'I Am Very Confident That Dhoni Will Lead CSK In 2021' - CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan

It has been a forgettable season of the Indian Premier League for one of the most successful franchises and three-times champions, Chennai Super Kings who, for the first time have failed to qualify for the playoffs in their 11 years of IPL history. ## A lot of questions have been raised over the team's future and even on Dhoni – whose own performance has been below par as per his own standards in UAE. However, despite the poor performance of the team and MS Dhoni, the faith of the franchise in the captain cool continues to rise. ## CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that one bad season does not make this team look bad. He also hopes that Dhoni will continue to lead CSK in 2021 as well. ## "Yes, definitely. I am very confident that Dhoni will lead CSK in 2021. He has won three titles for us in the IPL. This is the first year we have not qualified for the playoffs. No other team has done that. One bad year does not mean we will have to change everything", Viswanathan told The Times of India.## Ahead of the tournament, two of their key players, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh pulled out of the 13th edition due to personal reasons and CSK CEO believes that the withdrawals of these two players have upset the balance of the team. ## "We didn't play to our potential this season. We lost games that we should have won. That pushed us back. The withdrawals of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh coupled with Covid cases in the camp meant that the balance of the side was upset", Viswanathan added.## Stay tuned...

'This Year Hasn't Been Our Year', Says MS Dhoni After CSK Suffered A Massive Defeat

It has been a disappointing season of the Indian Premier League 2020 for the three-time champions, Chennai Super Kings who, for the first time on the verge of not qualifying for the playoffs in 13 years. A massive 10-wickets defeat by Mumbai Indians made sure CSK's IPL 2020 season become bad to worst.## Mahendra Singh Dhoni, captain of one of the most successful franchises, CSK stressed out again on the process but said that the players as a team haven't played to their "potential" this season. Amid the disappointment, the skipper is hopeful that the team will put their last stand. ## "Well, it does hurt. What you need to see is what is going wrong, this year hasn't been our year. In only one or two games this year we have batted and bowled well together. Whether you lose by ten wickets or eight wickets it hardly matters. All the players are hurting, but they are trying their best. It doesn't always go your way. Hopefully, in the next three games, we'll try to put our last stand", Dhoni said in the post-match presentation. ## First-time #CSK loses by 10 wickets in their IPL history. First-time #CSK fails to reach the playoffs as well. #IPL2020 | #CSKvsMI | #MIvCSK | #CSK— Sacnilk Sports (@SacnilkSports) October 23, 2020 ## "Whenever we did not get off to a good start it kept getting difficult for the middle order. In cricket when you are going through a tough phase, you need a bit of luck to go your way. But in this tournament, it hasn't really gone our way. We haven't really won the toss, when we are batting second there hasn't been a lot of dew and when we are batting first all of a sudden there is a lot of dew on the field. So it hasn't gone our way and those are the things you study", he added.## "Whenever you aren't doing well there can be a hundred reasons. One of the main things you ask yourself is whether you are playing to your potential. When you put out a playing eleven and judge whether they have done well to justify their stats on paper on the field, I feel this year we have not done that", he continued. ## While the ongoing season has been done and dusted for CSK (for their playoffs hopes), Dhoni said that the remaining games will all be about the preparation for the next year to identify the batsmen, the bowler who can bowl at the death. ## Meanwhile, CSK is in the last spot in the points table with just 6 points in 11 matches. They have already lost 8 matches which is their worst performance in the history of the IPL. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians, after an easy win moves up the top spot with 14 points in 10 matches and just a win away from the confirmed qualification for the playoffs. ## Stay tuned...

"Credit To MS Dhoni And Stephen Fleming For Sticking With The Same Side": Faf du Plessis

After the initial setback, the three-times champions Chennai Super Kings is back on track with a dominating 10-wickets win over Kings XI Punjab on Sunday. It is only the second win for CSK in 5 matches which came after chasing down a big total of 179 without putting much effort. ## Shane Watson, who had not been able to show anything special with the bat before this match, scored an unbeaten 83-run knock on 53 balls while regaining his old form. However, it was Faf du Plessis, who has been a stand out performer for CSK so far in this year's IPL, played an unbeaten knock of 87 runs off 53 balls and added 181 runs with Watson for the first wicket which is highest ever partnership for CSK in the history of the Indian Premier League. ## Du Plessis, however, has credited skipper MS Dhoni and head coach, Stephen Fleming for showing faith in the players and sticking with the same team despite some of the players were not performing well. Plessis called it a CSK way that doesn't make quick changes even after losing a few games. ## "I thought in the previous game we were good with the ball, but we didn't bat well", du Plessis said during the post-match presentation. "Today Watto was a big plus for us. A lot of guys haven't played cricket, so you hope that you strike form immediately. But when that doesn't happen, it does take a bit of time. Hopefully, our guys find their best form over the next 3-4 games".## "Credit to MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming for sticking with the side. It is a Chennai way to stick with the players more than other teams might even when others feel like making changes. It comes with experience and credit to the management for sticking with the players". ## On the other hand, MS Dhoni said that they did the small things right while following the "process" which has been his mantra throughout his career. Dhoni also stressed out at the role of Fleming who, he thinks, doesn't get the kind of recognition he deserves. ## "The good thing between us (him and Fleming) is that we decide each and everything between us. It's not like we don't have debates over selections. But it stays between us", said Dhoni. ## Meanwhile, CSK moved up to number 6 in the points table with 4 points. The team will next face Kolkata Knight Riders on October 7 in Abu Dhabi. ## Stay tuned...
