DD Knock MI Out From The IPL 2018

Mumbai Indians have been knocked out from the IPL 2018 after they lost to Delhi Daredevils by 11 runs at Firoz Shah Kotla stadium, Delhi on Sunday (May 20). Delhi Daredevils, led by Amith Mishra's 3 for 19 restricted Mumbai Indians on 163 after Rishabh Pant's sixth fifty of this season helped DD to post a big total of 174.## How DD reached to 174## After winning the toss, DD had opted to bat first. Opener Prithvi Shaw and Glenn Maxwell gave a decent start by adding 30-runs for the first wicket in 3 overs before Shaw run out himself with a lazy stuff. Maxwell also after scoring 22 off 18 balls fell in next over as Jasprit Bumrah bowled him out. After that Rishabh Pant (Orange Cap holder) takes on Mumbai Indians' bowlers and hit them all around the park. In this process, he reached to his sixth fifty of this season off just 31 balls. But before that, he put on a 37-run stand with skipper Shreyas Iyer for the third wicket.## After losing 3 wickets on 75 after 9 overs, Vijay Shankar joined the party with Pant and added 64 runs off 47 balls for the fourth wicket. Pant takes on Hardik Pandya after reaching to his half-century and hit 2 sixes and a four in 16th over of the innings. However, after scoring 64, Krunal Pandya got him out at long on where Pollard was ready to catch it. After wicket of Pant, Vijay Shanker took responsibility on his own shoulders and helped DD to reach a good score of 174 after 20 overs. He hit Ben Cutting for a six and a four in last over and remained unbeaten on 43 off 30 balls including 3 fours and 2 sixes while Abhishek Sharma made 15* off 10 balls with a six.## How MI respond to it?## In reply of 175, Mumbai Indians off to a flier despite losing Suryakumar Yadav in first over. Evin Lewis takes on Harshal Patel in fourth over by hitting 2 fours and a six. He followed this momentum in next over where he hit 2 sixes and a four to Maxwell. Mumbai Indians scored 57 runs in first six overs. Both Lewis and Ishan Kishan added 45 for the second wicket in which Kishan's contribution was only 5 runs.## Middle order collapsed hurt MI badly## Some exceptional bowling from Amit Mishra and Young Sandeep Lamichhane was the reason behind MI's 11 runs defeat. First Amit Mishra got Ishan Kishan out on 57. Before Mumbai Indians could recover from Ishan's wicket, Mishra gave them another big blow by dismissing Lewis on 74. Lewis scored 48 off 31 balls including 3 fours and 4 sixes. After that, it was Lamichhane who put Mumbai completely on the back foot by dismissing Pollard and Krunal in same over. In Pollard's wicket, it was a combination of excellent fielding from Maxwell and Boult.## However, after losing 5 wickets on 78, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya tried to bring MI back into the game by adding 43 runs off 25 balls for the sixth wicket before Harshal Patel deceived Rohit on a slower ball and caught out at long on. Hardik followed Rohit in next over as Mishra trapped him on the flighted ball. He scored 27 off 17 balls.## Cutting's cameo went in vain## Ben Cutting kept MI in the hunt till the last over with a blitzing knock of 37 off 20 balls. He was dropped on 3 by Patel and hit a six on next ball. With 38 needed off 18 balls, he takes on Liam Plunket in 18th over and hit 2 fours and a and collect 15 runs from that over. In 19th over Trent Boult gave away only 5 runs and left the equation with 18 off 6 balls. Cutting start the last over with a six to deep square leg but fell out on next ball to Patel. With the wicket of Cutting, MI's hopes were also done and dusted. Bumrah was the last man to be dismissed as DD won by 11 runs.## Leg spinners' day out## Amit Mishra and Sandeep Lamichhane were the star bowlers for the DD who spun MI in their leg spin bowling. Mishra dismissed Ishan Kishan, Evin Lewis and Hardik Pandya in his four overs and conceded only 19 runs while Lamichhane finished his spell with 4-0-36-3. He dismissed Suryakumar Yadav, Pollard and Krunal. Amit Mishra also awarded Man Of The Match for his match-winning spell.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for the reading.

