Torbaaz Actor Raaj Arora Recalls How Well Sanjay Dutt Bonded With Kids On Flim's Set

BY SACNILK

Actor Raaj Singh Arora, who is currently seen in the recent Netflix released film Torbaaz, notes how the film's leading actor Sanjay Dutt has a way with children. He recalls how well Dutt bonded with children on the sets of the film while shooting in Kyrgyzstan.## "In the film, Sanjay sir takes up the challenge to protect kids from the shackles of religious terrorism. In fact for the shooting that took place in Kyrgyzstan, we had taken kids from various places all over the country to portray an ethnic mix. Sanjay sir and the kids bonded really well", Raaj who plays cricket coach in the movie said to IANS. ## "After the shooting hours, all of us would play games and engage in various fun activities. One could notice the playfulness of a mega actor then. I am sure that he is a doting father to his kids. The kids did not get intimidated with him, be it the beard, the voice, or the height", Raaj added.## "Having worked with young people a lot, Sanjay sir knew how to create the perfect environment. The kids being kids, at times do not understand what is happening. We soon began to eat and spend most of the time together. We were all gloomy on the last day of the shoot, especially Sanjay sir and the kids, now that the journey would be paused", Raaj recalled.## Directed by Girish Malik, Torbaaz is about child suicide bombers in Afghanistan, who have been trained to believe that killing the enemy is a virtue and glory in the afterlife. Sanjay Dutt plays the role of a medical professional that lost his wife and son while he was placed in the Indian Embassy in Kabul. ## Apart from Sanjay Dutt, and Raaj Arora, the movie also stars Rahul Dev, Nargis Fakhri, Gavie Chahal, and Kuwaarjeet Chopraa in the key roles. It streams on Netflix on December 11 skipping the originally planned theatrical release due to the covid-19 pandemic.## Stay tuned...

'There Is a Possibility of Going Below The Set Level', Nawazuddin Siddiqui on The Future of OTTs in India

BY SACNILK

Amid the growing effects of the digital platforms, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui isn't hopeful about the future of OTTs in India. The actor feels OTT platforms in India are getting cramped and herd mentality is seeping in. He says OTT used to be a platform for unique content but not now, it is turning into a business. ## "Frankly speaking, OTT used to be a platform for content that was different from the typical Bollywood form and had a distinctive character. I am not talking about social content, but content for the audience who want something apart from the regular Bollywood", Nawazuddin told IANS.## "At the moment, there is an overload. We have a tendency of herd mentality. With that, there will be a decline and there is no doubt about it. There is a possibility of going below the set level", he added. ## "We turn art into the trade. Initially, it is an art and then eventually turns into a business. I fear the trend of showing anything and everything in the name of a business will seep OTTs. It will happen, in fact, it has already begun", shared the actor.## "For example, I didn't expect that these types of films will be released on Netflix, which I won't be able to watch. But they are being released on Netflix, especially in India. Netflix and other OTT services have a very different set of the audience", he added, without naming the films.## There was a time when the Sacred Games star, whose Serious Men, Raat Akeli Hai, and Ghoomketu released on streaming platforms this year, was hopeful about the OTT wave in India, but not anymore.## "I thought there would be a change for the better. I thought that it would go a step ahead from the bar which we had set on OTT. Now, I don't think so. I am not hopeful. That is just declining", added Siddiqui. ## Explaining his point, he said, "Because that is what happens when people come from all directions and do business in the name of creativity. Woh decrease hi hoga (it is bound to decrease)".## "I feel everyone wants to do something or the other on OTT at the moment. This is because of business. (When things are done) for the sake of business and not for art, then it will be hopeless. I don't think there would be much development in India in this sphere", he shared.## Stay tuned...

Government of India Brings OTT Platforms and Digital News Outlets Under I&B Ministry

BY SACNILK

Coming as a significant move, the governement of India has brought the OTT platforms, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, SonyLIV, ZEE5, Disney+Hotstar among many others, along with news websites, under the purview of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.## The central government's move to bring the OTT platforms under the I&B ministry could also mean that these platforms would have to apply for certification and approval of the content they wish to stream from the I&B ministry. ## The move is clearly a big setback for the OTT platforms which will now they have to keep a check on the content they made. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta who recently saw immense success with his web series Scam 1992 expressed his disappointment at the government's order. ## Talking to indianexpress.com, the director said, "While this decision wasn't unexpected, it is still a reason for despair. This desperation for control of free speech and expression does not augur well. I am currently very disappointed".## Karan Anshuman, known for directing web series like Inside Edge and Mirzapur, called the move "unacceptable". Taking to Twitter, "Unacceptable. Viewers and creators have to band together and challenge censorship in any and every manner!".## "Whatever happened to the understanding with Mr Javadekar that OTT will be self-regulated? The govt is giving in to the basest demands of prudes. How is this progress in any manner? Don't like it, don't watch it. Don't impose your regressive views on a billion people", he added. ## Whatever happened to the understanding with Mr Javadekar that OTT will be self-regulated? Don't impose your regressive views on a billion people.— Karan Anshuman (@krnx) November 11, 2020 ## Earlier, the government had asked OTT platforms to come up with a self-regulatory system. But, in September, the government expressed displeasure at the model proposed by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). The model was largely rejected because it did not define the code of ethics and was not clear on the definition of prohibited content. ## Stay tuned...
