names, James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the long-time partners of the iconic spy franchise, have said they want to let Craig enjoy his time and the prospect of replacing him isn't something they're discussing until 2022.## In an interview on BBC Radio 4's popular Today program on Monday, the producers were asked if they have decided who might replace Craig's 007. "Oh, God no", said Broccoli. "We're not thinking about it at all. We want Daniel to have his time of celebration. Next year we'll start thinking about the future".## There are also murmurs about whether a woman could be the next Bond. However, Broccoli told the U.K.'s Press Association news agency that Bond would not be played by a woman, at least, not in near future. ## "James Bond is a male character. I hope that there will be many, many films made with women, for women, by women, about women", said Broccoli. "I don't think we have to take a male character and have a woman portray him. So yes, I see him as male. And I'm sort of in denial, I would love for Daniel to continue forever".## The 25th film in the Bond franchise, "No Time To Die" is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. Scheduled to debut in theaters on October 8 in the USA, the movie stars Daniel Craig as 007 along with Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph Waltz, Rory Kinnear, and Ralph Fiennes reprise their roles from previous films, with Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Ana de Armas, Dali Benssalah, Billy Magnussen, and David Dencik in prominent roles. ## Stay tuned...
