WWE Backlash 2023 Full Review, Reactions, Match Ratings, Results

The 2023 Backlash was the 18th Backlash professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming event produced by WWE. The event took place on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico. ## A total of seven matches took place at the event, including the previously mentioned Bad Bunny match. In the main event, Cody Rhodes emerged victorious over Brock Lesnar. Other noteworthy matches saw The Bloodline (comprised of Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, and Solo Sikoa) defeat Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Matt Riddle in a thrilling six-man tag team match. Additionally, Rhea Ripley successfully defended her SmackDown Women's Championship against Zelina Vega, who hails from Puerto Rico. The opening bout saw Bianca Belair retain her Raw Women's Championship by defeating Iyo Sky. ## Bianca Belair Vs IYO SKY: Raw Women’s Championship ## In an electrifying match that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats, Bianca Belair successfully defended her Raw Women's Championship against IYO SKY. Despite Belair receiving a thunderous ovation upon entering the arena, the audience showered her with boos during her offense, as if she were the polarizing John Cena, while cheering on SKY's maneuvers.## SKY initially dominated the bout, but Belair came back with an array of impressive moves, including a backbreaker, dropkicks, and a delayed vertical suplex. In a remarkable display of strength, Belair hoisted SKY up with a one-arm press slam before dropping her to the mat. However, a slight mistiming caused SKY to land awkwardly on her face. Undeterred, Belair proceeded to execute a moonsault, narrowly missing the three count. ## SKY missed a charge, allowing Belair to send her crashing into the turnbuckle with her previously injured arm. SKY retaliated with a springboard dropkick, setting the stage for a series of thrilling maneuvers that had the audience roaring in approval. Belair attempted a 450 splash, but SKY managed to get her knees up just in time. SKY then applied a crossface, but Belair managed to counter out of it. ## The two continued to trade counters, with SKY executing a facebuster for a nearfall, followed by double knees in the corner. SKY blocked a second KOD attempt and tossed Belair out of the ring. A daring move by SKY saw her execute a moonsault off the top rope, drawing a two count inside the ring. ## Belair countered with an avalanche powerbomb, which nearly earned her a pinfall victory. However, Bayley and Dakota Kai made their presence felt, causing a distraction that allowed SKY to seize the advantage momentarily. SKY attempted a roll-up, which appeared to be a three count to the raucous crowd, but was only a very close nearfall. In a heated moment, Belair used SKY's body to knock Kai off the apron, allowing her to recover. ## As SKY ascended the top rope to deliver a moonsault, Bayley held Belair down by the braid, prompting the referee to intervene. A moment of hesitation by SKY proved costly, as Belair managed to avoid the moonsault and deliver a devastating KOD, securing the hard-fought victory. ## WINNER: Bianca Belair via pinfall ## MATCH RATING: **** ## Seth Rollins Vs Omos (w/MVP) ## Prior to the commencement of the match, Seth Rollins was caught off guard by a sudden boot to the face from Omos while reveling in the crowd's enthusiastic rendition of his theme song. The official checked on Rollins before the bell rang, but Omos wasted no time in sending Rollins crashing to the mat with a powerful shoulder tackle.## Rollins attempted to rally back by posting Omos and launching himself off the ropes with a suicide dive, but the gargantuan Omos barely flinched. Despite this, Rollins persisted with a series of well-executed kicks and a dropkick to Omos' legs, bringing the towering figure down to one knee. A swift thrust kick from Rollins followed, but Omos demonstrated his immense strength by countering a Pedigree with a forceful back body drop.## Rollins persevered, managing to stun Omos with a tornado DDT and a subsequent frog splash, but to no avail as Omos kicked out at one. Continuing to rain down blows upon Omos, Rollins found himself thwarted in his attempts to deliver a curb stomp, as Omos remained unmoved, akin to Bobby Lashley's tenacity in previous bouts. Omos retaliated with a devastating chokeslam, but only garnered a two count.## As the match progressed, Rollins kicked his game into high gear, nailing Omos with a stomp after MVP distracted the official, who was subsequently superkicked off the apron by Rollins. Another stomp from Rollins almost secured the victory, but to his surprise, Omos kicked out. Undeterred, Rollins ascended the turnbuckles and connected with a stomp from the top rope, finally pinning Omos for the three count. The audience was jubilant as Rollins emerged victorious.