Harshal Patel star in DD's easy win

Bottom-placed Delhi Daredevils beat Chennai Super Kings by 34-runs at the Firoz Shah Kotla, Delhi on Friday (May 18). However, this win did not affect the points table as DD had already been out of this competition.## Batting first, Delhi Daredevils at one stage was looking to restrict to below 150, before a massive last over gave them a big total courtesy of some big hitting from Harshal Patel and Vijay Shankar. Chasing 163, only Ambati Rayudu managed to get some runs. None of the other batsmen could manage to score big and resulted in they restricted 34 runs short from the target.## How pitch played, was it difficult for the batsmen?## It was definitely not a pitch where you go and play your shots straightway. Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult found a swing on it while Lungi Nagidi and Avesh Khan bowled at a decent pace. Spinners also found a turn on this pitch. On the other hand, while other batsmen found difficult to score runs, Harshal Patel, Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayudu played at a decent pace.## DD off to a good start before Nagidi hit them back## Delhi Daredevils despite losing Prithvi Shaw early, off to a good start. However, Shaw looked scratchy against the moving deliveries while Shreyas Iyer too couldn't find much rhythm in his batting. They manage to get only 39 runs in the powerplay. But Rishabh Pant, who has been in outstanding form throughout this IPL, played at a decent pace.## DD was looking in a comfortable position at 78 for 1 before Lungi Nagidi came to the attack and dismissed both Pant and Iyer in same over. Glenn Maxwell also couldn't do much and went for a reverse sweep before Ravindra Jadeja bowled him out. Abhishek Sharma after playing blitzing innings in the previous match, couldn't repeat that performance and got out cheaply after scoring 2 off u4 balls. With the wicket of Sharma, Daredevils reduced to 97 for 5 after 14.4 overs.## Patel and Vijay Shankar came to rescue and made the difference## After reducing to 97 for 5, Daredevils needed someone to stood out for them in the middle and they found the right people for the job in Vijay Shankar and Harshal Patel. After 19 overs, Delhi Daredevils were 136 for 5 and looking to finish around 145 but Harshal Patel had some other Idea. He went after Bravo in last over and collect 26 runs from that over including 4 sixes and gave Delhi more than enough to defend. Patel remained unbeaten on 36 off 16 balls while Vijay Shankar scored 36* off 28 balls.## Rayudu shone again## In reply, Chennai Super Kings off to a good start. However, Shane Watson was bit scratchy but Ambati Rayudu continued his fine form and hit another half-century in this IPL. He took only 28 balls to reach that. Both Watson and Rayudu added 46 runs for the first wicket before Watson got out to Amit Mishra. He made only 14 off 23 balls. However, Rayudu also got out after getting his fifty to Harshal Patel. He made 50 off 29 balls with the help of 4 fours and as many sixes.## DD kept things tight to restricted them## When Rayudu got out, CSK were 70 for 2 after 10 overs. Daredevils bowled with right line and length and made difficult for them to score runs. Ravindra Jadeja played a cameo 27† off 18 balls but it had been too late till then as they fell short 34 runs from the target.## Daredevils bowling was well on top but Amit Mishra and Trent Boult were the stars with the bowl. They both finished with same figures of 4-0-20-2 each. Harshal Patel also grabbed a wicket and awarded Man Of The Match for his all-round display.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for reading.

