Sai Pallavi To Replace Deepika Padukone In Kalki 2: Report

Hyderabad, February 3 - Sai Pallavi is set to replace Deepika Padukone in the sequel to director Nag Ashwin's sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD. Deepika, who played a pivotal role in the first part of the Prabhas-led blockbuster, was dropped out of Kalki 2 due to creative differences.

According to the latest Telugu movie report, Sai Pallavi has replaced Deepika to play the role of Sum-80 alias Sumathi, a pregnant lab subject of Project K and the prophesied mother of Kalki. The official announcement regarding the film is expected to be made soon.

In September 2025, following her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, Deepika was also dropped from the Kalki sequel. There were reports that the actor shot for the film for 20 days before asking for a fee hike, along with other demands, leading to her exit.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD featured Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone, and went on to gross over 1000 crores worldwide. The shoot of Kalki 2 is expected to commence in the next few weeks for a grand release in 2027.
