Dulquer Salmaan's 'King of Kotha' Set For Record-Breaking Start At The Box Office
Kochi, August 23 - Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan's highly-awaited action thriller "King of Kotha" is all set to hit worldwide cinemas on August 24. Directed by Abhilash Joshiy, KOK is one of the most hyped Malayalam movies in recent times which has raised expectations.## The advance sales of KOK are historic and it is said to be the highest-ever for a Malayalam movie. The advance booking trend indicates the record-breaking start for the movie at the box office. ## At the Kerala box office, there have been only two films with 7+ crores gross opening day collection, "KGF: Chapter 2" (7.25 crores), and "Odiyan" (7.10 crores), and now, KOK will most likely take the opening spot to create history for the Mollywood cinema.## KOK will also be released in other languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada. In Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), the movie is expected to score a good opening collection. Overall, the all-India opening could well be over 10+ crores. ## At the overseas box office, the biggest Malayalam opener is Mohanlal's "Marakkar : Lion of The Arabian Sea" which scored approx. 13 crores while its worldwide opening was approx. 19.50 crores which is the highest of all time for a Malayalam movie.## KOK is having a wide release overseas and it is expected to score $1+ million. The worldwide opening of the movie could well be over 20 crores which will be a new record for a Mollywood film. Dulquer Salmaan's "Kurup" is currently the second-biggest Mollywood opening worldwide with approx. 18.50 crores gross. This shows the reach of DQ in the international market and now, KOK is set to take the actor's stardom to the next level. ## The movie is produced by Wayfarer Films and Zee Studios.
