Mumbai, February 11 - Dharma Productions' romantic drama, "Gehraiyaan", starring Deepika Padukone has been released on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Shakun Batra, the complex modern relationship drama film is being loved by the critics and OTT audience alike. ## Originally made for the theatrical release, the makers changed their plans and collaborate with Amazon Prime Video for the wide reach of the film and sold the streaming rights in the range of Rs. 100 crores, according to industry insiders. It is said that the movie cost approx Rs. 70 crores to the makers. ## The direct-to-digital amount of "Gehraiyaan" has made it the biggest deal for a woman-centric film and one of the highest for a Bollywood movie. The makers are said to be happy with the deal as they thought it wouldn't have recovered the cost if it was released in theaters amid the current circumstances.## Earlier, Akshay Kumar, Dhanush, and Sara Ali Khan's "Atrangi Re", which was released in December last year on Disney Plus Hotstar, was reportedly sold to Rs. 140 crores while movies like "Laxmii", "Coolie No. 1", "Bhuj: The Pride of India" were also sold at a high price. ## "Gehraiyaan" is jointly produced by Dharma Productions, Viacom18 Studios, and Jouska Films. Mumbai, February 10 - Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin's recently released comedy thriller film, "Looop Lapeta" has entered Netflix's top 5 most-watched non-English films this week. ## Directed by Aakash Bhatia, "Loop Lapeta" is the official Indian adaptation of the German film "Run Lola Run". The film premiered directly on Netflix, skipping theaters on February 4. Netflix released the list of most-watched films and shows from January 31 to February 6. ## According to data released by the streamer, "Loop Lapeta" was the 4th most-watched non-English film with viewing hours of 2.46 million in the first three days. The movie remained the only Indian film in Netflix's top 10 list this week. The movie is produced by Sony Pictures Films India, Ellipsis Entertainment, and Aayush Maheshwari.## Spanish movie "Through My Window", which was also released on Feb. 4, attract the highest viewership on Netflix with 33.25 million viewing hours during the same period.## Dutch drama film, "My Best Friend Anne Frank" (Feb. 4), was the second most-watched film with 18.72 million viewing hours followed by Turkis film, "My Father's Violin" with 4.84 million viewing hours in the full last week. Los Angeles, February 8 - Last year, Walt Disney company faced the heat over Scarlett Johansson's "Black Widow's" day-and-date Disney+ release, which reportedly cost Disney a whopping $40 million to settle the lawsuit filed against it. And now, the same is happening with Warner Bros.## Village Roadshow Pictures, the producers of the recently released science fiction action film, "The Matrix Resurrections", has sued Warner Bros. for breaching the contract. The Keanu Reeves-fronted movie was released in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously in December last year, which is the reason behind the lawsuit. ## Village Roadshow Pictures has alleged that Warner Bros. is prioritizing HBO Max to increase streamer's popularity at the cost of movies box office revenue. ## "WB's sole purpose in moving the release date of The Matrix Resurrections forward was to create a desperately needed wave of year-end HBO Max premium subscriptions from what it knew would be a blockbuster film, despite knowing full well that it would decimate the film's box office revenue and deprive Village Roadshow of any economic upside that WB and its affiliates would enjoy, especially as compared to a 2022 exclusive theatrical release", states the complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to The Hollywood Reporter. ## Warner Bros. said in a statement, "This is a frivolous attempt by Village Roadshow to avoid their contractual commitment to participate in the arbitration that we commenced against them last week. We have no doubt that this case will be resolved in our favor".## The production company alleged that "The Matrix Resurrections" was supposed to release in 2022, but was moved up by Warner Bros. to boost HBO Max's subscribers. The day-and-date release of The Matrix sequel really put a massive dent in its box office potential as the movie grossed only $37 million domestically. It is also causing huge losses to actors, producers, and other financial partners whose revenue depends on the film's box office numbers. ## Warner Bros. renegotiated contracts tied to box office performance when it announced that it would put its entire slate of 2021 movies onto HBO Max and in theaters. The 6-episode Disney+ series, based on Marvel comic book charactor, opened up the door to Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) multiverse upon its release. ## The series, created by Michael Waldron, was one of the most loved Marvel projects of 2021 on Disney+ and it eventually set the tone for Marvel Studios to take some of the franchise's biggest steps toward expanding the universe in Phase 4. Although, it was the most pirated show of 2021, "Loki" became the marvel project to officially greenlit for season 2. ## Season 2 of "Loki" was confirmed during the end credit of the final episode of Season 1, however, it was not revealed when will season 2 commence and will release. But now, there is good news regarding the same for the fans of Hiddleston's God of Mischief.## According to Backstage (The Direct), Marvel Studios is planning to commence the shoot of Tom Hiddleston's "Loki" season 2 in London in the Summer of 2022. It is reported that the filming is set to take place at the United Kingdom's Pinewood Studios, though the casting details were not confirmed yet. Meanwhile, Hiddleston's Loki will appear in the feature "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", due in May 2022. ## There is, however, no idea what is going to happen in season 2 of "Loki". Mumbai, January 31 - Netflix took a giant step to lure the Indian audiences by announcing the two-season prequel series of SS Rajamouli's all-time blockbuster feature "Baahubali", back in 2018. The streaming giant collaborated with Arka Mediaworks to produce the series with Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru to direct. ## The first season of the prequel series, titled "Baahubali: Before The Beginning" was directed by Katta using sets in Hyderabad. However, Netflix was reportedly not happy with the finished project, which led to the cancellation of the show, reports Variety. It was later reported that the show went through casting changes other than directors, including one who had directed two previous Netflix projects. ## However, despite months of preparation and planning, Netflix couldn't reach the final outcome of the show, which led to the speculation that the streamer has shelved the project. It was reported that the continuous delay in production cost Netflix a whopping Rs. 150 crores loss. ## While it is true that "Baahubali: Before The Beginning" is currently not in production, unlike speculations and reports, it is not shelved. According to Variety, the show is now being reevaluated, and will now begin only after proper planning to bring the best version of this story. ## "'Baahubali: Before the Beginning' is one of the country's most loved IPs (but) creating India's first epic series comes with its own challenges", the source told Variety. The comedy series, which is a spinoff of James Gunn's last year's "The Suicide Squad", is currently the most-in-demand series globally. ## Created and directed by James Gunn, "Peacemaker" was 69.5 times more in demand than the average series, according to the data firm Parrot Analytics (via business insider). Parrot Analytics measures audience demand, which accounts for the interest in and engagement with, or overall popularity, of a TV series.## The series is currently among the most rated DC Comics titles on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 94%. It stars John Cena as the title character, reprising his role from The Suicide Squad, with Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick also playing key roles.## As per the report, "Peacemaker" surpassed Netflix's hit fantasy series "The Witcher" and Disney+'s "Star Wars" show "The Book of Boba Fett" in demand. Interestingly, the total demand for the Max series grew by 39.2% in 2021 whereas Netflix originals in the same 12-month period grew only by 10.3%.## Going by the report of the business insider, HBO Max was the fastest-growing major streaming service in 2021 when it came to the demand share for originals, according to Parrot Analytics. This is interesting, knowing the fact that HBO Max has far fewer subscribers than Netflix or other popular streamers. ## "Peacemaker" premiered on HBO Max on January 13, 2022, with its first three episodes.
