A Film on Former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee Announced

Mumbai, June 28 - The biopic of former Prime Minister of India and Bharat Ratna, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee is in development. Producer Vinod Bhanushali and Sandeep Singh have joined hands to bring the epic life story of the late PM of India to the big screen.



The movie, titled "Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon Yeh Desh Rehna Chahiye - Atal", will be an adaptation of Penguin Random House India's book The Untold Vajpayee: Politician And Paradox by author Ullekh NP. While the cast and crew of the movie are yet to be announced, it will start shooting early next year and will be released on Christmas 2023, which will also mark the 99th birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji.



The movie will be produced by Vinod Bhanushali, Sandeep Singh, Sam Khan, Vishal Gurnani, and Kamlesh Bhanushali and co-produced by Juhi Parekh Mehta, Zeeshan Ahmad, and Shivv Sharma. The makers also released the motion poster of the movie.



Atal Bihari Vajpayee served three terms as the prime minister of India, first for a term of 13 days in 1996, then for a period of 13 months from 1998 to 1999, followed by a full term from 1999 to 2004. He was one of the co-founders and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the first Indian prime minister not of the Indian National Congress to serve a full term in office.



During Atal Ji's tenure as prime minister, India carried out the Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998, on which a movie titled "Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran" was also released in 2018 starring John Abraham. In 2015, Atal Ji was conferred India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, by the president of India, Pranab Mukherjee. He died in August 2018 at the age of 93 years.