It is an honour to play with AB- Virat Kohli

Royal Challengers Bangalore revived their chances after putting a clinical performance against Delhi Daredevils on Saturday (May 12). AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli put 118-run stand after Rishabh Pant and debutant Abhishek Sharma's explosive innings lifted DD to 181 after 20 overs. However, Kohli and de Villiers overshadowed Pant and Sharma's innings with 70 and 72* runs respectively.## It was yet another Kohli-de Villiers show with bat as the registered their eighth hundred plus run partnership. Their highest came against Gujrat Lions back in 2016, where the duo put on an unbeaten 229 runs.## It was a must-win game for RCB to stay alive as they are sitting now on the seventh spot with 8 points in 11 matches.## "The table is wide open. It was a right time to get a win for us. It was a great feeling playing in front of a big crowd. Surprising to see so much support for us in Delhi. Again not a clinical show with the ball. We should have restricted them to maximum 160, but they played really well. At this stage of the tournament, maybe we will prefer bowling first because the batsmen can take more responsibility and chase down every total. We understand teams don't want to let us win now. Ask the opposition team to gets runs and tell them we are coming after it. That's what works for our team and it really motivated us,"said Virat.## However, Virat Kohli thinks that he wasn't happy with the way they bowled. But had all praised for his partner AB de Villers.## "I wasn't happy with the way we finished with ball. But AB told me in the innings break that we can do this and that is what helped me get into the zone and then I let my instincts take over. It's honour for me to bat with AB. We were looking to finish it with a few more overs to spare to help the run rate, but the two points are very crucial,".## AB de Villiers scored his fourth fifty-plus score in this IPL. He was awarded Man of The Match for his match winning 72* off 37 balls.## "To be honest with you it felt a bit weird tonight. Luckily Mishy bowled me one full ball out there and luckily I got it away and that kick-started my innings. I started slowly, luckily Virat was going well at the other end. Started felling much better after 10-15 balls. It's admirable to see youngsters come here and perform well (talking about Lamichhane). Very happy to be a part of tournament like this. We play for a proud franchise. The management and my team-mates and that is what motivates me,"said de Villiers while receiving man of the match.## Delhi Daredevils however, has been out of this tournament officially. They have won only three match in 12 matches. While RCB yet to play 3 more match and they need to win all three to alive their hopes of qualify for the playoffs.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for reading.

Virat, De Villiers Provide Much Needed Win to RCB

Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Delhi Daredevils by 5 wickets after Virat Kolhi and Ab de Villiers put up a master class show with the bat at Firoz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi on Saturday (May 12). ## It was a must-win game for RCB to stay alive in this competition. On the other hand, it was a big disappointment for DD as they are officially out of this competition.## Delhi Daredevils set a target of 182 after Rishabh Pant's another sizzling inning of 61 off 34 balls and debutant Abhishek Sharma's quickfire 46 off 19 balls. However, Virat and de Villiers 118 off 64 balls partnership, gave RCB a must win.## Kohli-de Villiers saga, finally!## It is the charm of Virat Kohli and de Villiers, which makes them one of the best players in the world. No total is big enough when these two get going. It was one of those days when the duo showed their master class again. In 118-run partnership, they had everything like aggression, class, calmness. However, Virat got out without finishing the game but his partner, de Villiers made sure that RCB saw through the home. De Villiers remained unbeaten on 72 off 37 balls including 4 fours and 6 sixes. While Virat scored 70 off 40 balls with the help of 7 fours and 6 sixes.## Heartbreak for Rishabh Pant and Daredevils again## It has been tough few days for Rishabh Pant and Delhi Daredevils. Pant, who is the leading run-getter in this IPL, played a stunning knock in losing cause. Even in the last match, his breathtaking 128* also came out on losing cause. Despite, Pant's knock, Shreyas Iyer, and Abhishek Sharma also played brilliantly. Especially, Abhishek Sharma who played a blitzing knock of 46 off 19 balls including 3 fours and 4 sixes.## Yuzvendra Chahal and Moeen Ali were the stars with the ball for RCB. Chahal conceded 28 runs in 4 overs and picked 2 wickets. While Moeen Ali gave away only 25 runs in 4 overs and picked a wicket of dangerous Rishabh Pant.## How good were kids on debut## They were excellent. 17-years old Abhishek Sharma who was one of the stars in India's U-19 World Cup title triumph played a sensational inning of 46 off just 19 balls including 3 fours and 4 sixes. While on the other hand, it was a historical day for Nepal's fans to see Sandeep Lamichhane playing in IPL. And he didn't disappoint with his performance. In his 4 overs, he conceded only 25 runs and picked a wicket of Parthiv Patel. ## However, Junior Dala also made his debut in this match but his performance wasn't up to mark. He went for 34 runs in three overs without taking a wicket. Surely, it was a learning curve for him.## Ab de Villiers awarded Man Of The Match for his outstanding knock.## Follow for more...

