Thai Actress Lauds Alia Bhatt's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'; Calls It A Must Watch
Mumbai, May 15 - Bollywood lady superstar, Alia Bhatt's phenomenal act in the biographical drama film "Gangubai Kathiawadi" is widely being praised. In the movie, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Alia has played the title role of the madam of a brothel in the Kamathipura area of Mumbai during the 1960s.
The film was released in theaters worldwide on February 25 and became a box office. It was recently made available on Netflix and is getting all the love from the audience not just from India but overseas too. Thai actress, Arachaporn Pokinpakor has also watched the film and is all praised for Alia as she has called it a must-watch movie.
Arachaporn took to Instagram and wrote, "I loveeeeeee @aliaabhatt Ganggubai on Netflix now! a must watchhhhhh. Want to dance in India, dress in India, want to write scripts, want to watch shows, wanted cinematic pictures, wanted civilization, was satisfied with this".
Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Pen Studios, "Gangubai Kathiawadi" is the only Indian film to top Netflix's viewership chart for a non-English movie. It scored 13.8 million viewing hours in the first 6 days and was the most-watched movie on the streamer during its opening week. The movie overall scored 22.1 million views in the first 13 days.
The movie has had an excellent box office run in India and overseas. It is currently the 3rd highest-grossing Bollywood movie post-pandemic with a worldwide collection of 190+ crores. It also stars Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari, and Seema Pahwa in supporting roles with Ajay Devgn featuring in an extended cameo appearance.
