AEW Rampage Results February 23, 2024

Live from the arena, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard welcome viewers as Penta El Zero Miedo, Komander, Bryan Keith, Private Party, Matt Sydal, Top Flight, and Action Andretti await in the ring.

Penta El Zero Miedo, Komander and Bryan Keith (w/ Alex Abrahantes) vs. Private Party and Matt Sydal vs. Top Flight and Action Andretti

Action Andretti and Matt Sydal kick things off in a flurry of elbows and splashes. Darius joins the fray, but Sydal's agility keeps him on his toes. Bryan Keith enters, delivering a swift boot to Kassidy, who counters with a hurricanrana. Quen soars through the air with a splash, setting the stage for Penta's arrival.

Penta and Quen engage in their signature hand gestures, a playful prelude to the upcoming chaos. All nine competitors erupt in a wild brawl, showcasing their diverse styles and athleticism.

Komander takes flight with a hurricanrana on Dante, followed by a breathtaking top-rope walk and dropkick. Penta takes over, delivering a Slingblade to Dante. Andretti, never one to stay out, tags in and receives a clothesline from Komander, using Penta as his personal launchpad.

After a quick break, Dante stuns Private Party with a springboard back elbow. He continues his offensive with double back elbows to Quen and a high-flying splash. Keith and Darius lock horns in the center of the ring, with Keith sending Darius crashing to the outside with a powerful dropkick.

Komander, determined to dominate, locks Sydal in a painful Bow and Arrow hold on the apron. Dante, ever the showman, leaps over them, taking down everyone outside the ring. Sydal counters with a devastating double knee drop off the top rope onto Komander. Penta retaliates with the Fear Factor, while Kassidy connects with a neckbreaker on Sydal.

Kassidy and Quen try to take down the resilient Penta, but his boot to Sydal's midsection and a final Fear Factor seal the deal, securing victory for Penta and his team.

WINNER: Penta El Zero Miedo, Komander and Bryan Keith

After the trios match frenzy, we cut backstage to The Outcasts huddle with Renee Paquette. Saraya, exuding confidence, delivers a message to Ruby Soho, promising retribution. Adding fuel to the fire, she announces her brother, Zac Knight, has officially joined the All Elite ranks.

The scene shifts back to ringside, where the seasoned Young Bucks strut down to the squared circle. Their opponents, Cappuccino Jones and Jonny Lyons, await, ready for a clash of veteran experience versus youthful ambition.

The Young Bucks vs. Cappuccino Jones and Jonny Lyons

The Young Bucks Soar to Victory with a Textbook Tag Team Maneuver!
Nicholas and Lyons ignite the match! The bell rings, and Nicholas unleashes a flurry of right hands, peppering Lyons' spine. Matthew, sensing opportunity, tags in and continues the punishment with more punishing right hands, culminating in a thunderous DDT.

With Lyons reeling, Nicholas flies back in, connecting with a devastating discus lariat on Jones. He tags Matthew once more, and the seasoned duo ascends to the top rope, their synchronized movements a testament to their experience. The final blow lands with the grace and power of the TK Driver, sealing their victory.

WINNER: The Young Bucks

Nicholas Jackson confronts the referee for calling him "Nick," threatens a fine, then apologizes to Tony Schiavone for an incident involving the EVP Trigger. They present him with a gift card but refuse to rescind the fine. Matthew Jackson warns Schiavone about their plans for Sting and Darby Allin at AEW Revolution. Sammy Guevara enters the ring after the break.

Tony Schiavone Speaks With Sammy Guevara

Tony Schiavone delves into the fallout of Sammy Guevara's fiery encounter with Jeff Hardy. Guevara, while acknowledging the thrill of facing his childhood hero, expresses frustration about Powerhouse Hobbs' table-aided interference. He declares Hobbs a star in his own right, but implies it's too late for him to realize it. Guevara then issues a bold challenge, calling Hobbs to the ring.

Instead, the cunning Don Callis emerges, his words dripping with scorn. He dismisses Guevara's recent accomplishments, focusing solely on his newborn baby. Callis paints fatherhood as a weakness, a stark contrast to the "great athlete" he saw in Guevara before. The venom in his voice is clear: Guevara is no longer worthy of joining The Don Callis Family, deemed "weak" and "pathetic."

