Box Office: F9 Sets New Pandemic Era Box Office Record With $70 Million Domestic Debut

Los Angeles, June 28, 2021: Justin Lin's directorial, the 9th installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, F9 has made an impressive debut in the USA despite the covid-19 scare. F9 was projected to score between $50-$70 million in the opening domestic weekend, and by surprising everyone, the movie opened to the highest projection of $70 million in the first three days, after debuting with $30 million on Friday, a single-day record for the pandemic era, includes $7.1 million in previews. Paramount Pictures Unveils Title And Plot Details Of 7th Installment Of Transformers Movie

Los Angeles, June 23, 2021: Paramount Pictures is all set to take the Transformers franchise to the next level with its seventh installment. During a virtual press event, Paramount revealed that the 7th film in the Transformers franchise will be titled - Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, indicating something beastly. ## The forthcoming Transformers movie will be different from its previous films in many ways. Directed by Steven Caple Jr., who last directed Creed II, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will include robots who transform themselves into animal forms like a gorilla, falcon, and rhinoceros. ## "There are different breeds of Transformers. In our particular film, they are prehistoric animals who travel through time and space, and we find them here on Earth", said Caple revealing that Optimus Prime will be the film's main hero and that the fan-favorite character will appear in his G1 form. ## The main villain will be named Scourge, who has 'big clawed hands and smoking exhaust ports on his shoulders. And now, as theaters begin opening and the box-office starts to back on track with hits like A Quiet Place 2 and Godzilla vs. Kong - Black Widow, and F9 are set to be the biggest hits of the pandemic era. ## The fact that Scarlett Johanson fronted, Black Widow is a two-way release in theaters and on Disney Plus Premier Access for $30 simultaneously as compared to F9, which is an outright theatrical release. Still, Black Widow is expected to win the box office war against the high octane actioner, F9. ## According to Boxoffice Pro, Black Widow is expected to score between $65 million to $90 million in compared to F9's $50-$70 million in the opening weekend. Going by the predictions, Black Widow is set to become the top-grossing opening domestic weekend since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. ## Despite the covid-19 effect, Black Widow's opening weekend projection is already ahead of previous MCU movies such as - The Incredible Hulk ($55 million) and Ant-Man ($57 million). Los Angeles, May 26, 2021: In a landmark deal, Amazon.com Inc., an American tech giant, has bought the iconic Hollywood movie studio, MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) for a massive sum of $8.45 billion, on Wednesday. ## The new deal between Amazon and MGM will add a vast collection of Hollywood classics and franchises to Amazon's mix. MGM boasts a film library of around 4,000 titles and 17,000 hours of TV programming, including the Bond, Rocky/Creed, and The Hobbit film franchises.## Meanwhile, the billion-dollar deal came at a time when the 25th installment in the James Bond film series - No Time to Die, is only a few months away from its worldwide theatrical release. The question, however, arises whether "No Time To Die" will release in theaters or it will go directly to Amazon Prime Video. ## Well, there is some breather for cinemas in this regard as longtime James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are determined to keep the Bond franchise on the big screen in the wake of mega deal. ## "We are committed to continuing to make James Bond films for the worldwide theatrical audience", Broccoli and Wilson said in a statement out of London, where they run Bond home Eon Productions, according to The Hollywood Reporter. ## No Time To Die, after being delayed numerous times because of the pandemic, is set to hit theaters on October 8 (USA) this year (the Amazon-MGM deal won't likely be closed then). MGM subsidiary United Artists Releasing is distributing the highly anticipated tentpole domestically, while Universal Pictures International is handling overseas duties.## Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, the movie features Daniel Craig in his final turn as 007. It was earlier reported that MGM is in talks with Apple, and Netflix about taking its new James Bond film directly to streaming.
