Chennai, August 29 - Veteran Telugu star Nagarjuna Akkineni has officially confirmed on board superstar Rajinikanth's action drama Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The announcement was made on the occasion of the actor's 65th birthday, on August 29. ## Nagarjuna will play the character named Simon as the makers unveiled his first-look poster. No other details have been revealed yet. Earlier yesterday, the makers introduced Soubin Shahir as Dayal. Hyderabad, January 19 - Superstar Mahesh Babu's action drama Guntur Kaaram is leading among the Sankranthi 2024 releases after the first week. The Trivikram Srinivas' directorial has done well during the festive season, despite the mixed word of mouth. ## Released on January 12, the Haarika & Hassine Creations' produced venture has managed to score approximately 157 crores at the worldwide box office in the first 7 days. In India, the movie has minted around 127 crores gross while the overseas collection is approximately 30 crores. ## Guntur Kaaram needs to hold decently in the coming days to emerge as a successful venture which is now looking very much possible. After the second day, on which the collection dropped by around 70%, the break-even target was looking difficult but the festive season helped the movie to find stability and now, it is in a much better position at the box office. ## Director Prashant Varma's superhero movie Hanuman is giving tough competition to Guntur Kaaram and it will soon overtake the latter at the worldwide box office. The movie has been a revolution since its debut on January 12, and despite getting far fewer screens, the movie is not far behind Babu's film at the worldwide box office.## In the first 7 days, Hanuman grossed approximately 142.50 crores at the worldwide box office, including approximately 104 crores at the domestic box office. Hanuman has already taken the lead over Guntur Kaaram at the overseas box office with approximately 38.50 crores gross after the first week. The movie is headed for finishing well over 200 crores globally, emerging as one of the biggest success stories in Telugu cinema. ## Nagarjuna Akkineni's action drama Naa Saami Ranga, which was released on January 14, has done well so far to emerge as a box office hit. The movie was released amid decent expectations and it has lived up its whatever hype it had to score around 27 crores gross at the worldwide box office in the first 5 days. ## Saindhav, starring Venkatesh Daggubati, has been underwhelming at the box office so far and is unlikely to reach its break-even target. In the first 6 days, the movie grossed approximately 18 crores at the worldwide box office, including around 16.25 crores domestically. Hyderabad, January 10 - Venkatesh Daggubati's action thriller film Saindhav with director Sailesh Kolanu will be in the action this Sankranthi festival from January 13. The movie's promotional content has been on point so far and there is excitement among the fans regarding the same. ## Produced by Niharika Entertainment, Saindhav has managed to score good pre-release theatrical business at the worldwide box office. Among the Sankranthi 2024 Telugu releases, it has the third-highest worldwide theatrical business with 25 crores. ## In two Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), the film scored 19 crores in business, including 7 crores in Nizam. Outside AP/TG, the business is locked at 2 crores while overseas rights are sold at 4 crores, according to T2BLive. The movie will need to score 26 crores share collection or around 40 crores gross worldwide to break even and emerge as a clean hit. ## One more Telugu film which will be competing during the crowded festive season is Nagarjuna Akkineni's Naa Saami Ranga. Tollywood Producers Failed To Follow Their Own Rules Regarding OTT Release

Hyderabad, November 14 - The OTT platforms have been on the rise since the covid-19 pandemic and they have also caused threats to the theatrical biz, especially the low and medium-budgeted films. To save small films, the Tollywood film industry recently announced some rules regarding post-theatrical OTT releases.## The Tollywood producers decided in August this year that all producers must hold their theatrical movies for at least weeks before releasing them on digital platforms. It was a welcome move from the producers' council and was lauded by the filmmakers. ## Despite the big promises, it seems the Telugu producers have forgotten their own rules regarding OTT releases, making a mockery of the so-called unity in the Producers council. Since the rule has come into effect, there have many films that haven't followed the 6-week rule. ## Movies like Swathi Muthyam and Ori Devuda were released on OTT within 3 weeks. Nagarjuna Akkineni's "The Ghost" too didn't follow the rule and was available to stream on the digital platform within 4 weeks. The thing here to notice is that producers do not follow rules if they are not beneficial for them. ## The Telugu film industry has been one of the major contributors to the all-India theatrical business post the covid-19 pandemic, but the early OTT release of the films has been affecting distributors and theater owners the most. While producers have been claiming that they are with the theatrical exhibition, their move indicates otherwise. After Box Office, Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra Part 1 - Shiva' Getting Positive Reception On OTT

Mumbai, November 5 - Director Ayan Mukerji's fantasy action drama film Brahmastra Part One - Shiva was released in theaters on September 9 this year against huge boycott calls but the film got the love of the audience and went on to become a success story at the box office, grossing over 430 crores worldwide. ## The movie, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the leading roles, is based on ancient Indian Astras. It was recently released on Disney Plus Hotstar after completing 8 weeks in theaters, and as expected, the film is receiving a positive reception from the OTT audience too. ## Though "Brahmastra" has already been watched by a large set of audiences in theaters, there was a section of the audience who was waiting for the film to release on the digital platform. Disney has been the official distributing partner of the film in the overseas markets, so it directly got the streaming rights as well. ## Since the movie is out on Disney Plus Hotstar, many OTT viewers have been hailing "Brahmastra" a big-screen adventure, and praising the VFX shots as the finest ever for an Indian film. Hyderabad, October 7 - Megastar Chiranjeevi's political action thriller film Godfather is doing really well after coming from the Holiday release and heading towards a very good first weekend at the domestic box office. ## The Mohan Raja-directed movie that marks Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's Telugu debut scores an estimated 9.50-10.50 crores gross, including approx. 80 lakh in Hindi on its third day/first Friday, dropping just around 30% from yesterday. The total domestic gross collection reaches approx. 48 crores in three days. ## In the Telugu states, "Godfather" scores an estimated 5-6 crores Share collection on Friday, which takes the total AP/TG share collection to over 26 crores. The advance booking for tomorrow is good and the opening weekend share collection of the movie is eyeing 40+ crores. ## "Godfather" hasn't had a big release due to the clash with Nagarjuna Akkineni's "The Ghost" which is affecting its business. "The Ghost" has really underperformed in the first three days and this could benefit "Godfather" going forward as it may get more screens until the next big Telugu movie releases.## Meanwhile, at the worldwide box office, "Godfather" has crossed the 50 crores mark including today's collection. Hyderabad, October 5 - Megastar Chiranjeevi and Salman Khan's Godfather has taken a very good opening at the box office despite the direct competition with Nagarjuna Akkineni's The Ghost. ## Directed by Mohan Raja, the political action thriller film scored an estimated 20-35 crores gross in both Telugu and Hindi languages. Chiranjeevi's last film Acharya had opened to approx. 43 crores gross but it had no competition.## "Godfather" grossed approx. 10.50 crores worth share collection in the Telugu states on the first day. It has been valued at approx. 90 crores worldwide and will need to hold well for at least two weeks to achieve the break even. Unlike "Acharya", the reviews and audience word of the mouth are positive for "Godfather" and this should help it achieve its target. ## Meanwhile, the Hindi version of the film has underperformed, which was very much expected. As per the early estimates, "Godfather" has minted approx. 80 lakh net in Hindi. The lack of promotion in Hindi and the film being a remake have probably played a part in less footfall for the Hindi version. ## On the other hand, Nagarjuna Akkineni's "The Ghost" takes a decent start considering the clash with "Godfather". Going by the early estimates, the action thriller film has grossed approx. 4-4.50 crores on the first day, including approx. 2 crores share.
