The event worldly famous for its surprising entrants and I hope they develop this year as well. ## The 2023 Royal Rumble event has already been rumored to include major surprises such as; Cody Rhodes, The Rock, and plush, the event will see the debut of the first-ever Pitch Black match. ## Let's have a looks at some of the rumored and predicted matches for the event. ## Pitch Black Match: TBA Vs. TBA ## WWE is all set to do the first-ever Pitch Black Match at the 2023 Royal Rumble on January 28th in San Antonio. It was about a month when WrestlingNewsCo first reported the company’s plan to do a Pitch Black Match. ## In an update, WrestlingNewsCo noted that WWE was advertising the Pitch Black Match during a commercial that was used to hype the Royal Rumble event itself. ## Now, it's officially been confirmed by WWE via a video posted on Twitter that the "Pitch Black Match" will be taking place at the 2023 Royal Rumble event. ## Hell In a Cell Match: Edge Vs. Finn Balor ## As WrestlingNewsCo also reported earlier in December and we covered as well, WWE is also planning on doing a Hell in a Cell match at the Royal Rumble with Edge facing Finn Balor. ## Edge has been out of in-ring action for quite some time now. He last wrestled at Extreme Rules on Cotober 8, where he was defeated by Balor in an "I Quit" Match after interference from The Judgement Day. ## After he said "I Quit", Ripley attacked his wife, Beth Phoenix (who also interfered during the match on his behalf), with a violent con-chair-to, severely injuring her (kayfabe) and suffering his first loss in 2022. ## Bray Wyatt vs. LA Knight In A Pitch Black Match ## With Bray Wyatt's storyline being in obscurity, I would like to pick Wyatt Vs. Knight for the Pitch Black Match. She triumphed over Toni Storm during the March 1st broadcast of AEW Dynamite, and followed up by defeating Emi Sakura on the March 3rd episode of AEW Rampage. On the March 10th episode of AEW Rampage, Riho claimed yet another victory, this time over Nyla Rose. ## During the March 27th airing of AEW Dark: Elevation, the commentator Matt Menard declared that Riho had earned the rank of the primary contender for the AEW Women's World Championship. He further revealed that Riho was slated to compete against the current champion, Jamie Hayter, in a title match on the April 5th episode of AEW Dynamite, which will take place in Long Island. Later in the same broadcast, Riho emerged as the victor in the headlining match against Diamante. ## It is worth noting that Hayter had previously emerged victorious against Riho on the October 26th edition of AEW Dynamite. However, Riho managed to best Hayter in their subsequent meeting on the December 8th episode of AEW Dynamite in 2021. As such, their impending match will serve as the rubber match in their ongoing rivalry. ## AEW World Tag Team Championships (If FTR loses, they leave AEW): The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn) (c) vs. FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) ## In one of the night's featured matches, FTR will put their AEW World Tag Team Championship on the line against The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn).
