Mumbai, August 16 - Director Raaj Shaandilyaa and actor Ayushmann Khurrana return with the sequel to their 2019's super hit comedy-drama film "Dream Girl". Ananya Panday is the female lead this time, replacing Nushrat Bharucha from the original movie.
"Dream Girl 2" is scheduled to release on August 25 and this is the best bet for Ayushmann Khurrana as far as the box office prospects are concerned. Meanwhile, the movie has been certified with a "U/A" certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an approved runtime of 2 hours and 13 minutes. (133 minutes).
The original movie's runtime was almost similar to its predecessor with 132 minutes (2 hours and 12 minutes) while it also got a "U/A" certificate from the censor board. As far as the box office collection is concerned, "Dream Girl" grossed 195 crores worldwide, including 163 crores domestically.
"Dream Girl 2" may not have a smooth outing at the box office due to the strong trend of the latest sensation "Gadar 2" as well as "OMG 2". The movie, however, should get the benefit of being the sequel to a very successful film and may start with a decent collection.
Produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures, the sequel also stars Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, Manoj Joshi, and Seema Pahwa in key roles.