## Overall, the match was adequate, with Rollins displaying great skill and perseverance, though perhaps slightly prolonged. ## WINNER: Seth Rollins via pinfall ## MATCH RATING: *** ## Triple Threat Match: Austin Theory Vs Bronson Reed Vs Bobby Lashley: United States Championship ## Lashley was relentlessly pummeling Theory until the latter and Reed forged an alliance to try and overpower Lashley. However, their coalition was short-lived as Reed took down Theory with a body block, exposing the fragility of their partnership. Lashley then ensnared Theory in the Hurt Lock, but Theory was able to utilize the ropes as a lifeline to break free. ## Seizing the opportunity, Reed crushed Lashley with Tsunami, yet Theory thwarted his teammate's victory by interrupting the count. Undeterred, Theory executed a rolling blockbuster on Reed and hoisted the hefty wrestler on his shoulders, only for Reed to slip away before Theory could unleash his A-Town Down finishing move. Reed then hit a thunderous powerslam and attempted a moonsault, but Theory anticipated the maneuver and evaded it, allowing Lashley to spear Reed out of nowhere. With Lashley momentarily dazed, Theory tossed him out of the ring and swiftly rolled up Reed for the three-count, securing the win. ## WINNER: Austin Theory via pinfall ## MATCH RATING: ** ## Rhea Ripley Vs Zelina Vega: SmackDown Women’s Championship ## When Vega was introduced, the crowd erupted into a thunderous ovation, leaving her practically in tears. She made a stunning entrance, sporting Puerto Rican flag-themed gear with a magnificent flag cape. Ripley, on the other hand, donned a white outfit with purple lining. ## Before the match, Vega's mother, Monique, presented her with a chancla, which she promptly hurled at Ripley. However, Ripley quickly took control of the match, despite Vega's attempts to fight back with forearms, buoyed by the crowd's cheers. A resounding headbutt from Ripley halted Vega's momentum, but she managed to stun Ripley with a DDT. ## Vega followed up with a spectacular 619 and a Meteora that earned her a close nearfall. Not one to be defeated easily, Ripley retaliated with a fierce kick to Vega's head and executed a Rip-tide, securing the decisive pinfall win. ## WINNER: Rhea Ripley via pinfall ## MATCH RATING: **** ## San Juan Street Fight: Bad Bunny Vs Damian Priest ## Undoubtedly, the WWE street fight between Priest and Bad Bunny was a spectacle to behold. At the onset, Priest attempted to outmaneuver Bad Bunny, but the latter stunned the audience with a magnificent Michinoku Driver only a minute into the match, almost garnering a two-count. Afterward, Bad Bunny seized a kendo stick, but Priest promptly interrupted him, snapping the stick in half and delivering a thunderous slam. ## Despite Bad Bunny's several attempts to mount a comeback, Priest comfortably subdued him, capping it off with his signature South of Heaven finishing move. Although Priest could have claimed the victory less than five minutes into the match, he inexplicably pulled Bad Bunny up at the last moment. With the crowd egging him on, Bad Bunny launched an assault on Priest with kendo stick shots and a tornado DDT, eventually scaling the ropes and delivering a flying crossbody to the outside. The pop from the audience was immense as Bad Bunny smacked Priest with trash can lids and connected with a falcon arrow for a near-fall. ## As Priest noticed that he was bleeding, Bad Bunny invited him back into the ring, and Priest seemingly attempted to leave but abruptly turned around, landing a brutal kick on Bad Bunny. Priest used the kendo stick given to him by Savio Vega to pummel Bad Bunny, and the audience chanted his name in support. The fight eventually spilled into the crowd, where Priest delivered a falcon arrow off some high equipment boxes, sending Bad Bunny through tables. ## Afterward, Adam Pearce and other officials rushed to Bad Bunny's aid, but Priest ignored them and carried Bad Bunny back to ringside. Priest tried to land a roundhouse kick, but Bad Bunny evaded it, and Priest inadvertently kicked the ring post. With Bad Bunny seizing the upper hand, he pummeled Priest's injured leg with the kendo stick and then slammed it into the post. Priest beseeched the referee for mercy as Bad Bunny smacked his knee against the post with a steel chair. As Bad Bunny prepared to deliver a final chair shot, Priest begged him off, only to be met with a swift low blow from Bad Bunny. ## Dominik Mysterio and Finn Bálor then emerged from backstage to attack Bad Bunny, with Carlito arriving to his theme