IPL 2020: Dinesh Karthik Hands Over Kolkata Knight Riders' Captaincy To Eoin Morgan

Dinesh Karthik has decided to give up his Kolkata Knight Riders' captaincy in order to focus more on his batting for the rest of the IPL 2020. Eoin Morgan, England's World Cup-winning captain, will take over franchise leadership duties from Dinesh Karthik to take the team forward. ## The CEO of KKR, Venky Mysore said, "we are fortunate to have leaders such as DK, who has always put the team first. It takes a lot of courage for someone like him to take a decision such as this. While we were surprised by his decision, we are respectful of his wishes".## We are also fortunate that Eoin Morgan, the 2019 World Cup-winning captain, who has been the vice-captain, is willing to lead the side going forward. DK and Eoin have worked brilliantly together during this tournament and although Eoin takes over as captain, this is effectively a role swap and we expect that this transition will work in a seamless manner", he added.## Under Dinesh Karthik's leadership, KKR have won four out of their seven matches so far this year and are placed fourth on the points table with 8 points.## For Eoin Morgan, his first real challenge is up against the defending champions, Mumbai Indians today (October 16) at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.## Stay tuned...

Sreesanth Feels Eoin Morgan Should Lead Kolkata Knight Riders Ahead Of Dinesh Karthik

Kolkata Knight Riders had almost pulled off a record-breaking chase against Delhi Capitals on Saturday (October 3) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. However, it remained almost as the two times champions KKR fell short of 18 runs in a chase of 228. ## At one stage, KKR looked completely out of the match as they reduced to 6 wickets for just 122 runs. However, Eoin Morgan (44 off 18) and Rahul Tripathi (36 off 16) had some other plans whose late show brought hopes back to KKR camp, and it seemed that the franchise might chase down 229 to create an IPL record. ## However, it didn't happen, a stunning penultimate over from Anrich Nortje followed by a cracker of a final over by Marcus Stoinis changed things and eventually won the game for Delhi Capitals to take the team on top of the points table. ## After the match, India's world cup winning team member, S Sreesanth said that Eoin Morgan, who led England to maiden ODI World Cup win last year, should lead Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, instead of Dinesh Karthik who has failed to impress with both the bat and leadership so far in this year's IPL.## Sreesanth explained that having a World Cup-winning captain as the leader of the team will certainly help the franchise who can lead the team like MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli from the front. ## "Genuinely feel @Eoin16 should lead the side,(surly not*dk kolaimandaaaiiiOctopus) World Cup-winning captain should surly lead ipl side. I hope #kkr looks at this issue.nd win ✌🏻they need a leader who will lead from front like Rohit ,Dhoni or Virat..what a player", Sreesanth wrote on Twitter.## Genuinely feel @Eoin16 should lead the side,(surly not*dk kolaimandaaaiii🐙 )World Cup winning captain should surly lead ipl side.I hope #kkr looks at this issue.nd win ✌🏻they need a leader who will lead from front like Rohit ,Dhoni or Virat..what a player #ipl #kkr #cricket— Sreesanth (@sreesanth36) October 3, 2020 ## However, Eoin Morgan justified the decision of the team management to send him to lower down the order as he feels that it is difficult to bat up the order with so many match-winners in the side. "When you look at our batting line-up, we have a number of match-winners, so it's very difficult to go up the order, particularly when you have a world-class all-rounder in Andre Russell. He is an incredible striker, and when he comes up the order, obviously everybody else has to shift down a little bit", said Morgan. ## In the four matches so far, KKR has an equal share of win and lose and currently is in fifth place on the points table with 4 points. The team will next take on Chennai Super Kings in their next game on Wednesday, October 7. ## Stay tuned...

Top 5 Fastest Centuries In ODI World Cup History

England captain Eoin Morgan slammed a 57-ball hundred against Afghanistan in match number 24 of World Cup 2019 at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester on Tuesday (June 18). This is the 4th fastest hundred in World Cup history. His innings was cut short by Gulbadin Naib after hammering 148 off just 71 balls.## Here is the list of TOP 5 fastest centuries in World Cup ## 1. Kevin O'Brien (IRE, 50 balls) - Ireland's all-rounder Kevin O'Brien has a record for the fastest century in World Cup. In 2011 against England, O'Brien smashed a 50-ball century and helped Ireland to chase down 328 with 5 balls to spare. He smashed 113 off 63 balls including 13 fours and 6 sixes against the likes of James Anderson, Stuart Broad, and Graeme Swann.## 2. Glenn Maxwell (AUS, 51 balls) - Australian hard hitter Glenn Maxwell took Sri Lankan bowlers apart in Sydney in 2015. Australia scored 376 batting first and beat Sri Lanka convincingly at the end by 64 runs. But it was Maxwell who was the architect of his side's big win. He got out after smashing 102 off 53 balls including 10 fours and 4 sixes.## 3. AB de Villiers (SA, 52 balls) - South African star and one of the greats of the game, AB de Villiers pummeled West Indies in a group match in 2015 when he blasted 162 off just 66 balls including 17 fours and 8 gigantic sixes in Sydney. Windies bowlers had no idea what was happening to them. South Africa scored a huge total of 408 in 50 overs and West Indies could only manage 151 in 33.1 overs and suffered a massive 257-runs defeat.## 4. Eoin Morgan (ENG, 57 balls) - It was England's skipper Eoin Morgan's day at Old Trafford, Manchester. He created a new world record for maximum sixes in an ODI inning as he hit 17 sixes en route to his breathtaking 148 off just 71 balls against hapless Afghanistan. It was another example of England's aggressive brand of cricket that make them favourites to win this year's World Cup. Hot favourites and hosts England eventually piled up 397/6 in 50 overs after opting to bat first and Afghanistan started their innings with a lot of pressure of huge total and hence, they could never recover from that and lost by 150-runs.## 5. Matthew Hayden (AUS, 66 balls) - Australian legend Matthew Hayden slammed a 66-balls hundred against South Africa in 2007. It was the fastest hundred at that time in the World Cup history. Australia piled 377 on after opting to bat first. Hayden scored 101 off 68 balls including 14 fours and 4 sixes. South Africa started their chase with a bang as Graeme Smith and AB de Villiers added 160 for the first wicket in just 21 overs. But once AB got out, Africa lost the momentum and bundled out on 294 in 48 overs and lost by 83-runs.## Follow for more...
