Karuppu Day 20 Box Office: Film Earns 1.77 Crore Gross; Needs 1 Crore to Enter the Top 10 Kollywood Movies of All Time

Karuppu is now entering the final stretch of its third week, and the numbers show a steady, logical decline as it nears the end of its theatrical run. On its 20th day, which was the third Wednesday, the film earned 1.77 crore gross across the Indian market. This represents a 24 percent drop from the previous day, which is a standard trend for a movie at this stage. While a dip is expected mid-week, the film is still managing to hold onto 2,626 shows across the country, showing that it still has a solid grip on the audience after twenty days in theaters.

The domestic trajectory remains solid as the film enters the final days of its third week. With the latest earnings, the total India net collection now stands at 188.45 crore. On the gross side, the domestic total has reached 217.87 crore. This level of consistency is impressive, particularly when you look at the massive 91,774 shows played across the country so far. The steady interest from the core audience is what keeps the momentum going even on a slow Wednesday.

According to early trends, the international markets added roughly 0.50 crore on Wednesday, taking the overseas gross to 79.25 crore. When paired with the domestic numbers, early trends suggest the total gross collection is now reaching 297.12 crore. This puts the film in a very strong position to cross the 300 crore mark by the end of the week, which is a significant milestone for a production at this stage of its theatrical run.

In terms of its standing within the industry, Karuppu has secured a spot among the top performers for Kollywood on their 20th day. With 1.25 crore Tamil net on Wednesday, it has overtaken several major hits like Ponniyin Selvan and Varisu. It currently holds the fifth position on the list of highest-earning Tamil films on day 20, trailing just behind Leo and Amaran. The steady performance on weekdays has allowed it to stay relevant against much larger productions.

Top 10 Tamil Movies - Day 20 Tamil Net

RANKMOVIE NAMEDAY 20 TAMIL NET
1Jailer₹ 2.80 Cr
2Vikram₹ 1.48 Cr

8Varisu₹ 1.05 Cr

10The Greatest of All Time₹ 1.00 Cr

On looking at ticket sales on major platforms. On its third Wednesday, Karuppu sold around 18,000 tickets on BookMyShow. Let's also look at how other major hits performed on their third Wednesdays. Jailer remains the gold standard with 67,000 tickets, followed by Amaran at 36,000. However, Karuppu successfully outperformed Leo, which sold 17,000 tickets, and Tourist Family at 16,000 during the same window. To date, the film has seen over 43.80 lakh tickets booked on this platform alone.

Looking at the performance across national multiplex chains provides a clearer picture of the urban trend. The major chains combined for a gross of nearly 28.5 lakh on Day 20 from around 300 shows, with approximately 17,700 tickets sold. PVR led the contribution with about 19.8 lakh gross from 187 shows and 12,300 tickets. INOX added 7.1 lakh gross from 86 shows, while Cinepolis with 1.6 lakh from 27 shows. The overall occupancy in these chains hovered around 23 percent, showing that the core audience is still showing up despite the film being available for nearly three weeks.

Karuppu is currently closing the gap on some of the biggest Kollywood hits from previous years. With a Day 20 gross of 1.77 crore, the film has now pushed its total Tamil net to 160.05 crore, which is comfortably ahead of the 149 crore lifetime Tamil net of Varisu. On the global front, the film is just 1 crore away from surpassing the 298 crore total gross of Varisu. Once it moves past that figure, it will officially join the list of the top 10 highest-grossing Tamil films of all time. The steady performance during the weekdays has kept the film on track to enter this elite list before the start of the next week.

Take a look at Kollywood's top 10 grossers globally:

  • 2.0 – 691 Cr
  • Leo – 606 Cr
  • Jailer – 605 Cr
  • Coolie – 518 Cr
  • Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1 – 488 Cr
  • The Greatest of All Time – 457 Cr
  • Vikram – 414 Cr
  • Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 – 345 Cr
  • Amaran – 334 Cr
  • Varisu – 298 Cr

As Karuppu moves forward, the goal will be to see how much it can add to its 297.12 crore worldwide total before the new week begins. The film has already done the heavy lifting and is now cruising toward a very successful finish.

