Kunal shares pic with Kareena: Too many K's in one frame

Mumbai, March 19 (IANS) Actor Kunal Kemmu shared a photograph along with sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan and gave a hilarious caption to it. ## Kunal on Thursday took to Instagram, where he shared a photograph of himself with Kareena. ## "KK AND KKK.. Their wedding was an intimate three-day affair, attended by close friends and family. How people react to fake news on Twitter, Facebook

Seattle, March 19 (IANS) When it comes to fake news on social media platforms, some users outright ignore it, some take it at face value, some investigate whether it is true and some get suspicious of it but then choose to ignore it. ## Social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, provide people with a lot of information, but it's getting harder and harder to tell what's real and what's not. ## "We wanted to understand what people do when they encounter fake news or misinformation in their feeds. Do they notice it? What do they do about it?" said senior study author Franziska Roesner, an associate professor at University of Washington in Seattle. ## "There are a lot of people who are trying to be good consumers of information and they're struggling. If we can understand what these people are doing, we might be able to design tools that can help them," added Roesner in a paper accepted to the 2020 ACM CHI conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems. ## The team watched 25 participants scroll through their Facebook or Twitter feeds while a Google Chrome extension randomly added debunked content on top of some of the real posts. ## Participants had various reactions to encountering a fake post. ## Previous research on how people interact with misinformation asked participants to examine content from a researcher-created account, not from someone they chose to follow. ## "That might make people automatically suspicious," said lead author Christine Geeng, a doctoral student. "We made sure that all the posts looked like they came from people that our participants followed". ## The researchers either installed the extension on the participant's laptop or the participant logged into their accounts on the researcher's laptop, which had the extension enabled. ## The team told the participants that the extension would modify their feeds -- the researchers did not say how -- and would track their likes and shares during the study -- though, in fact, it wasn't tracking anything. ## The extension was removed from participants' laptops at the end of the study. ## Participants could not actually like or share the fake posts. ## On Twitter, a "retweet" would share the real content beneath the fake post. ## The one time a participant did retweet content under the fake post, the researchers helped them undo it after the study was over. On Facebook, the like and share buttons didn't work at all. ## After the participants encountered all the fake posts -- nine for Facebook and seven for Twitter -- the researchers stopped the study and explained what was going on. ## "Our goal was not to trick participants or to make them feel exposed. We wanted to normalize the difficulty of determining what's fake and what's not," said Geeng. ## While this study was small, it does provide a framework for how people react to misinformation on social media. ## The researchers can use this as a starting point to seek interventions to help people resist misinformation in their feeds. ## For more and the latest news about Lifestyle, stay tuned to us.

1 killed in blaze opposite SRK's home

COVID-19: B'wood flouting shoot restrictions and hygiene advice?

Mumbai, March 17 (IANS) At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has called for complete shutdownb, with the government advising against any kind of public gathering, Mumbai's Film City continues almost in its usual pace. ## On Sunday, a notification has been unanimously issued by the Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association, Federation of Western India Cine Employees and other similar bodies, ordering that shooting for films, TV shows, digital shows and all other kinds of entertainment format would have to be stopped between March 19 and 31 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. ## But will Bollywood really stop shooting? ## Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, president of All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), told IANS: "The film industry hardly ever follows regulations. Whenever any circular is issued, there will be some people within the industry who will not follow it. People who don't follow government circulars, will they listen to producers? Some shoots will continue to happen." ## Gupta's words were repeated by Prince Sheikh, who works as a casting coordinator for television shows across the city. ## Prince said: "Some or the other shoot will continue. Not every shoot will stop. But there are always doctors present on the sets for any kind of medical emergency." ## Currently, at least 50 per cent of the shoots have stopped at the Film City but the rest of the them will continue till March 18 at least> Going by Gupta's contention, a lot of these shoots are happening under conditions of "gross negligence". ## "Almost 50 per cent of shoots have stopped at Goregaon Film City. The rest are still shooting. Nobody is wearing a mask or using sanitiser. They are at least 150-200 people on the sets including child artistes as young as four. There is gross negligence," said Suresh Gupta. ## He added that Principal Secretary of the Health Department, Dr Pradeep Vyas, has issued a notification saying that whatever shoot is going on within the industry premises, should ensure proper safety measures. However, in most Film City washrooms and basins, you hardly ever spot soap or handwash. When we were little, all the kids of the building would play together in the garden below and sometimes even sleep there.
