12 Years of Dabangg Phenomenon - A Cult Classic Film In The 'Masala' Genre

Mumbai, September 10 - The No.1 Grosser & the Biggest hit of 2010 Dabangg with Salman khan in a titular role completes its Glorious 12 years today & the film has gained a cult status among movie-goers now. Dabangg had a huge pre-release hype due to the extraordinary trailer & the national chartbuster songs like "Munni Badnaam" & "Tere Mast Mast Do Nain". It would be safe to say that Dabangg was among the Top3 most hyped films on ground-level over the last 15 years. ## Due to the never before seen hype, Dabangg opened to an earth-shattering response from morning shows and broke the opening day record of 3idiots by collecting over 14.50cr. Later it went on to smash the opening weekend & week record of 3idiots by a big margin. The first 3 days saw Dabangg collecting the Highest Single Days at the box office which is to date a record for any Hindi film.## Before Dabangg, Salman khan had a Superhit film wanted which proved to be Blockbuster in interiors but it couldn't run well in multiplexes due to the adult certificate but with Dabangg - all segments of an audience had arrived. From masses from interiors to Class multiplex audiences from Urban centers. The film was for a Universal audience with the Biggest universal Superstar Salman khan and as a result, Dabangg became the most watched film in the history of Indian cinema in the "Cop" genre. In scale, size, and audience, Salman khan's Dabangg is Bigger than Iconic Amitabh Bachchan's Superhit film Zanjeer(1973).## Due to the arrival of huge streaming services like Netflix, Amazon prime, and many others, web series are started being made in huge numbers in the last 5 years & most web series in India have a reference from Dabangg. Be it the Dabangg hook step, the placing of a goggle behind his neck collar, the unforgettable dialogues of the film, or the character "Chulbul Pandey." The most recent web series or film to have a Dabangg reference is Ludo and Mimi proving the fact that Chulbul Pandey is one of the most iconic characters the Indian screen has ever witnessed & Dabangg is one of the most popular films ever made.## The Dabangg performance of Salman khan is arguably his best performance to date. He never looked as confident as he looked in Dabangg. His Body-language, his dialogue delivery, and his comic timing were so perfect that you cannot even think any other actor could have played Chulbul Pandey better than Salman. It looked like Salman khan was Born to play Chulbul Pandey. Salman plays Chulbul Pandey with the right amount of Swag, Style, Grey-shade, and mockery! His screen presence is Unbeatable. Dabangg is a one-man show - The Salman khan show!## Makers cashed in on the popularity of the character chulbul Pandey and the film Dabangg and converted it into a franchise. The 2nd film of the Dabangg franchise was released on Xmas 2012 with a Record-breaking initial and ended up being another Blockbuster for Salman khan. The 3rd film Dabangg3 didn't do as expected due to content being not up to the mark and largely affected by CAA NRC protests but was a decent earner with collections of around 140crs.## Dabangg was a trendsetter film. When the entire Bollywood was following & making films just for the Urban NRI audiences(3idiots, Love Aaj Kal, Kites, MNIK, Kambhakt Ishq, De Dana Dan), Came Dabangg, thrashed records left, right, and center and started a completely "Dabangg genre" of films. Singham, Rowdy Rathore, Talaash(This is in the less commercial zone), and Chennai Express were nothing but babies of Dabangg.## If Sholay gave birth to the action-masala genre with item songs, Dabangg gave it rebirth!## Stay tuned...

Why Salman Khan's Voice Isn't Used In Dabangg: The Animated Series? Arbaaz Khan Answers

