Hyderabad, November 1 - Director SS Rajamouli's Baahubali: The Epic, a one-cut version combining his path-breaking Baahubali duology, has shattered records to become the biggest-ever Telugu re-release blockbuster. The epic action drama has enjoyed a full-fledged re-release — not just across India but also in key international markets — marking another milestone for the franchise. Starring Prabhas in the titular role, Baahubali: The Epic had its grand premiere on October 30, grossing approximately 5.25 crore worldwide. Notably, re-released Telugu films rarely have premiere shows, making this record-setting feat even more remarkable. What's more impressive is that the premiere earnings of the film alone surpassed the opening day collection of several major Telugu films released this year, which proves the undeniable legacy of Baahubali films. Following its historic premiere, the film recorded a massive opening day globally, with double-digit collections across India. As per early estimates, Baahubali: The Epic grossed around 12.50 crore on its opening day domestically (including 1.35 crore from premieres), while its overseas collections are around 6–7 crore, taking its worldwide total to an extraordinary 19–20 crore. Let alone the re-release, the opening day collection of Baahubali: The Epic would even make the most of the original release envious. Starring Prabhas in the title role, the 3-hour and 45-minute-long blockbuster had a limited premiere in India on October 30 and a full-fledged premiere in North America. The film grossed approximately 1.25-1.50 crores in its domestic premiere. In North America, the film is looking to gross around 3.75 crores, making it 5-5.25+ crores gross worldwide premiere. The Indian re-release titles historically don't have a premiere, so it is a new record for Baahubali: The Epic, and is likely to remain so. Hyderabad, October 30 - Maverick filmmaker SS Rajamouli and Pan India superstar Prabhas' action drama Baahubali: The Conclusion ruled the Indian box office for nearly eight years as the country's highest-grossing film, before that reign came to an end when Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule took over the top position following its phenomenal success in December last year. There is currently a difference of around 50 crores between the two films in favour of Pushpa 2. But the tables may yet turn with the upcoming re-release of the Baahubali duology, now presented as Baahubali: The Epic. This special cut will bring together both films — Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion — into a single, nearly 3-hour-45-minute cinematic experience. The advance booking of Baahubali: The Epic is robust, better than all the films which have been re-released at the Indian box office so far. To earn over 50 crores gross for the film shouldn't be a big ask, but it has to double it up to make Baahubali 2 reclaim its top spot. Baahubali: The Epic poses a unique case for box office accounting, as it includes both parts in one continuous feature, so the total earnings of its can't be attributed to just Baahubali 2. Since this is a one-of-a-kind case, what can be done is to split the collection of Baahubali: The Epic in half and add to both parts. If done so, the re-release will need to gross over 100 crores at the Indian box office to bridge the 50+ crores gap between Baahubali 2 and Pushpa 2. For the record, no film has ever grossed more than 50 crores in its re-release run at the Indian box office, so it needs to be seen how Baahubali: The Epic fares, even though it is certain to become the biggest Indian re-release grosser of all time. The bookings are better than many of the mid-budget films, let alone the re-release title. Starring Prabhas in the title role alongside Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Sathyaraj and Tamannah Bhatia, the film has topped 10 crores advance booking gross collection for the opening day, including premieres. In India, the bookings have crossed 5 crores, while overseas pre-sales are nearing the 5 crore mark, driven by North America. The pre-sales of Baahubali - The Epic are already higher than the lifetime collection of Indian re-release titles. It is certain to become the biggest Indian re-release grosser of all time, and will probably become the first film to cross the 100 crore mark. Meanwhile, the makers have locked a wide release of the film in international markets. In the USA, the film will be released in over 400 theatres, followed by 210 in the UK & Ireland, over 150 in the UAE & GCC, 144 in Australia and New Zealand, and over 100 theatres in Southeast Asia. Following a good extended opening weekend, Thamma maintained a decent hold during the week, particularly in North India and Maharashtra. Bengaluru, October 28 - Amid the disappointing news of early OTT release, Risabh Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 continues to draw big crowds in theatres. In a massive milestone, it has become the highest-grossing Indian film of the year, beating the Bollywood blockbuster Chhaava. Produced by Hombale Films, Kantara Chapter 1 has been one of its kind phenomena for Kannada cinema. The film's box office juggernaut has made it the most-watched Indian title of 2025 in theatres. In 26 days so far, the film has sold approximately 3.20 crores tickets in India across all languages, beating Chahava's 3.10+ crores admissions to become the number 1 movie of 2025. Kantara Chapter 1 is the second movie of 2025 and the ninth film in the post-pandemic era to top 3 crores (30 million) footfalls at the Indian box office. Yash-fronted KGF Chapter 2 remains the biggest blockbuster with over 5 crores admissions, and it, along with Kantara 2, is the only Kannada film of all time to reach 3 crores admissions. The prequel to 2022's blockbuster has also topped 1 crore (10 million) footfalls in the dubbed Hindi version, becoming the first South Indian film of 2025 to do so. The original Kannada version is the number 2 with around 80 lakh admissions, while Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil versions have sold over 1.30 crores tickets so far. Meanwhile, the film has grossed approximately 817 crores worldwide, including around 707 crores in India and 110 crores overseas, after 26 days. Despite the film continuing its very good run and showing remarkable stability across regions, the team has decided to drop it on the OTT platform much sooner than expected. At a time when almost every South Indian film is dropping on OTT after just four weeks of its theatrical release, Kantara Chapter 1 had the perfect chance to break the trend. The Rishab Shetty directorial was still performing excellently at the box office, showing no signs of slowing down even in its fourth weekend. With a strong hold and exceptional word of mouth, the film was well on its way to extending its glorious run and setting new benchmarks for long theatrical sustainability in the post-pandemic era. In its fourth weekend alone, the film grossed over 30 crores domestically, with nearly half of that coming from the Kannada version. These are solid numbers for a film that opened to massive numbers in its initial week, proving its continued dominance and audience connection. A longer exclusive theatrical run could have easily pushed the film's lifetime total significantly higher, adding many more crores to its already stellar tally. However, the makers have now officially confirmed the film's OTT release. The period folk actioner will drop on Amazon Prime Video on October 31st in Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil versions, four weeks after its release. This decision comes across as both disappointing and questionable, especially considering the film's ongoing momentum at the ticket windows. In opting for an early digital release, the team may have left considerable box office potential untapped, undermining what could have been an even more historic run. Beyond the numbers, this move also affects exhibitors, particularly in Karnataka, where Kantara Chapter 1 has been a saviour amid a dull theatrical year. A longer theatrical run would have benefited both the film's legacy and the local theatre chains, reinforcing the power of strong content to sustain on the big screen.