music, inciting the crowd. In a chaotic melee, Rey Mysterio joined the fray, but he was knocked down, while Vega entered the ring to pummel Bálor and Dom. The LWO then appeared to put the boots to Dom, as Bálor fled. Vega dropped Bálor with a roundhouse kick and also took down Dom. As Dom and Bálor scampered off, Bad Bunny locked Priest in a figure four, and Priest tried to counter with a chokeslam, but Bad Bunny transitioned it into a cradle, securing a two-count. ## With Priest charging forward, he collided with a steel chair, allowing Bad Bunny to execute a sliced bread #2 for a near-fall. Bad Bunny finished Priest off with a Canadian Destroyer for the well-deserved pinfall victory. The crowd erupted into a frenzy, marking the end of a truly epic match. ## WINNER: Bad Bunny via pinfall ## MATCH RATING: ****½ ## Six-man tag team match: Solo Sikoa, Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso Vs Matt Riddle & Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn ## The match was indeed riveting, with Sikoa almost executing the infamous Samoan Spike on Jey Uso, leaving the crowd in awe. The babyface team exhibited their dominance over the Usos, but it was not long before Sikoa tagged himself in to take on Zayn. The Bloodline then took control of the bout, leaving Zayn's partners incapacitated. ## After dropping Sikoa with a spectacular tornado DDT, Zayn tagged in Riddle who unleashed a flurry of attacks on the Usos before stunning the Bloodline with a breathtaking dive. However, Jimmy Uso countered with a devastating superkick, which resulted in a near-fall for Riddle. Riddle then executed a powerful superplex on Jimmy, followed by Owens' stunning senton bomb, but it still wasn't enough to put the Usos away. Owens managed to dodge Jimmy's superkick, causing him to inadvertently strike Jey. Owens then went for a senton, but Jey had his knees up, leading to a series of superkick trades between Owens and Jey. ## Suddenly, Jey accused Zayn of trying to ruin their family and went for a running hip attack, only to be interrupted by Sikoa. Before Sikoa could execute his move, Jey tagged himself back in by striking Sikoa in the chest, which triggered a reaction from the audience. ## Zayn then delivered a Helluva Kick to Sikoa after Jey ducked, but Sikoa broke up the pinfall. Sikoa then appeared to turn on Jey, but Riddle prevented him with a fierce knee strike. Jimmy then hurled Riddle out of the ring, Owens responded with a superkick on Jimmy, and Sikoa leveled Owens with a Samoan spike. Sikoa sensed someone approaching him and prepared to unleash his Samoan Spike. It was none other than Jey Uso, who did not resist but instead challenged Sikoa to hit him. Zayn intervened before things got out of hand. ## Riddle subsequently tagged in and gave Jey the Bro Derek, but Sikoa had secretly tagged himself in and promptly leveled Riddle with a devastating Samoan Spike, sealing the win for his team. Overall, the match was a display of impressive athleticism and skill, leaving the audience on the edge of their seats. ## WINNERS: The Bloodline ## MATCH RATING: **** ## Cody Rhodes Vs Brock Lesnar ## As Lesnar made his entrance, Rhodes ambushed him with the steel steps and a steel chair, unleashing a brutal assault. Despite the attack, the match began, and Rhodes opened with a swift Disaster Kick. However, Lesnar swiftly caught Rhodes' Cody Cutter attempt and responded with a thunderous German suplex. Rhodes attempted to regain control, but Lesnar slammed him with a fallaway suplex and continued to dominate with an array of suplexes. ## As Lesnar hit another German suplex, Rhodes inadvertently tore off a turnbuckle cover. The chants of "Suplex City" and "Let's go Cody" reverberated throughout the arena. However, Rhodes seized an opportunity and evaded Lesnar's charge, sending him face-first into the exposed buckle. The impact resulted in Lesnar profusely bleeding, and his entire face was soon drenched in blood.## Rhodes capitalized on Lesnar's disorientation, landing a cutter and a Disaster Kick. He unleashed a flurry of blows on Lesnar, the blood from Lesnar's face coating Rhodes' midsection. Rhodes then executed a Cody Cutter and consecutively delivered Cross Rhodes, earning a close nearfall. ## Lesnar thwarted Rhodes' next Cross Rhodes attempt, landing an F5 for a nearfall. The referee had a handful of towels to tend to Lesnar's bloodied face, but perhaps instructed to proceed with the match, the referee kicked them aside and continued the action. With a bloody face, Lesnar applied a Kimura Lock on Rhodes, but Rhodes counterattacked with a sudden cradle, leading to a shocking pinfall victory. ## WINNER: Cody Rhodes ## MATCH RATING: ***½ ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.

