SIIMA Awards 2019: Mahesh Babu's Maharshi, Dhanush's Asuran Get To Nominations
Hyderabad, August 16, 2021: The South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) has announced the nominations for its 9th edition. The awards couldn't take place last year due to the covid-19 pandemic. SIIMA 2019 will be held in Hyderabad from September 11th and 12th to honor the best artists and movies of Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Malayalam drama film "Kumbalangi Nights" has received the highest number of nominations with 13 nominations including Best Film of Malayalam. Directed by Madhu C. Narayanan, the film had received universal critical acclaim and has been listed by several publications as one of the best Malayalam films of the decade.
Darshan and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Kannada's action drama film, Yajamana, received 12 nominations including Best Film, Best Actor, and Best Director awards. Mahesh Babu starrer Maharshi, which won the National Award for providing wholesome entertainment, has been nominated for 10 awards including the Best Film and Best Actor award.
Asuran, which won the National Awards for the Best Tamil movie, and Best Actor for Dhanush, has bagged 10 nominations in SIIMA 2019 in Tamil. It got nominations in Best Film, Best Actor, Best Director (Vetrimaaran), Best Actress (Manju Warrier), among others.