Pant played a special knock- Kane Williamson

Sunrisers Hyderabad became the first to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2018 after beating Delhi Daredevils by 9 wickets in a run feast contest on Thursday (May 10). It was one such day where Delhi Daredevils were struggling at 52 for 3 at halfway stage before 20-year old Rishabh Pant played a stunning counter-attack. He scored an unbeaten 128 off 63 balls including 15 fours and 7 mighty six. ## However, SRH chased down their highest target after Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson's masterful show with bat and put on an unbeaten 176-run stand for the second wicket and saw SRH through the home with more than one over to spare.##Rishabh Pant has been in sensational form throughout this IPL. He is now leading run-getter in this IPL with 521 runs in 11 innings. However, his effort with the bat didn't prove enough as Daredevils has already been out of this tournament. ## "It's is very harsh for our team because the pitch played better in the second half due to dew. Happens in cricket sometimes, your bowling unit doesn't click," Pant said while receiving the orange cap. ## When he was asked about his knock, he said, "I was just trying to see the ball and hit it cleanly. Took my time early on and things worked out well. Happens, it was a miscommunication (about ran out his partner), I just misjudged the run. It is a part and parcel of the game. After a couple of run outs, I just wanted to take extra responsibility for the team. It was a knock that certainly among my best ones."## On the other hand, Kane Williamson, who is now second highest run-getter with 493 runs in 11 innings, played a big role in this run chase. Je remained unbeaten on 83 off 53 balls including 8 fours and 2 sixes.## "We wanted to go out and keep playing as a team. And we have been playing on tough surfaces, so it was nice to go out and execute our batting plans. It's always tough chasing here. At the halfway mark, we thought it was a tough surface, keeping a touch low perhaps. Pant played a special knock. They had a score above par. Dew played a little part, yes. The wicket was a good surface towards the end. A bit of partnership at the top, which gave us the momentum. We were batting with intent when chasing 180. I think when you are rotating strike the boundaries start to come. It was nice to get that partnership. Shikhar was outstanding, certainly put them on the back foot."## Sunrisers will also be happy to see the way Shikhar Dhawan had played. He had been struggling since the ball hit his elbow earlier this season. However, he came out with all gun and played an unbeaten knock of 92 off 50 balls with the help of 9 fours and 4 sixes. He awarded Man Of The Match for this knock.## "The Gabbar was always there- Yes! He's back. Rishabh played an amazing knock he took the game away from us. But we believed that we'll go in with a positive mindset. I have played lots of cricket over here. I am glad that I scored 92 and I'm looking to score more runs," Dhawan said while receiving Man Of The Match.##It was a third hundred run partnership for SRH, in which Warner wasn't involved. And all three partnerships were built up by Dhawan and Williamson. ##For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for reading.