UFC 288 Results: Belal Muhammad Vs. Gilbert Burns Full Fight & Winner

The upcoming fight between Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns is highly significant for the welterweight division, second only to a championship bout. ## The victor of this matchup will likely earn a shot at the divisional title, facing off against the winner of the Leon Edwards versus Colby Covington showdown scheduled for later in the year. Belal Muhammad vs. Gilbert Burns takes place on May 6, 2023, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. ## UFC 288: Belal Muhammad Vs. Gilbert Burns Full Fight & Highlights ## ROUND 1: The co-main event is upon us, and the stakes couldn't be higher for these two fighters. With the winner being promised a shot at the welterweight title after Colby Covington, this is a pivotal moment for both Gilbert Burns and Belal Muhammad. The seasoned referee, Keith Peterson, is the man in charge of keeping things fair and safe inside the Octagon. As they come together for the traditional touch of gloves, the tension in the arena is palpable. ## Burns fires off a leg kick to kick things off, but Muhammad is already showing his versatility with some swift stance changes. Muhammad tries a high kick, but Burns defends it well. However, Muhammad counters with a sharp left that finds its mark, followed by another that Burns just barely manages to avoid. The two warriors trade blows in the center of the cage, with Muhammad landing a thudding body kick. ## In a sudden burst of energy, Burns shoots for a takedown, but Muhammad springs back to his feet almost immediately. Muhammad continues to be the aggressor, landing yet another body kick. But Burns isn't backing down, and he keeps pressing forward. Muhammad connects with a well-timed left hand that rocks Burns, causing him to stumble back. And then, just as Burns seems to be regaining his balance, Muhammad lands a blocked head kick that sends him reeling once again. ## Through it all, Muhammad remains calm and patient, picking his shots carefully and not overextending himself. The same can be said of Burns, who despite being rocked a few times, refuses to give up ground. ## ROUND 2: What a sensational opening round for Muhammad. He continues to work those body kicks, which are causing Burns some serious problems. Burns tries to counter with a straight right, but Muhammad is remaining composed and measured, not rushing in recklessly. However, Burns is not deterred and lands a good combination. Muhammad's forward pressure is relentless, though, and he keeps coming forward, hunting for the finish. Burns tries to keep him at bay with a low kick. Muhammad tries to flurry forward, but misses the mark. It's a very close and competitive round, with both men looking to gain the upper hand. ## ROUND 3: It wouldn't come as a surprise if the scorecards are even at 19-19 going into the third round, as the second round could have gone either way. Muhammad's corner is urging him to be more aggressive. The third round starts off slow, eliciting some boos from the crowd. Muhammad swings a wide right that misses the mark. Burns charges in, but fails to land any significant strikes. Muhammad throws out a probing right hand. He lands a beautifully executed kick to the body, which has been his most consistent and effective weapon. Burns connects with a solid right hand of his own. It appears that something might be bothering Burns, as his corner keeps imploring him to "overcome" it. Perhaps he is dealing with an injury? While it hasn't been a Fight of the Year contender thus far, Muhammad takes this round by being the more active fighter. ## ROUND 4: The corner of Burns is displaying an air of trepidation, as the Brazilian appears to be disoriented and unaware that Round 2 is over. Coach Henri Hooft implies that Burns' left arm or shoulder is injured, compelling him to "overcome" the obstacle. Muhammad persists in his unwavering focus on the body, lashing out with an additional forceful kick. Burns retaliates with a couple of right hands. However, Muhammad proves unyielding and lands another brutal body kick. Burns seeks a high kick, yet it is easily blocked. ## Muhammad, with his unyielding forward pressure, relentlessly advances on Burns. Burns lands a massive counter right hand, though Muhammad simply brushes it off. Despite the blow, Burns winces in excruciating pain as something is seriously wrong with his left shoulder. It appears that Muhammad has discerned this and is focusing much of his offense on that side. Burns attempts a low kick, and Muhammad continues to batter his injured shoulder with kicks. Yet, Muhammad remains unfazed, eating another right hand from Burns and continuing to apply pressure. ## ROUND 5: It's clear that this bout has been entirely dominated by Belal Muhammad, with the scorecard either showing a decisive 4-0 or a still-advantageous 3-1 in his favor. It's highly likely that Burns would require a stoppage in this final round to turn the tide. However, he seems visibly disheartened and frustrated, making it doubtful that he will be able to produce a miraculous turnaround. Burns struggles mightily with a failed takedown attempt, while Muhammad appears fresh and confident despite the last-minute nature of this contest. ## Muhammad unleashes yet another brutal kick to the body, and it appears to have landed with vicious intent. We're halfway through the round, and Burns is looking increasingly sluggish. In desperation, Burns lunges inside with a pair of right hands, but he only earns a counter shot in return. Muhammad unleashes a flurry of punches, although none of them find their mark. Nonetheless, Muhammad maintains an impressive level of activity throughout the round, further cementing his dominance. This is undoubtedly a fantastic showing by Muhammad, and he should now be riding a ten-fight undefeated streak. The judges will ultimately have the final say, though. ## UFC 288: Belal Muhammad Vs. Gilbert Burns Fight Winner ## WINNER: Belal Muhammad via Decision (unanimous) (50–45, 49–46, 49–46) ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.

