IMDb Releases The List of Highest-Rated Films From The Turn of The Century (00s)

Los Angeles, August 28 - IMDb has been one of the most trusted sites when it comes to the fair ratings of movies and tv shows. The website has time and again revealed the list of top-rated films and shows for the respective years and decades or centuries.

Keeping up with the trend, IMDb has now released the list of the highest-rated films of the 21st century worldwide. The list is topped by Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, which has got 9 out of 10 ratings on the platform. It is also the joint highest-rated Batman movie on Rotten Tomatoes.



"The Dark Knight", starring Christian Bale in the titular role, was released in 2008 and went on to gross over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. It also won two Oscars for Best Supporting Actor to Heath Ledger and for Best Sound Editing to Richard King.

Meanwhile, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is the joint highest-rated film of the 21st century on IMDb. Released in 2003, the Peter Jackson-directed film grossed over $1.14 billion at the worldwide box office against a budget of $94 million. The next top-rated film on the list is LOTR: The Two Towers with 8.8 ratings.



Among the top 10 highest-rated films from the turn of the century, 8 are English films while one each is a Portuguese and Japanese movie. Not a single Indian movie in the top 10 makes the cut to the list. The top 10 films are as follows -
