Kangana Ranaut Receives Death Threats Ahead of 'Emergency' Release
The movie is based on the true events of The Emergency, a 21-month period from 1975 to 1977 when Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had a state of emergency declared across the country by citing internal and external threats to the country. It has been termed as the darkest chapter in India's democracy.
Ever since the trailer of the film was released, Kangana Ranaut and the team have been facing backlash, especially from the Sikh community for allegedly portraying them in a negative light. Things took an ugly turn when a viral video (quoted by Kangana) featuring some people, threatening to kill the actress if the movie gets released.
The actress has sought action from the concerned authorities regarding the incident.