The tension explodes as Hobbs attempts a sneak attack. Guevara, ever vigilant, leaps over the top rope and sends Hobbs crashing to the canvas. He grabs a chair, its metallic gleam reflecting the animosity in the air. With a sickening crack, the chair connects with Hobbs' spine, followed by a brutal midsection strike and another spine-shattering blow. Hobbs, refusing to back down, turns the tables with a clothesline that sends Guevara reeling. The onslaught continues with a pair of spinebusters and a thunderous slam, leaving Guevara reeling as the crowd gasps.

Attention shifts to the ringside, where Anna Jay and Mariah May prepare for their upcoming battle.

Singles Match: Mariah May vs. Anna Jay

The bell clangs, and Mariah May wastes no time, unleashing a double chop to Anna Jay's chest. The two lock up, a tense dance of anticipation before May trips Jay with a sly maneuver. Jay counters with a swift trip of her own, followed by a neckbreaker that leaves the crowd gasping. May fires back with another double chop, but Jay responds with a punishing chop of her own, the intensity rising with each exchange.

After a quick break, May connects with a well-placed kick to Jay's head. Jay, undeterred, retaliates with a kick of her own, but May, displaying her agility, pulls her off the top turnbuckle with a stunning hurricanrana. May, sensing victory, attempts her signature Hip Attack, but Jay, with a burst of resilience, sidesteps the maneuver and counters with a modified backbreaker. She then cinches in the Queenslayer submission, aiming for victory, but May, in a display of desperation, bites Jay's arm to escape the hold. With newfound momentum, May connects with her May Day finisher, securing the win.

WINNER: Mariah May

Backstage, Ruby Soho and Angelo Parker update Renee Paquette on their date, then Soho challenges Saraya to meet face-to-face next week.

In the ring, Jake Hager and Hornsby are joined by The Undisputed Kingdom.

Roderick Strong (w/ The Undisputed Kingdom) vs. Jake Hager (w/ Hornsby)

The bell clangs, and the fighters lock horns. Strong unleashes a chopping blow to Hager's chest, then retreats to catch his breath. He re-enters the ring, aiming to level Hager, but the bigger man anticipates the move and slams Strong into the corner. Hager throws Strong across the ring like a ragdoll, then charges towards him. Strong, sensing the danger, leaps out of the ring, with Hager hot on his heels. Hager drags him back into the squared circle, where Strong retaliates with a flurry of right punches to the spine. Unfazed, Hager delivers a powerful kick that sends Strong flying across the ring before dropping him with a clothesline.

After a commercial break, Strong connects with a well-timed kick to Hager's midsection, followed by a devastating Angle Slam. Outside the ring, chaos erupts as Hornsby, Taven, and Bennett square off. Suddenly, Orange Cassidy replaces Hornsby and tosses his signature purple hat to Hager. Cassidy engages in a brawl with Taven and Bennett while Hager, sporting the hat, overpowers Strong inside the ring. He connects with his signature Hager Bomb and attempts a pin, but Strong shows incredible resilience and kicks out.

On the outside, Taven overpowers the flamboyant Cassidy. Inside the ring, Strong delivers a thunderous jawbreaker to Hager. Undeterred, Hager counters with a Doctor Bomb and goes for the pin, but Strong refuses to stay down. Hager attempts to lock in a punishing Ankle Lock, but the referee gets distracted by Cassidy being unceremoniously dumped back into the ring. Taven and Bennett, seeing an opportunity, jump onto the apron, but Hager swiftly sends them crashing to the mat with powerful blows. However, Hager's momentary lapse in concentration proves costly as Strong nails him with a jumping knee strike, securing the hard-fought victory.

WINNER: Roderick Strong

AEW Dynamite 3/20 Maintains Audience, Rampage Reaches Highest Numbers In Over A Year

AEW's flagship show, Dynamite, remained consistent in viewership on March 20th. According to Wrestlenomics, the show drew 800,000 viewers, a slight increase from the previous week's 798,000. The key demographic rating (18-49) also held steady at 0.27. ## However, the big story comes from AEW Rampage. Airing in a special Wednesday night slot following Dynamite on TBS, Rampage saw a significant jump in viewership. Wrestlenomics reports 541,000 viewers tuned in, a major rise from the 327,000 on its usual Friday night slot on TNT. This marks Rampage's highest viewership since January of 2023. ## The demo rating for Rampage also saw a positive change. The show scored a 0.18 rating in the key demographic, up from the 0.11 it received last week. This is the highest rating Rampage has achieved since April 2022. ## The special Wednesday airing is likely a factor in Rampage's strong showing. By following Dynamite on the same night and channel, it benefited from a larger audience already tuned in. Whether this success translates to a permanent time slot shift remains to be seen, but it certainly highlights the potential of a strong lead-in. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...