Bandar Showcasing Conflict: Zee Studios Puts Multiplex Release on Hold Amid Screen-Sharing Battle

BY CHRISTA LINCY

The upcoming weekend at the box office is shaping up to be quite chaotic, with multiple releases fighting for space in theaters. While we recently saw Scary Movie get delayed, other titles like Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and the Hindi version of Peddi are currently locked in a screen-sharing struggle. The latest film to join this conflict is the Bobby Deol-starrer Bandar. According to an exclusive report by Bollywood Hungama, Zee Studios has decided to put the film's showcasing on hold across national multiplex chains until a fair distribution agreement is reached. The root of the problem lies in how shows are being distributed among the new releases. Sources inform that the makers of Bandar had a very specific and modest request for their release. They asked for about 3 to 4 shows in multiplexes with 4 or 5 screens, specifically for timings after 1 pm. This was designed to cater to their target audience while acknowledging the heavy rush of other films. However, because national chains like PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis are directly involved in distributing the competing films, Bandar has reportedly been offered a much smaller and less favorable showcasing than expected. Zee Studios has taken a firm stand on this issue, choosing to halt the programming in these major chains rather than accepting what they consider an unfair deal. Girish Johar, the Distribution and Revenue Head at Zee Studios, spoke with Bollywood Hungama and explained that their strategy was never about a massive, wide release. Instead, they planned for a smart release on roughly 500 to 600 screens. The logic was to build the film's presence through positive word of mouth, allowing it to have a long run at the box office rather than a crowded opening day. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The team behind Bandar also pointed out that the runtime of the film is a manageable 130 minutes, making it easier to fit into a tight schedule. There is also a belief within the team that the advance sales for the competing films are not high enough to justify the lopsided show allotment they are currently seeing. By putting the showcasing on hold, the producers are hoping to negotiate a better window that gives the film a genuine chance to reach its core audience. As the situation develops, it remains to be seen if the national chains will adjust the programming before the Friday release. For now, the strategy for Bandar remains focused on quality over quantity, with the hope that once the shows are sorted, the film can prove its worth through audience feedback. Bandar, which is titled Monkey in a Cage for international markets, is an intense crime thriller directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Nikhil Dwivedi. The film features Bobby Deol in a gritty role as a fading television star who finds himself caught in a corrupt legal battle after being accused of rape by his ex-girlfriend. Before its global theatrical release on June 5, 2026, by Zee Studios, the film earned significant critical attention during its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2025. Given the prestige of its festival run and the heavy themes involved, the makers are clearly banking on the quality of the content to sustain it through the upcoming competitive weekend.

Drishyam 3 Box Office: Mohanlal Starrer Struggling To Reach 250 Crore Worldwide

BY SUNIT JANGIR

Kochi, June 4 - Superstar Mohanlal's much-awaited crime thriller Drishyam 3 continues to perform well at the box office, but its pace has slowed considerably during the second week of its theatrical run. Despite emerging as one of the biggest Malayalam hits of 2026, the film is now facing a challenge in reaching the significant 250 crore worldwide gross milestone. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the third instalment of the iconic Drishyam franchise opened to a sensational response worldwide. The film crossed the 100 crore mark globally within just three days and entered the prestigious 200 crore club in 9 days, reaffirming the massive popularity of Georgekutty's story among audiences. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) However, the momentum has slowed noticeably in recent days. At the end of the 14th day, Drishyam 3 has grossed approximately 229 crore worldwide, with daily collections witnessing a steady decline during its second week. The film's India gross collections are around 118 crores, while overseas markets have contributed approx 111 crores so far. The slowdown comes after an exceptional opening phase that saw the film become one of the fastest Malayalam releases to cross major box office milestones. While the franchise's loyal fanbase ensured a blockbuster start, sustaining the same momentum has proven difficult as weekday collections continue to soften due to mixed word of mouth. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Drishyam 3 India Gross Collection 1st week - 95.10 crore (8 days) 2nd Friday - 5.00 crore 2nd Saturday - 5.90 crore 2nd Sunday - 6.20 crore 2nd Monday - 2.55 crore 2nd Tuesday - 1.80 crore 2nd Wednesday - 1.45 crore 2nd Thursday - 1.25 crore (expected) Total (15 days) - 119.25 crore (expected) With around 20 crore more needed to hit the 250 crore worldwide benchmark, the coming days will be crucial. The film still has realistic chances of reaching the milestone, but it looks unlikely to beat Mohanlal's Empuraan (266+ crore) as the second biggest Malayalam grosser. At one point, it was expected to enter the prestigious 300 crore club, but now, that mark is looking like a far cry. Nevertheless, Drishyam 3 remains a major commercial success for Malayalam cinema and another significant achievement for Mohanlal. While it may or may not cross Empuraan, the crime suspense thriller will be beating Vaazha 2 (235.25 crores) to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of the year (so far).

