BCCI Announced Team India Squad For ICC Men's T20 World Cup

Mumbai, September 8, 2021: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Team India squad for the Men's T20 World Cup. The big news is that ace spinner R Ashwin has returned to the 15-member squad while the wrist-spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have been left out for the multi-team event to be held in UAE.



Ashwin last played a T20I in July 2017 against the West Indies. He captained the Punjab team in the IPL in the 2018 and 2019 seasons and Delhi Capitals in 2020. He bagged 38 wickets in three seasons, he captioned.



Former India world cup winning captain MS Dhoni will also be with the Indian team as a mentor for the tournament, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said while announcing the squad on Wednesday (September 8). Apart from Chahal and Kuldeep, Shikhar Dhawan, who recently captained the limited-overs side in Sri Lanka, has also been left out from the squad.



Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, and Shardul Thakur will be the reserves for the Indian team.

Squad: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma (vc), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohd Shami.