On Saturday, the main event of UFC 288 will feature Henry Cejudo, a former two-division champion who is returning from a three-year retirement, facing off against the bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling. ## This fight presents an opportunity for Cejudo to reclaim the title that he relinquished when he retired, and also provides Sterling with the chance to solidify his position as the top fighter in the 135-pound division. ## Aljamain Sterling vs. Henry Cejudo takes place on May 6, 2023, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. ## UFC 288: Aljamain Sterling Vs. Henry Cejudo Full Fight & Highlights ## ROUND 1: In the opening moments of the bout, Aljo swiftly emerges from his corner and launches a head kick, only to be evaded by Cejudo. Despite failing to land any significant strikes yet, Aljo applies immense pressure on his opponent. Cejudo, on the other hand, takes a more cautious approach, trying to feel things out. ## Aljo's length advantage is evident, and he capitalizes on it with his impressive activity. However, he becomes overzealous and overswings, providing Cejudo with an opportunity to take him down, which he does with remarkable speed and precision. ## On the ground, Aljo works his butterfly guard and attempts to sweep with an overhook, but Cejudo's heavy top pressure makes it difficult for him to execute. Aljo rolls up, and Cejudo quickly transitions into a front headlock, applying pressure and testing Aljo's patience. Despite this, Aljo remains calm and eventually stands up. ## Cejudo lands a solid leg kick, prompting Aljo to become more aggressive. Aljo retaliates with a powerful body kick, followed by a right hand from Cejudo that catches the kick, but Aljo manages to escape. Cejudo then initiates a clinch, but Aljo successfully defends against the fence. Aljo attempts a level change, but Cejudo stuffs it and jumps on a front headlock. Aljo tries to switch with a peak out, but Cejudo denies him. Aljo manages to secure a single-leg takedown and holds Cejudo against the fence. ## Aljo succeeds in passing Cejudo's guard and lands a vicious knee to the body, forcing Cejudo to his feet. However, he is unable to break Aljo's grip, and Aljo sneaks to his back. Despite the short time remaining in the round, Cejudo stays vigilant, fighting off Aljo's attempts to submit him. ## ROUND 2: Cejudo started the round with a good rhythm, but Aljo finished the previous round strongly, utilizing his length and size to his advantage. It remains to be seen if Cejudo will attempt more wrestling in this round, and if both fighters can maintain this high pace.## Cejudo initiates the action with a low kick, but he's struggling to find his range against Aljo's kicking game. While Cejudo seems content to wait for openings, he lands a significant counter right and follows up with a low kick. Meanwhile, Aljo is landing some piercing jabs, steadily building up his offense.## Cejudo throws a body kick, and Aljo responds with a left. Cejudo misses a head kick by a hair, and Aljo attempts a risky elbow strike, which proves fruitless. Cejudo throws another head kick, which leads to a brief clinch that ends quickly.## Cejudo is increasingly relying on his kicks, and Aljo gamely trades with him, though Cejudo's kicks seem to pack a bit more power. While Cejudo's punches appear to be superior, Aljo shows some impressive footwork, using it to create angles and avoid Cejudo's counters. Aljo lands a wild shot, which Cejudo easily defends.## Cejudo begins feinting more frequently, which opens up opportunities for his right hand. Aljo counters effectively, but Cejudo remains aggressive despite being off-rhythm. Cejudo's frequent switching of stances is preventing Aljo from landing multiple strikes, but he's also getting caught in-between transitions.