Dhawan, Williamson overshadowed Pant's ton IPL

Dhawan, Williamson overshadowed Pant's ton

Rishabh Pant's maiden IPL ton went in vain as Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson's unbeaten 176-run stand off 102 balls for the second wicket helped Sunrisers Hyderabad to beat Delhi Daredevils by 9-wickets at Firoz Shah Kotla, Delhi on Wednesday (May 10).##Delhi Daredevils after winning the toss, post a big total of 187 after 20 overs. Thanks to Pant's 128* off 63 balls. But Dhawan and Williamson overshadowed Pant's blitzing knock by the 176-runs stand. SRH chased down the target comfortably in the end with 7 balls to spare.##The Rishabh Pant show at Kotla##Delhi Daredevils decision to bat after winning toss seemed to backfire them as they lost first three wickets on 43 inside 8 overs. But it was Pant who not only help DD to recover from those early blows but also gave them a total that was not looking even near after first 10 overs. Pant didn't take much time to get going despite DD kept losing wickets. He hit three back to back boundaries to Siddarth Kaul. However, after hitting those boundaries, he stuck to 1s and 2s in next 3-4 overs. But once the halfway mark crossed, he started hitting again and never looked back after that. He took on number 1 T20 bowler Rashid Khan in his second over for 15 runs. He reached to his fifty with a six to Shakib Al Hasan. He celebrated this with a six to Kaul in next over followed by a four and six to Rashid Khan. But the highlight of his innings was those hit which he hit to Bhuvneshawar Kumar in 18th and 20th over. In those overs, he collected 43 runs off 11 balls with 4 sixes and 4 fours. While in this process, he reached to his maiden IPL century off just 56 balls and became the second youngest to score an IPL century.##However, despite Pant's 128, none of the other batsmen could contribute much. He single-handedly lifted DD to 187 after 20 overs.##Dhawan and Williamson made 188 a cake walk##Sunrisers Hyderabad needed a solid start to win this match but Harshal Patel provided Delhi a big breakthrough as he got Alex Hales out LBW in second over on 15. Hales scored 14 off 10 with three fours. However, it was the only wicket DD could manage as Dhawan and skipper Williamson didn't give any chance going further in this match. Both Dhawan and Williamson played their shots in the gap without taking any risk. None of the DD pacers could able to put pressure on either player. Dhawan reached to his fifty off 30 balls with the help of boundary to Harshal Patel. Without taking too much risk, he was able to get boundaries on regular basis. However, he celebrated his fifty with two sixes to Shahbaz Nadeem in 13th over.##On the other hand, Williamson was calmer and composed than Dhawan. He was playing a supporting role of Dhawan but somehow he was able to find boundaries. However, he reached to his fifty off just 37 balls with a boundary to Trent Boult. He changed his gear after fifty and hit a six and four to Plunket and Patel in next two overs. He hit winning runs by hitting back to back fours to Boult and finished the game with more than one over to spare. Both Dhawan and Williamson remained not out on 92 and 83 respectively. Dhawan awarded Man Of The Match for his match-winning knock.##No mercy for bowlers on such day##It was one of those days when no bowler wants to bowl. When Rishabh Pant was batting, he took every bowler all over the park. But despite being the merciless day for bowlers, Shakib Al Hasan and Sandeep Sharma were the only bowlers whose economy rate was under seven. Shakib who removed both the DD's openers conceded only 27 runs in 4 overs. While Sandeep Sharma gave away only 24 runs in 4 overs without taking a wicket. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who gave just 7 runs in first two overs, went for 44 runs in his last two overs. His figure 4-0-52-1 is the second worst figure in IPL.##On the other hand, none of the DD's bowler could make his mark and went for plenty. Trent Boult conceded 43 runs in 3.5 overs while Liam Plunket went for 41 runs in 4 overs. The only successful bowler was Patel who dismissed Hales, given away 32 runs in 4 overs.##Achievements for the players##Rishabh Pant becomes the youngest player to reach 1000 IPL runs (20y 218d). ## Pant is the only second youngest player to score IPL century (First was Manish Pandey). ## 176* is the only 3rd-century stand for SRH in which Warner wasn't involved (All three is between Dhawan and Williamson). ##For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for reading.