Mumbai, June 4, 2021: After ruling audiences hearts, Salman Khan's Inspector character Chulbul Pandey gets an animated avatar in "Dabangg: The Animated Series". But surprisingly, the superstar is not voicing the popular character in the show. ## Salman's brother Arbaaz Khan, who has produced the show, said that it is a completely different show from the movie and they had to make changes accordingly. ## "It's a different show and in a completely new vertical, we had to make a few changes to it. Also, the voiceover artists have done a fabulous job and have done complete justice to the characters. I am sure the viewers won't be disappointed", Arbaaz said. ## "The thought behind creating Chulbul Pandey was to make him a household favorite, and the biggest and most humbling compliment comes from the love this character has received from children. This inspired us to create an animated series based on Dabangg," he added.## Arbaaz further said that the series is an adaptation and reimagination of Dabangg. The action-comedy follows the day-to-day life of police officer Chulbul Pandey, who takes on evils to keep the city safe. Dabangg director blames Salman Khan and family for destroying his career

Dabangg movie director Abhinav Singh Kashyap recently took to Facebook and revealed that after Dabangg film in 2010, Arbaaz Khan and family sabotaged his career and the sustained gaslighting and bullying destroyed his mental health which has not only affect his professional life but the personal life also. ## The director's post came after Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on June 14, who said to be in depression for a long time. His death has also revealed the dirty truth of Bollywood that does not care about an outsider and treats such people badly.## Abhinav Singh Kashyap who is the brother of filmmaker Anurag Singh Kashyap wrote in his post that the government must launch a detailed investigation in Sushant's case. He compared the actor's death with the MeToo movement that revealed the dirty image of Bollywood.## In a long Facebook post, Abhinav wrote, "My appeal to the Government to launch a detailed investigation. Rest in peace Sushant Singh Rajput… Om Shanti.. But your fight continues…" ## "The suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput brings to the forefront a much bigger problem of what many of us have been dealing with. Exactly what might compel a person to commit suicide?? I fear his death is just the tip of the iceberg just like the #metoo movement was for a much bigger malaise in Bollywood."## The filmmaker also raised fingers on the talent management agencies who spot actors and introduce them to Bollywood celebrities promising a bright future in the film industry.## "The death of Sushant Singh Rajput brings under scanner the role YRF talent Management Agency might have played in pushing him towards his suicide but that is for the authorities to investigate. These people don’t make careers. They ruin your career and life. Having suffered personally for a decade, I can confidently say every Talent Manager and all Talent Management Agencies of Bollywood are a potential death Trap for Artists."## "They are all basically white collared Dalaals and everyone is involved. They all have an unspoken code of conduct they adhere to. Their one simple mantra is, “Hamaam me sab nange aur jo nange nahin hain, unko nanga karo kyonki agar ek bhi pakda gaya to sab pakde jayenge”. Following is mostly their modus Operandi," Abhinav Singh Kashyap added.## ## While sharing his own experience, Abhinav revealed how Salman Khan and his family destroyed his career after the Dabangg movie in 2010. He revealed that his several projects sabotaged only because of Arbaaz Khan. ## "The reason I moved out of making Dabangg 2 ten years ago is because Arbaaz Khan in collusion with Sohail Khan and family was trying to take control of my career by bullying me. Arbaaz Khan sabotaged my second project with Shree Ashtavinayak Films that I was signed up with by personally calling their head Mr. Raj Mehta and threatening him with dire consequences if they made a film with me. I had to return the signing money to Shree Ashtavinayak films and moved to Viacom Pictures. They did the same thing."## "Only this time the sabotager was Sohail Khan and he intimidated the then Viacom CEO, Vikram Malhotra. My project was sabotaged and I was made to return my signing fee of Rupees 7 Crores plus interest of Ninety odd lacs. Its only then that Reliance Entertainment came to my rescue and we forged an enduring partnership for my film Besharam."## He further revealed that "Over the next few years, all my projects and creative endeavors have been sabotaged and I have been repeatedly threatened with life and rape threats given to/for the female members of my family. The sustained gaslighting and bullying destroyed my mental health and that of my family and led to my divorce and breaking up of my family in 2017. They erred and sent some of these threats as texts, sent to me as sms from several numbers."## "Armed with evidence, I went to the police in 2017 to file an FIR which they refused to register but registered a non-cognizable complaint. When the threats continued, I forced the police to trace the numbers but they couldn't be traced back to Sohail Khan(the suspected sender). My complaint remains open to date and I still have all the evidence," he added.## Stay tuned...