Deool Band 2 Day 15 Box Office: Marathi Sequel Hits 50 Crore Milestone, Leaving it 10 Crore Shy of Surpassing Ved

BY CHRISTA LINCY

Deool Band 2 has reached a massive milestone in its theatrical journey, officially crossing the 50 crore net mark at the Indian box office. This sequel, written and directed by Pravin Tarde, has clearly touched an emotional chord with the audience by blending a gritty social narrative with deep devotional themes. By addressing the sensitive issue of farmer suicides through the eyes of Sangeeta, a struggling woman who finds solace in visions of Shri Swami Samarth, the film has managed to sustain interest far beyond the typical run of a regional drama. Mohan Joshi's return as the saint and Snehal Tarde's powerful performance as Sangeeta have driven this success, proving that stories rooted in faith and local struggles still carry enormous weight at the ticket windows. Entering the 50 crore club is a rare feat for Marathi cinema, and it cements this production's status as a blockbuster. As of its 15th day, the film is continuing its steady run despite entering its third week. Live updates show that the movie has added about 0.41 crore net so far today, which pushes the total India net collection to 51.21 crore. Looking back at the 14th day, which was the second Wednesday, the film earned 1.80 crore. While this was a 23.4 percent drop from the previous day, the hold remained respectable for a mid-week performance. On the gross side, the domestic total has now successfully surpassed the 60 crore mark, currently standing at 60.22 crore. Take a look at the collection breakdown of the movie over its first 14 days: Week 1 Collection: ₹30.20 Cr Day 9: ₹3.10 Cr Day 10: ₹5.00 Cr Day 11: ₹5.75 Cr Day 12: ₹2.60 Cr Day 13: ₹2.35 Cr Day 14: ₹1.80 Cr (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The core of this success remains the solid footprint in Maharashtra, particularly in major hubs like Mumbai and Pune. On Wednesday, Mumbai recorded an overall occupancy of around 17.5 percent across 626 shows. Pune performed even better, witnessing nearly 25 percent occupancy from its 408 shows. These two regions have been the engine room for the movie, providing the necessary volume to maintain high daily totals even after the initial opening weekend rush. With 51.21 crore net already in the bank, the next logical target for Deool Band 2 is the record set by the blockbuster Ved. According to the current standings, the film needs to collect approximately 10 crore more to surpass the 61 crore net mark achieved by Ved. Given that it has just entered its third week and still has 826 shows running today, the path toward that record seems clear, though the pace of collection over the coming weekend will be crucial in determining how quickly it closes that gap. In the national multiplex chains, the film saw a decent turnout during its second Wednesday. The combined gross from major chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis was approximately 12 lakh. This came from about 5,400 tickets sold across 570 shows. PVR led the contribution with nearly 6 lakh, while INOX and Cinepolis followed with roughly 3 lakh each. The average occupancy across these premium screens hovered around 4 percent, showing that the urban audience is still trickling in to watch the sequel.

Peddi Day 1 Box Office: Ram Charan Starrer Hits 1 Million Tickets Milestone on BookMyShow

BY CHRISTA LINCY

The highly anticipated rural sports drama Peddi has officially hit the theaters today, and the response at the ticket windows is proving to be massive. Marking the first collaboration between Global Star Ram Charan and director Buchi Babu Sana, the film has already crossed a major milestone by selling over 1 million tickets on BookMyShow so far. This achievement, which includes both the advance bookings and the rapid current day sales, confirms the ground-level hype for the project set against the backdrop of 1980s rural Andhra Pradesh. When we look at the final pre-sales data, Peddi secured a prestigious position among the biggest Telugu openers since 2024. The film concluded its advance booking window with 875,000 tickets sold on BookMyShow, making it the 5th highest pre-seller for a Telugu movie in recent years. By crossing this mark, it comfortably surpassed the final advance booking numbers of major films like OG, Game Changer, and Guntur Kaaram. While it sits behind massive releases like Pushpa 2, Kalki 2898 AD, and Devara, entering the top five list suggested early on that the film was carrying heavy blockbuster momentum. The ticket sales trajectory since this morning has been particularly aggressive, helping the film reach that 1 million mark quickly. Starting from 6 am, the hourly bookings on BookMyShow showed a rapid upward climb. In the first hour, the film sold about 8,400 tickets, but this number surged as the morning progressed. Between 10 am and 11 am, sales peaked at approximately 43,500 tickets. By noon today, the total tickets sold within just the first six hours of the day reached nearly 1.80 lakh. This kind of morning madness indicates that spot bookings are exceptionally high, particularly in the Telugu states where the opening buzz is fueling the demand. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The performance within national multiplex chains also reflects this large-scale opening. For Day 1, the major chains have recorded a gross of approximately 1.70 crore( As of 2 pm in the afternoon) .This comes from nearly 54,000 tickets sold across these premium screens. While these figures represent the urban center trend, the jump in current day bookings shows that the city audience has turned up in full force for the release day shows. A national chain occupancy of nearly 30 percent on its first day is a positive indicator of its overall theatrical potential. With a runtime of 3 hours and 9 minutes, Peddi is being mounted as an emotional big-screen entertainer centered around a community-driven sports story. The combination of Ram Charan's screen presence and Buchi Babu Sana's storytelling seems to have resonated well with the viewers. As we move into the evening and night shows, the focus will be on the final Day 1 totals to see where this rural drama ranks among the biggest openers for the actor, especially to see if it can secure the second spot in his career right behind RRR.

