Kochi, May 16 - Superstar Mohanlal has outdone himself to reign supreme at the box office as his latest sensation Thudarum has outgrossed his recent blockbuster L2: Empuraan to emerge as the second biggest Malayalam grosser domestically. ## Directed by Tharun Moorthy, Thudarum has grossed approximately 125 crores at the Indian box office in 21 days so far, outgrossing the entire domestic run of Empuraan (124.50 crores approx) to emerge as the number 2 grosser. Manjummel Boys remains the number 1 with 167.50 crores gross in India. ## Thudarum had earlier become the first movie ever to top 100 crore gross collection in Kerala state. It has been a one-horse race ever since it was released on April 25. It took just 19 days to achieve the historic milestone. ## Thudarum was released on April 25 and scored a fantastic 5+ crore gross opening in the home state. The positive word of mouth helped the movie to score big gains over the weekend, followed by the sensational hold during the weekdays, as it scored approximately 47 crores gross in Kerala in the first week. ## Even after the big first week, the Tharun Moorthy's directorial remained a strong force at the box office and grossed a solid approximately 36.75 crore in the second week, followed by another 11.75 crore gross in the third weekend. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, Thudarum is estimated to have grossed around 205 crores globally, including 115 crores in India and around 90 crores overseas through the third Sunday (17 days). ## Before Thudarum, Mohanlal's Empuraan (267 crore) and Manjummel Boys (241 crores) achieved the milestone of a 200 crore Mollywood grosser. The movie is now marching towards the rare 100 crore club in the state, and it is expected to achieve the feat this week. ## At the worldwide box office, Thudarum is set to cross 200 crores gross collection today, on its 17th day after grossing approximately 196 crores in the first 16 days (through the third Saturday).
