Bobby Lashley Is Uncertain About His Matchup At WWE WrestleMania 39

Despite WrestleMania 39 being just around the corner, Bobby Lashley is still uncertain about his plans for the event. While it seemed that Lashley was set to collide with Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania, references to the match have been noticeably absent in recent weeks.

As of now, it appears that Lashley's involvement in WrestleMania will be limited to the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, which is set to take place on WWE SmackDown.

During an interview with Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Bobby Lashley was asked about the atmosphere of WrestleMania.

It's a big fight feel, WrestleMania is always going to be that way. Right now, we're trying to figure out what I'm going to do, being the All Mighty former WWE Champion and everything like that, still in search of finding that big matchup. That's what everybody wants to do when they go to WrestleMania, they want to have a big iconic matchup in front of hundreds of thousands of fans and do what we love. Right now, I'm kind of half and half, getting ready for it and preparing for that day. I have a big match on Friday night, hopefully, that trickles over and causes something big for Saturday or Sunday."

"I have no idea. All I know is that I think I provoke fear in a lot of people. You can go out there with me, we can have a great match, but at the end of the day, The All Mighty always comes through. I'm looking for him, I'm looking for whoever wants to step up. Right now, a lot of people in the business are looking like, 'this is going to be a fun match for me.' If you want a real challenge, I'm the real challenge for anybody on the roster."

The Rock's Absence Causes WWE To Alter WrestleMania 39's Championship Lineup And Introduce New Title Belt

Several months ago, WrestlingNews.co first reported plans for two colossal championship matches at the forthcoming WWE WrestleMania 39. According to the report, the intention was to divide the WWE Championship and the Universal Championship eventually. ## At the previous WrestleMania 38, the Universal Champion Roman Reigns conquered WWE Champion Brock Lesnar to merge the titles. ## WrestlingNews.co's report highlighted that the initial blueprint for the first night of WrestleMania 39 was for either Cody Rhodes or Drew McIntyre to confront Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship, while Reigns would take on The Rock. However, WWE had to revise their plans as soon as they found out that The Rock would not partake in the match. ## This Monday, Triple H announced that a new World Heavyweight Champion would be crowned on May 27 at WWE Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. Although unconfirmed, based on the hints dropped on Raw, it appears that Rollins is the leading contender to become the inaugural champion. ## According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the inception of the decision to introduce a second top title belt dates back to WrestleMania 38. ## Meltzer wrote, “The idea of bringing back the second title dates back literally to when the titles were unified at the April 3, 2022, WrestleMania show in Dallas when Roman Reigns beat Brock Lesnar. We had been told before the match that the company felt it needed two titles, but also based on the Mania stipulation, it had to wait a certain length of time before creating the second one.” ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin's WrestleMania 39 Match With Top WWE Star Derailed By TV Show Schedule

Despite the favorable reception of WWE WrestleMania 39 by numerous fans, a contingent of enthusiasts lamented the conspicuous absence of the legendary 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin from the event, particularly in the wake of his comeback to the ring at WWE WrestleMania 38. ## In a recent interview with Bleacher Report, the 'Texas Rattlesnake' disclosed that a definite proposition was in place for him to engage in a highly anticipated bout at WrestleMania 39 with one of the company's top-tier performers. However, the production schedule for his television program ultimately thwarted this potential clash of titans. ## "People have asked me, 'Why didn't do you do 'Mania?' They asked me, but I didn't know what my life was going to look like until I was done with this show. I finished up on the show four days before WrestleMania. I drove every single mile in an RV and I brought dumbbells with me, a sandbag and a kettle bell, so I got my workouts in. ## The concrete idea was a match. It was a match with one of the top guys in the business, period. I'll let everybody speculate about that, but yeah, it was a match and I just didn't think I could get ready for it in time because I didn't know my schedule, which is what I told them. 'I don't know what my life looks like until I finish this show.'" ## Special thanks to Bleacher Report & Graham Matthews for the quote(s). ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.

Road Dogg Defends WWE's Decision For Roman Reigns To Retain Against Cody Rhodes At WrestleMania 39 WWE News

Road Dogg Defends WWE's Decision For Roman Reigns To Retain Against Cody Rhodes At WrestleMania 39

According to Brian James, aka Road Dogg, who is currently a WWE Executive and also a Hall of Famer, the decision for Roman Reigns to retain the WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39 was a strategic one for the company. James stated in a recent episode of his podcast 'Oh...You Didn't Know?' that a victory for Rhodes would not have been a smart business move. ## James explained that the storyline leading up to the match was focused on Rhodes' desire to fulfill his father Dusty Rhodes' legacy and claim the top prize in WWE. However, he believes that the outcome of the match was not the end of Rhodes' title chase, but rather the closing of a chapter in his story. James implied that Rhodes may have more opportunities in the future to pursue the championship, and a victory at WrestleMania 39 may not have allowed for further storylines to develop. ## James also mentioned that from a business standpoint, keeping the title on Reigns, who was portrayed as a dominant and top heel (villainous character) at the time, was a strategic decision to maintain his momentum and elevate his status as a top champion in the company. He added that sometimes, in the wrestling business, unexpected outcomes and decisions are made to create drama, suspense, and future opportunities for storytelling. ## “The argument is a legitimate one to go back now that history has told that story and go, ‘Okay. Should he have got it then? Should he won it then?’ Like, man, I don’t think that’s smart business. I think that’s great booking if you’re a fan, but I don’t think it’s smart business. If you tell the story and go, ‘The end,’ close the book. Then, ‘Okay, now we got to start over,’ I just feel like this was just a chapter closing. ## He came in, and this has been said by some people that speak about wrestling that kinda know what they’re talking about, he came in, and he had no adversity. He went right through the Rumble, right through everybody, and right to the champion. So the argument could be made, ‘Man if you just give it to him now, did he earn it?’ ## Yes, he has over the extension of his career, for sure, if you can tell that whole story, and they have tried to tell that whole story as much as they could if you see in the promos, they talk a lot about what all he’s done because that’s a really cool part of his story is what he has accomplished in this industry. By himself, you know what I mean? Like, I mean, yes, he’s had some help. Yes, his father was a wrestler, his brother, all that. Man, he came in and changed the game a little bit, and kudos to him for that. ## So really, it’s a bigger picture conversation. Whether he has the title around his waist right now or not, let’s just stop and think about what Cody’s done and accomplished from a human standpoint. Holy mackerel, this dude’s an entrepreneur in the industry of sports entertainment, and that has never existed before.” ## H/T: Fightful for the above transcription ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.

Cody Rhodes' WrestleMania 38 WWE Title Bid Foiled By Roman Reigns' Secret Victory Plan

Roman Reigns retaining the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 39 against Cody Rhodes was always the WWE's plan. After making a return to WWE at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes expressed his desire to become WWE Champion. ## He was given an opportunity to do so after recovering from an injury, entering the men's Royal Rumble match at number 30 and winning it, which earned him a shot at Roman Reigns' Undisputed WWE Universal Title. Many believed that Rhodes was the one to put an end to Reigns' dominance at the top of WWE. ## The company built up to their showdown, which served as the main event of the second night of WrestleMania. However, outside interference from The Usos led to Rhodes' defeat, as Solo Sikoa hit him with the Samoan Spike. ## The finish of the match came as a shock to many fans, but according to Dave Meltzer's report in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plan was always for Reigns to retain his title. The outcome of the match was predetermined, and the company never intended for Rhodes to walk away with the championship. ## “Reigns winning was always the plan, although it was kept secret and almost nobody knew," Dave Meltzer noted the following about the finish. ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.
