'Atrangi Re' On Hotstar: The Viewership Data For Akshay Kumar, Dhanush, And Sara Ali Khan's Revealed

Mumbai, December 27 - Filmmaker Anand L Rai's romantic-drama "Atrangi Re" starring Dhanush, and Sara Ali Khan, along with Akshay Kumar in the extended cameo, is having a good run on the OTT space. The movie was directly released on Disney+Hotstar on December 24, and as announced by the streamer, the film became the most-viewed Hotstar title on a premier day. ## While Hotstar announced that "Atrangi Re" is its most-viewed film on the first day, the question remains about the views it got. The OTT platforms have always been on the receiving side for manipulating viewership data and for their lack of transparency.## Ormax Media, a media consulting firm that tracks viewership figures of top releases across major platforms, is one of the trustable sources when it comes to viewership numbers. According to the company, "Atrangi Re" easily topped the last week by a long margin. The movie gained over 8.8 million views in the first 3 days, almost double than Sushmita Sen's "Aarya" Season 2's 4.7 million views from Dec. 20 to 26th. ## "Atrangi Re" was released in Hindi and Tamil (dubbed). The Tamil version was released due to the presence of Kollywood superstar Dhanush. Written by Himanshu Sharma, the movie got mixed responses from critics and viewers alike, who praised the unconventional plot, performances of the lead actors, however, called the screenplay incoherent and messed up with poor execution of the overall storyline. ## Produced by T-Series, Colour Yellow Productions, and Cape of Good Films, "Atrangi Re" marks Akshay's second direct OTT release. IANS Review: 'Atrangi Re': Intriguing narrative keeps you hooked (IANS Rating: ***)

Film: 'Atrangi Re' (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar); Duration: 138 minutes. ## Director: Aanand L. Rai. Cast: Akshay Kumar, Dhanush, Sara Ali Khan, Seema Biswas, Ashish Verma and Dimple Hayathi. ## Rating: *** ## Treated like a light-hearted romance-comedy, 'Atrangi Re' promises a love story with a difference, and it is a familiar but not a different tale to an extent. ## To enjoy the film, you need to empathise with Rinku (Sara Ali Khan), an orphan from Bihar who is forced to marry the kidnapped Dr. S. Vishwanath Iyer (Dhanush), a Tamilian from Chennai visiting her hometown. ## Competing in this love story is Vishu's girlfriend Mandakini, aka Mandy (Dimple Hayathi), who is the daughter of his dean, who is supposed to get engaged to Vishu in the next few days. And the other member in this love-quadrangle is the magician Sajjad Ali Khan (Akshay Kumar), with whom Rinku is head-over-heels. ## The narrative leads you through an intriguing path. It allows you to fantasize about myriad possibilities ahead. That is what keeps you hooked. But by the end, you realise that while the concept is interesting, the narrative is frothily shallow and a bit disappointing. ## The film begins on a dramatic note with Rinku frenetically running away from home, and ever thence you notice especially during the first half, every frame seems to be designed in a frenzy. Someone or the other is running across the screen. These long continuous shots are skilfully captured, and they only add drama to the scenes. ## Sara Ali Khan, as the rustic and boisterous Rinku, delivers a relatable performance, but when, in a scene with Sajjad, she breaks into English, you apprehend that her character has not been chiselled, to perfection. ## Similarly, Dhanush is charming all the way, there are times where your heart goes out for him, but once again, his character seems to be short-changed by the script, for there are moments when his emotional arch is cut short. ## Dimple Hayathi is a competent actress but with limited screen time, her histrionics is not brought to the fore. ## After a long time, Akshay Kumar looks fresh and young on-screen, and he delivers a fairly buoyant performance not overshadowing either Sara or Dhanush. ## Seema Biswas as Rinku's feisty and autocratic grandmother Dhulhayen, Ashish Verma as Vishu's friend and colleague Madhu, and the rest of the supporting cast leave their mark on the screen. ## Technically the film is astutely mounted with great production qualities. Also, the songs and the background score are loud and upbeat, and they mesh with the narrative seamlessly. ## Overall, Atrangi Re speaks about the language of the heart, but with no Hindi or English subtitles to the Tamil dialogues spoken by Vishu and his ilk, the finer nuances of the words spoken are lost in guesstimation. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Such Updates.

