Cocktail 2 has wrapped up its third weekend at the box office, and the narrative has shifted from a promising start to a struggle for survival. After seventeen days in theaters, the film has reached a total India net collection of ₹92.55 Cr. While the movie began its journey with a powerhouse opening week of ₹70.50 Cr, the subsequent weeks have seen a sharp and concerning decline. Although the film is indeed battling a massive screen crunch due to newer tentpole releases, the primary issue lies with the word of mouth, which hasn't been strong enough to sustain interest. In an environment where audience appreciation typically drives longevity, the mixed reception has made it difficult for the sequel to maintain its momentum against the heavy competition.
The third weekend began on a quiet note this past Friday, with the film collecting ₹0.75 Cr net. However, as is often the case with urban comedies, it saw a significant jump on Saturday, growing by 53.3% to earn ₹1.15 Cr. Sunday followed with another 8.7% rise, bringing in ₹1.25 Cr. This brings the three-day weekend total to approximately ₹3.15 Cr. When we look at the cumulative figures, the India gross now stands at ₹110.35 Cr, achieved across more than 1,01,000 shows since its release.

In terms of audience engagement on digital platforms, BookMyShow recorded steady interest over the weekend. Friday saw 12.94K tickets sold, Saturday peaked with 19.25K, and Sunday maintained a decent hold with 17.62K tickets. In total, the film has sold over 1.6 million tickets on the platform to date. In the national chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis, the film sold over 15,000 tickets during the third weekend, with Sunday being the busiest day. Specifically for Sunday, around 7,400 tickets were sold across these chains. PVR led the weekend contribution with 3,800 tickets, followed by INOX with 2,100, and Cinepolis with 1,500 tickets. The occupancy for Sunday sat at an average of 6.5%, reflecting the limited screen space currently available.

The global performance remains a highlight, with the film grossing a total of ₹140.40 Cr worldwide. This includes an overseas contribution of ₹30.05 Cr. In the North American market, Cocktail 2 continues to find takers; data from Venky Box Office shows it collected $16K on Saturday, taking its total in that region to $1.42M. While these international numbers are respectable, the domestic market remains the primary focus as the film nears the 100 Crore milestone.
The journey from the second week to the third has been particularly difficult for the film. After a solid opening weekend of ₹47.50 Cr, the collections suffered a significant 75% drop in momentum. While a severe screen crunch caused by the arrival of Alpha, Welcome to the Jungle, and Main Vaapas Aaunga certainly limited its reach, the primary challenge has been the lack of strong word-of-mouth. Typically, films that resonate deeply with audiences manage to find their way even with fewer screens, but the mixed reception for this sequel has made it hard to sustain footfalls. With a landing cost of ₹150 Cr, the film is now in a tough spot as it struggles to recover its investment against the current box office trend.

The big question now is whether Cocktail 2 can cross the ₹100 Cr net mark in India. It currently needs about ₹7.45 Cr to reach that goal. Given that the entire third weekend only generated a little over ₹3 Cr, reaching the century mark will be a steep uphill battle. Unless the film manages a miraculous hold during the weekdays or regains some screens in the coming week, it might fall just short of that coveted three-figure milestone.
