'Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2' Crosses 100 Crores Gross At The Tamil Nadu Box Office

Chennai, May 7 - Mani Ratnam's historical action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 is continuing with its strong performance at the domestic as well as overseas box office. ## The second and final part of "Ponniyin Selvan" is nearing 300 crores, currently stands at around 282 crores in 9 days, at the worldwide box office, and is likely to reach there by today or tomorrow. The first part, which was released in September last year, grossed close to 500 crores worldwide and the second part is also turning out to be a big money spinner. ## Meanwhile, "PS-2" has crossed 100 crores gross collection in Tamil Nadu, becoming the 3rd film of the year to do so after Thalapathy Vijay's "Varisu" and Ajith Kumar's "Thunivu". Mani Ratnam's directorial reached the 100 crores mark on its 9th day and currently stands at a little over 102 crores. ## "PS-1" had taken just 5 days to breach the 100 crores gross mark and went on to gross over 200 crores in Tamil Nadu. It is the only film in the history of Indian cinema to breach the double-century mark in the state. Chennai, September 29 - Filmmaker Mani Ratnam returns to the direction after 4 years with the magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan. The first part of this epic period action film is scheduled to release on September 30 in multiple languages, and needless to say, there is a huge curiosity among the audience to witness the cinematic adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's legendary 1955 novel of the same name. ## "Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1" is one of the biggest films ever from Tamil cinema, in terms of budget and scale. Ponniyin Selvan Is Possible Because of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali: Mani Ratnam

Chennai, August 19 - Filmmaker Mani Ratnam is all set show the world he has created with magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan, which he believes became possible because of maverick filmmaker SS Rajamouli. Rajamouli's films have been ahead of their times and it was the "Baahuabli" series that opened the gate for other filmmakers to dream big, breaking the barrier of languages. ## During the second single launch of "Ponniyin Selvan 1" in Chennai on August 19, Mani Ratnam spoke about how Rajamouli's "Baahubali" inspired him to make films like "PS". Even though Mani Ratnam always wanted to make PS for the big screen, he said that Rajamouli showed the way with Baahubali that such films can be made and be successful in two-part. ## "I want to Thank SS Rajamouli Garu. Chennai, August 17 - Filmmaker Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 1 is getting ready for the worldwide release on September 30.## The epic period action drama film will be released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages and it will become the first ever Tamil film to release in IMAX format also.
