Mega Blockbuster 'Thudarum' Hits Historic Hundred At The Kerala Box Office
Kochi, May 13 - The Kerala box office is witnessing a history to unfold as superstar Mohanlal's drama thriller Thudarum has become the first film ever to enter the 100 crore club in the state. It took just 19 days to achieve the historic milestone.



Thudarum was released on April 25 and scored a fantastic 5+ crore gross opening in the home state. The positive word of mouth helped the movie to score big gains over the weekend, followed by the sensational hold during the weekdays, as it scored approximately 47 crores gross in Kerala in the first week.



Even after the big first week, the Tharun Moorthy's directorial remained a strong force at the box office and grossed a solid approximately 36.75 crore in the second week, followed by another 11.75 crore gross in the third weekend. On its 3rd Tuesday, the film enters the 100 crore club in Kerala and scripts a red-letter moment for the state's box office.



With this, Kerala has become the 5th South Indian state after Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka to have a 100 crore grossing film. Given the movie market of Kerala, which is not as big as the other South Indian markets, this record is truly special.



Meanwhile, at the worldwide box office, Thudarum has grossed approximately 208 crores, including 118 crores in India and 90 crores overseas in 18 days. The film is on the verge of becoming the highest-grossing Malayalam title in India, by topping Empuraan, which is currently the number 1 grosser with approximately 124.50 crores collection.