All-round SRH reclaimed top spot IPL

All-round SRH reclaimed top spot

Sunrisers Hyderabad reclaimed top spot- one that Chennai Super Kings had taken just a few hours ago, after they beat Delhi Daredevils by 7-wickets at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Saturday (May 5).##Delhi Daredevils, led by Prithvi Shaw's 65 off 36 balls, set a target of 164 in front of Sunrisers Hyderabad. They began well their chase before Amit Mishra put SRH in a bit trouble by picking Hales and Dhawan. However, skipper Kane Williamson's unbeaten 32 along with Yusuf Pathan's 27* off 12 guided the team through without any glitches.##DD off to the flier, led by young Prithvi Shaw##After winning toss, SRH put daredevils to bat. However, DD lost Glenn Maxwell early in the only second over but it didn't affect 18-year old Prithvi Shaw, who got his second successive fifty. He was up against arguably the best bowling attack but they were taken 60 runs in first six overs. Shaw was aggressive against Pacers, used his feet against spinners and that paid him off. He reached to his fifty off just 25 balls.##Shaw had a perfect partner on the other end in Shreyas Iyer, who started his innings slowly before he hit Shakib Al Hasan for a six and four in ninth over of the innings. Shaw, in his 65 runs, hit 6 fours and 3 sixes (including one over of Kaul in which he hit six and 3 fours in a row). The duo of Shaw and Iyer put on a solid 86-run stand off 51 balls for the second wicket. DD reached on 95 in 10 overs before Rashid Khan got the wicket of Shaw.##SRH fought hard, slow down the run-rate##Shaw's wicket open the door for SRH and they tightened the screw by not giving them any width to open their arm, resulted, DD could only manage 30 runs in next five overs and also lost skipper Iyer in this process. He made 44 off 36 balls before Siddarth Kaul grabbed him. DD's chances of getting the big total dismissed with the wickets of Rishabh Pant and Naman Ojha in space of five balls. After reduced to 134 for 5 in 17 overs, Vijay Shankar's short cameo of 13-ball 23* led DD to 163 after 20 overs.##Delhi Daredevils, after the solid start, could manage only 68 runs in last 10 overs. Courtesy some excellent bowling from no. 1 T20 bowler Rashid Khan, who was the star with the ball for SRH. He conceded only 23 runs in four overs and picked the wickets of dangerous Shaw and Pant.##Alex Hales led SRH runs to chase on high##After the half-way stage of the IPL, seems that SRH found their Right opener in Hales along with Dhawan. Hales, who came in the team as a replacement of warner, waited for a long time to got a chance to play. He provided SRH same start which David Warner used to provide them. He didn't take much time to get going as he took Avesh Khan for 3 sixes in a row. SRH ended their powerplay with 61 runs on the board, highest powerplay score of this year.##Mishra strikes twice but proved not enough at the end##After putting 76 for the first wicket, SRH was looking in the comfortable position but then Amit Mishra put his experience into the game and got Hales and Dhawan out in successive overs. This was the time when SRH looked in a bit trouble but Williamson kept his head and put on a 46-run stand off 37 balls with Manish Pandey. Pandey got out on 132 With still 32 runs needed from 17 balls, then Yusuf Pathan came and played a blitzing cameo of 26* off 12 balls and saw through SRH home with one ball to spare. Amit Mishra was the star with the ball for Daredevils. He conceded only 19 runs in 4 overs and grabbed both the openers.##Rashid Khan awarded Man Of The Match for his outstanding spell of spin bowling.##For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.##Thanks for reading.