According to early trade estimates, Peddi grossed in the range of 40 crore worldwide from premiere shows alone, including around 22 crore gross at the Indian box office. The film witnessed outstanding occupancy across Telugu-speaking regions, while overseas markets, particularly North America, contributed significantly to the opening tally. Strong fan enthusiasm and extensive bookings helped the film post impressive numbers across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Karnataka also delivered a solid start, contributing approximately 3.10 crore in gross from premiere screenings, while the rest of India added around 30 lakh in gross from premiere screenings. The film crossed the $1.5 million mark from premiere screenings in the region, making it one of Ram Charan's biggest overseas openings. Strong advance sales and positive audience reactions helped the film comfortably reach the milestone before the end of its opening day. The strong premiere numbers indicate substantial pre-release buzz and audience anticipation surrounding the film. The initial word of mouth in India also seems to be on the positive side, which is a good sign for the film's box office prospects. Featuring Ram Charan in a rugged and intense role, Peddi has been promoted as a high-energy sports action entertainer with emotional drama at its core. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) With worldwide pre-sales finishing around 75 crores, including premieres, Peddi is on course to score 100+ crores opening day+premiere, with around 40 crore worldwide already in the bag from early shows. Blast Day 7 Box Office: 3.16 Crore Gross; Kerala Emerges as a Major Stronghold with 6.36 Crore Total

BY CHRISTA LINCY

Blast is currently finishing its first week on a positive note, maintaining a steady trajectory even during the mid-week period. On its 7th day, the film collected 3.16 crore gross across the Indian market. This represents a logical drop from the previous day, which is a standard trend as the initial opening weekend rush settles into a more stable daily pattern. The film has managed to sustain 2,544 shows across the country. Directed by Subash K. Raj and produced under the AGS Entertainment banner, Blast is a Tamil-language action-family thriller that seems to have struck a chord with its target audience. The story features Arjun Sarja in the role of a disciplined karate master, and early feedback from viewers has highlighted the standout performances by Preity Mukhundhan and Abhirami. The mix of family emotions and action elements has helped the film stay relevant in both urban and rural centers during its first seven days. Tamil Nadu continues to be the primary driver for the film, contributing 1.55 crore gross on Wednesday. Interestingly, Kerala has also emerged as a very strong territory, adding another 1.15 crore gross on Day 7. With these latest numbers, the total India net collection now stands at 23.75 crore, while the total India gross has reached 27.29 crore. For a film produced on a moderate budget, reaching these figures within the first week is a healthy sign for its long-term recovery. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The performance in the Kerala market has been one of the biggest highlights of the film's first week. On Wednesday, Blast grossed 1.15 crore in the state, pushing its total Kerala gross to a solid 6.36 crore in just seven days. To give some context to these numbers, the film is trending exceptionally well compared to major franchises in the region. For example, Drishyam 3 had recorded a gross of 1.20 crore in Kerala on its 14th day. For Blast to maintain nearly that same volume of collection on its 7th day shows that it has successfully tapped into the local audience's preference for thrillers, outperforming typical expectations for a mid-budget Tamil production in the state. Looking at the state-wise breakdown for Day 7, Tamil Nadu predictably leads the way with a gross of 1.55 crore. A significant highlight, however, is the performance in Kerala, where the film earned a strong 1.15 crore gross on Wednesday. The Telugu-speaking regions contributed 0.30 crore, while Karnataka added 0.15 crore to the daily total. These numbers, along with a small contribution of about 1 lakh from the rest of the country, bring the single-day domestic gross to 3.16 crore. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) On the global stage, early trends suggest the international market is providing a solid boost. On Wednesday, the film added approximately 0.50 crore from overseas regions, taking the total overseas gross to an estimated 7.30 crore. This is a noteworthy achievement for a mid-budget production that does not feature one of the top-tier superstars, proving that the content and Arjun Sarja's screen presence have found an audience beyond domestic borders. Combining the domestic gross with these early trends, the worldwide gross collection for Blast is now nearing 34.59 crore. On the digital booking front, the film remains a popular choice for moviegoers. In the last 24 hours alone, nearly 58,400 tickets were sold on BookMyShow, bringing the total ticket count on the platform to over 6.15 lakh since release. Occupancy in major cities like Chennai remains healthy at around 34 percent, while regions like Coimbatore and Vizag are seeing stable footfalls, particularly during the evening and night shows where demand is highest. National multiplex chains have also played a key role in supporting the first-week totals. On Day 7, these major chains accounted for a gross of approximately 86 lakhs, with nearly 59,000 tickets sold. The overall occupancy in these premium screens stood at roughly 10 percent for the day. As the film moves into its second weekend, the goal will be to see how much it can capitalize on the current momentum to further boost its 34.59 crore global tally before new competition arrives.