## Cejudo connects with a high kick on a ducking Aljo, who manages to absorb it well. As Cejudo finds his range with his boxing, Aljo gives ground and jabs to the body, but eats a counter combo. A brief clinch ensues, which quickly breaks up. Cejudo lands a clean right hand, and both fighters collide in a scramble just before the horn sounds. ## ROUND 3: Cejudo's corner implores him to "Burn the Ships," urging him to elevate his game. It seems like a smart move, as Cejudo is really turning up the pressure now. He's got Aljo backed up, and a jumping knee narrowly misses but a right hand might have landed! Aljo quickly drops for a double leg takedown, but Sterling smashes it down and they return to standing. Aljo then connects with a looping right and a low kick. ## Aljo attempts another reactive double, but Cejudo manages to stuff it and then lands a knee to the body. Aljo shoots again, this time grabbing the underhook and pushing Cejudo towards the fence. The two engage in clinch grappling, with both fighters jockeying for position. Aljo eventually muscles Cejudo down to the ground, and now he's working towards taking Cejudo's back. ## Cejudo manages to stand up, but Aljo remains sticky on him and stays engaged in the clinch. Despite Cejudo's attempts to break free, Aljo keeps him pinned against the fence. Eventually, Cejudo manages to escape and the two fighters return to striking range. ## But Aljo shoots again, with Cejudo managing to stuff the takedown and attempt to spin to Aljo's back. However, Aljo seizes the opportunity to grab a leg and attacks Cejudo's neck. It's a risky move, given Cejudo's Olympic gold medal in wrestling. Cejudo stands up, and Aljo manages to make his way back to his feet. The fighters exchange kicks, with Aljo landing a body lock and knees to Cejudo's midsection. Cejudo manages to land an inside trip, but it's too late in the round for any significant follow-up. ## ROUND 4: Aljo replies with a solid body kick. As the live odds suggest, the fight remains a toss-up, with both fighters evenly matched. ## Despite Cejudo's valiant efforts, Sterling's activity level is impressive, as he continues to outwork Cejudo. The Olympian lands a stepping right hand, but is unable to capitalize on it due to his struggles with range. However, he does score a big knee when Aljo ducks in. Cejudo ups the pressure and Aljo remains steadfast, maintaining his distance while continuing to throw kicks. ## Cejudo manages to pin Aljo to the fence and secure a clinch. He attempts a takedown, but Aljo manages to keep his feet and evade the takedown. After breaking the clinch, Cejudo applies more pressure, but Aljo counters with a crisp jab and a powerful calf kick. ## Cejudo makes another attempt at the clinch and eats a knee from Aljo, but manages to break free. Aljo's kickboxing skills continue to give him the upper hand, with his jab and calf kicks landing effectively. As the round progresses, Cejudo's pace begins to slow down, allowing Aljo to catch him with an awkward right hand. Cejudo attempts to take advantage of a lazy kick, but Aljo escapes the takedown attempt. ## Aljo lands a knee and Cejudo finds himself in yet another front headlock. Despite his efforts to escape, Aljo manages to secure a takedown against the fence, with Cejudo giving up his back to stand up. Aljo lands a combination as the round ends, cementing his dominance in the fight. ## ROUND 5: As the final round commences, Cejudo's corner imparts the crucial message that he needs a finish to secure the victory, which Sterling's corner validates by warning him of Cejudo's imminent onslaught. Both fighters appear rejuvenated, with Sterling visibly energized as he initiates the action. Cejudo responds with aggressive pressure, but Sterling is too nimble, firing off quick and effective kicks. Cejudo attempts to deceive Sterling with feints and lands a body kick, but Sterling remains evasive. ## Sterling lands a spinning back kick that momentarily drives Cejudo back, but the latter responds with a powerful right hand. However, Sterling appears to be playing it safe by not engaging in any risky maneuvers. Cejudo starts to gain momentum with a left hand and a right hand after a single-leg attempt, followed by a low kick, finding his rhythm in the process. Sterling, on the other hand, recklessly consents to boxing range and employs a stepping elbow. In a clinch, Cejudo inflicts a pair of impactful knees before the referee separates them. ## Cejudo keeps up the pressure, attempting a head kick that barely grazes Sterling before trapping him in a clinch again. With just a minute left, Cejudo executes a snatch single, sending Sterling across the cage and securing the takedown. Sterling rises up but Cejudo clings on with a rear waistlock. The fight concludes with Sterling twisting free as the bell rings, closing out an intense and hard-fought battle. ## UFC 288: Aljamain Sterling Vs.