It was a great game of cricket at Kotla where home side came out on top after 4 runs win over Rajasthan Royal on May 2. Daredevils were badly needed this win as they won only two games in their previous eight games.##"It was a very important win for us. This wicket was very good and even 200 was very less. Bowlers kept their nerve and we came out strong. I dropped the catch but we won the match. We should look forward," said Iyer in the presentation ceremony.##Rishabh Pant who played a big role in DD's win, has been sensational throughout this IPL. Prithvi Shaw also has been in good touch. His 47 off 25 balls was just an example.##Iyer added," Start that Shaw is giving is amazing and Pant's role in the middle is pivotal. It is important for us to win all the matches. Ponting is positive guy and no one is thinking negative in the dressing room,"##When he was asked about difficulties while bowling in such conditions##"It is difficult to bowl with ground being small, it is really tough to control when batsman Start hitting,"##On the other hand, Trent Boult has also been excellent with ball for DD. He picked two wickets against RR and become leading wicket-taker in this IPL.##"To get few matches and test my skill set is good fun. It is a learning curve. Obviously, trying to back me and trying to pick brains of some people. We are off to Hyderabad tomorrow. We will see how it goes there. We are taking it game by game. Pant is a quality and fearless cricketer. He goes out there and plays his shots," Boult said while receiving Purple cap.##"It is going great for me. The win is more important for me. No added responsibility for being the retained player. I am using some different tricks to counter the bowlers. We are being positive because we know if we lose one more game we are out of the tournament. The intent is same in every match we play," Pant said while receiving Man of the match.##Delhi Daredevils looking more positive than they were in earlier matches. This might be the effect of Iyer captaincy but DD will take this. With 5 more games to go, DD have to win all five matches to qualify for the playoffs.##For More Updates And News, Stay Tuned To Us.##Thanks For Reading.

This was the second win for DD in 7 matches and placed themselves in 7th spot with 4 points.##New captain, new hopes for DD##It was the first game for Shreyas Iyer as a captain, and he couldn't ask for any better start than this. Firstly, he himself led DD to a massive 219 for 4 in 20 overs and later on, bowlers did the job for DD by restricting KKR on 164 for 9 in 20 overs.##Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir(DD's regular captain) stepped down from DD's captaincy two days ago. Gautam Gambhir Stepped down from DD's Captaincy; Iyer To Lead

Gautam Gambhir has stepped down from Delhi Daredevils captaincy. He took this decision after DD lost five out of six matches so far. Iyer will take charge from Gambhir for rest of the IPL 2018.##Gambhir, the two-time IPL champion, was brought by Delhi Daredevils in players auction earlier this year. But he couldn't repeat his former Franchise winning story for Delhi Daredevils as DD found themselves at bottom of the points table.## "I take full responsibility for the position we are in. And looking at the position, I have decided to step down from captaincy, I still feel that we have the team to turn things around this IPL, "Gambhir said while addressing Media.##However, Gambhir's form too has been subjecting of concern in this IPL. Despite scoring only fifty-plus score in the first match, he has scored 15,8,3, and 4 in next four matches.##"Absolutely it is my decision. I was the one who initiated the meeting with team owners. I thought that I haven't contributed enough and at the same time, the performance of the team. I had to take the responsibility being the leader of the ship. So I feel that it was the right time.##We are very much in the competition. It was absolutely my decision, no pressure from the franchise. They have been absolutely supportive of it. Sometimes when your conscience says it's right time you just take that call," added Gambhir. ## (adsbygoogle=window.adsbygoogle||[]).push({}); ## Gambhir's replacement as a captain, Iyer will be the 11th captain to lead DD in IPL. He has been with Delhi for a while and said that he is looking forward to taking the challenges," I just got the news today afternoon and I wasn't thinking much about it. I'm loving the responsibility they have put upon me and also the faith they have shown to me. I love challenges and it's a great opportunity for me to prove myself and get the team to the highest possible level,"#Ricky Ponting, DD coach said that Iyer would not be under any kind of pressure.##"It's my job, it's Gambhir's job, and it's all the players'job to make Shreyas job as easy as possible on the field. There is no extra pressure on Shreyas at all. He is going to play the way he's been playing. He ha's been playing terrifically well and that's what we want to create the team. But it's just a great challenge that we've got and with a new young captain, we are all excited to see how it works out for us in the next few weeks," Ponting added.##This is the big blow to DD's expectations, who haven't yet featured in IPL final. Their best run was in 2008 and 2009 when they reached the semi-finals. DD have been very poor since last two IPL, where they reduced to the sixth position. Now they will be hoping that with the new captain, their fortune will also change.##For More Updates And News, Stay Tuned To Us.##Thanks For Reading.
