Los Angeles, March 3 - The 97th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), was held on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The Oscars presented in 23 categories, honouring films released in 2024. ## Director Sean Baker's romantic comedy-drama Anora came out on top in this year's Oscar, taking home 5 awards including Best Picture. 'Spider-Man 4' Gets A New Release Date

Los Angeles, February 22 - Last year, it was confirmed officially that Tom Holland would return to lead Spider-Man 4 and it was also revealed that Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton would take on the directing duties. ## Sony Pictures had scheduled this Marvel superhero movie for July 24, 2026, with filming to take place in the summer of this year. However, with the shoot yet to commence, the studio has pushed back the release date of the next Spider-Man movie by a week. ## The film will now be released on July 31, 2026. This change gives the film extra distance from the release of director Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which also stars Holland and hits theatres on July 17, 2026. The gap between the two movies is still not big enough, hence, the trade is expecting another change in the release plans of Spider-Man 4. ## Spider-Man 4 will be the second Marvel Cinematic Universe release of 2026 after Avengers: Doomsday, which will be released two months earlier on May 1st. Spider-Man 4 will clash with Paramount's animated feature Paw Patrol 3, slated for the July 31 launch. No other films are currently booked for this date. ## This is also not the first time a Spider-Man movie is releasing shortly after the Avengers film. Los Angeles, February 18 - Disney has been trying to make the next film in the fantasy supernatural swashbuckler series, Pirates of the Caribbean for a long time but there hasn't been a concrete development on the same yet. ## One of the main reasons for the film getting delayed is Disney's highly publicized fallout following Johnny Depp's defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard. The studio parted ways with Depp before the actor won the legal battle and proved himself innocent.## In one of the interviews last year, producer Jerry Bruckheimer said that the next film of the franchise could go in two different directions as there were two alternative scripts - one that could bring Depp back into the frame and another that would move in a different direction. ## It hasn't been that easy as Depp, after that infamous fallout, went on to say that he would never return to Disney no matter what. Well, it has been a long time since he said that and things might have eased between them, as per the latest rumours. ## According to the report by The DisInsider, Depp might be headlining the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean which the studio is planning to start rolling soon at one Hollywood sound stage. Los Angeles, February 17 - Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World had an impressive 3-day opening weekend domestically despite the mixed reviews and word of mouth. Overseas, the superhero movie came lower than expected.## The movie, starring Anthony Mackie in the titular role, matched or slightly battered the trade projection in North America, grossing $88.5 million over its Friday to Sunday weekend with 5.7 million Americans stepping out to watch the film, according to Deadline. ## The Brave New World is estimated to gross $100+ million over its 4-day President's holiday weekend (Friday - Monday). This makes it the fourth biggest Presidents Day weekend ever after Black Panther ($242M), Deadpool ($152M) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120M). ## Overseas, the movie scored $92.4 million from 52 overseas markets through Sunday for a worldwide cume total of $180.9 million. It was projected to gross $110 million but it underperformed in China where a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon called Ne Zha 2 is going bonkers. China was still the biggest overseas market for Captain America 4 with $10.5 million. ## In India, the film also underperformed with an estimated $1.65 million. The film has weathered Pushpa 2 - The Rule Storm and has performed better than expected. ## Mufasa, the prequel to 2019's The Lion King, was expected to do well in India due to the franchise's popularity and the voiceover of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu. However, the box office carnage of Pushpa 2 threatened Mufasa's prospects, which didn't happen. ## In 7 days so far, Mufasa has grossed around 88 crores (including 3D charges) in India which is a very good collection. Box Office: 'Mufasa - The Lion King' Underperforms With $122+ Million Worldwide Opening; Good In India

Mumbai, December 23 - Disney's animated adventure drama Mufasa: The Lion King was the number 1 movie at the worldwide box office this past weekend, however, it failed to match the high expectations and largely underperformed at the domestic and overseas box office. ## The Barry Jenkins' directorial prequel to The Lion King (2019) grossed just $35 million in its domestic (North America) opening weekend, well behind the industry's projection of $50+ million. Overseas also, the film didn't leave up to the expectations at $87.2 million for a worldwide cume of $122.2 million.## While the movie topped the global box office, it landed far behind pre-release expectations of $130 million overseas and $180 million globally. China was the biggest market for Mufasa with $7.8 million, followed by France with $7.7 million, and Mexico with $7.1 million. ## Meanwhile, the movie did well at the Indian box office, benefitting from the voiceover of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu. In its 3-day opening weekend, the film grossed approximately 46 crores (including 3D charges). The original The Lion King grossed 65+ crores in India in its first weekend. ## Mufasa now hopes to regain the lost ground during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Marvel Confirms 'Black Panther 3 Is Officially In Development

Los Angeles, December 19 - Marvel Studios has officially put the third instalment of Black Panther in development with producer Nate Moore returning. Marvel boss Kevin Feige has confirmed the development in an interview with Deadline. ## "Nate has been a core member of our team since 2010, and his influence will continue to reverberate in our storytelling. Although we'll miss him a great deal, we look forward to watching what he does next while also having the good fortune of working with him in a new way on our next Black Panther movie", Feige said. ## The production timeline of Black Panther 3 is not yet known. Ryan Coogler is expected to return to direct the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster while Denzel Washington confirmed that he would be playing the antagonist role in the film. ## The third film will follow on from 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – which itself is a sequel to Black Panther from 2018.
