Chennai, April 27 - Thalapathy Vijay's long-delayed political action thriller Jana Nayagan is finally gearing up to see the light of day. Directed by H Vinoth, the film has been at loggerheads with the censor board over its political tone, especially with the election in Tamil Nadu in which Vijay is contesting.

According to the report by Pinkvilla, Jana Nayagan will be released on May 8th, just after the election results. The results will be announced on May 4th, and the makers seem to be in no mood to delay the release date anymore, especially the fact that it was leaked online recently.

Produced by KVN Productions, the much-awaited film was originally scheduled to release on January 9 this year. However, the censor board delayed the certificate due to the political tone of the movie. The makers tried to release by the end of January, but the certification was yet to be resolved.

Recently, the makers got a major blow when reports of the film's leak emerged. The team issued the statement and urged everyone to refrain from sharing the leaked footage to avoid legal consequences. Despite this unfortunate incident, the movie is still expected to rock the box office.

As has already been confirmed by Vijay himself, Jana Nayagan will be his final before as has stepped into full-time politics. The movie also stars Bobby Deol as the antagonist alongside Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Narain, and others in key roles.