Akshay Kumar's 'Atrangi Re' Title Was First Registered With Salman Khan Productions, Reveals Anand L Rai

Mumbai, December 4 - Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, and Dhanush-starrer "Antrangi Re" is all set to premiere directly on Disney Plus Hostar on December 24. The movie was supposed to release in theaters but due to the second covid-19 wave and overcrowded theatrical releases, the makers thought of releasing the film on OTT will be a good result for the film. ## The title of the film, "Atrangi Re" has been attracting viewers, and now, director Anand L Rai reveals that he was lucky to get the title. In a recent conversation with ETimes, Rai revealed that the "Atrangi Re" title was already registered with Salman Khan Productions but he gave it to him on one condition. ## "Salman Bhai had the title registered to his production house but he gave it to me on one condition. He told his associates to give the title rights only if I direct the film, otherwise, they wouldn't have let it go". ## Rai also recalled, "There's an interesting story about the time when I went to the film association to get both the titles. I did not get 'Atrangi Re' but when I asked for the title of 'Raksha Bandhan', forget having attempted a story on the subject, nobody had even registered the title".## "Atrangi Re" has been written by Himanshu Sharma and the musical maestro AR Rahman has composed the album for the film with songs penned by Irshad Kamil. Mumbai, November 23 - The musical romantic drama film "Atrangi Re" starring Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, and Dhanush will be premiered directly on Disney Plus Hotstar on December 24. The movie was supposed to release in theaters but to the second covid-19 wave and a crowded release schedule ahead, the makers have decided to opt for digital release for the film. ## On Tuesday (November 23), the first look motion posters of the primary cast were unveiled. The motion posters feature the three actors in quirky avatars. Mumbai, September 28 - In the last couple of days, a number of Bollywood films have got the release date as the government of Maharashtra has permitted theaters to reopen from October 22. However, among the slate of films, Akshay Kumar's "Atrangi Re" has yet to get a release date. ## While many are wondering why the makers haven't announced the theatrical release date of "Atrangi Re", which is ready for a long time now, it has now been revealed that the makers of the film might be opting for a direct-to-digital release via Netflix. It is produced by T-Series, Colour Yellow Productions, and Cape of Good Films.## Akshay Kumar too had hinted about the direct OTT release of "Atrangi Re" in a chat with Hindustan Times. "To be honest, I haven't yet included Atrangi Re in the list because we are still mulling over whether it should be a theatrical film or an OTT release. And OTT may simply be the medium of choice for Atrangi Re, as it looks right now", said Akshay. ## Directed by Anand L Rai, the film also stars Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles. Akshay Kumar Gears For A Blockbuster Year of 2022 With Back-To-Back Movie Releases

Mumbai, September 26 - It has been a crazy day for the movie buffs, thanks to a slate of big release date announcements from the Bollywood film industry. After waiting for more than one and a half years, the rapid countrywide vaccination and theater reopening announcement in Maharashtra lures Bollywood filmmakers to announce the release dates of their pending movies. ## On Sunday (September 26), there were as many as 16 release dates announcements of Hindi movies, and six of them are to release this year and the rest are set to hit big screens in 2022. Apart from today's five release date announcements, Akshay Kumar starrer "Sooryavanshi" will also be hitting theaters on Diwali this year, which was confirmed by director Rohit Shetty yesterday. ## Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar will once again be in action throughout the year 2022. He is arguably the busiest actor in India and going with that reputation, he might have at least six movies releasing next year, including four confirmed releases. ## The first film of Padman actor to release next year is Yash Raj Films' historical action-drama "Prithviraj". The Chandraprakash Dwivedi directed will be hitting theaters worldwide on January 21. It also stars Manushi Chhillar in her Bollywood debut along with Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Ashutosh Rana, Sakshi Tanwar, Manav Vij, and Lalit Tiwari in other important characters. ## Sajid Nadiadwala's "Bachchan Pandey", which was originally announced for January 26, 2022, has been pushed to March 4 in theaters worldwide. It has almost been a year since the last big Bollywood star movie released in cinemas. Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor starrer, Baaghi 3 was the last film released in theaters, on March 6, 2020, before the covid-19 pandemic stopped the world including the entertainment industry. However, after the lockdown lifted and theaters reopened, movies such as Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, and Indoo Ki Jawani released but they couldn't woo the audience due to the lack of star power and the fear of coronavirus. ## Theater owners were (and still are) looking at Bollywood with a hopeful eye, while on the other hand, the filmmakers also wanted someone to take the first step before they go all guns blazing. And when things were looking dim, it was the Tamil film industry that paved the way for others to follow amid the fear of the virus. Thalapathy Vijay took a bold decision to release his action entertainer, Master in theaters, to provide a much-needed boost to the ailing Tamil film industry, and the rest, as they say, is history. Master grossed over INR 220 crores worldwide despite the 50% seating capacity of cinemas and emerged as a big blockbuster. ## Master filled enough confidence in the filmmakers of the different film industries which can be seen in the recent announcements. Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar joins Anand L Rai's next movie Atrangi Re along with Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush. The filming will start on 1st March 2020 and release on Valentine Day 2021. ## With Bombay Times, Akshay said, "I am thrilled to be working with Aanand L Rai, as I have always admired the way he has showcased his stories. When he narrated the film to me, I said yes within 10 minutes. It is a challenging character to play, but at the same time, it is such a special role that my heart just couldn't say no to it.
