Mumbai, November 13 - The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has expressed its gratitude towards filmmaker Rohit Shetty for helping the cine workers during the covid-19 crisis and also celebrated the blockbuster success of Shetty's "Sooryavanshi" at a special function in Mumbai on Friday (November 12). ## BN Tiwari, president of FWICE said, "Rohit was the first one to come out and donate money for the technicians and workers of the film industry. It was only after that, the others came forward to help the workers, whose bank account balance became decent enough to allow them to survive these tough times".## Rohit Shetty said that he was one of the cine workers and added, "We have worked together and will continue to work together in the future". Rohit was on a first-name basis with all junior artists, dancers, and technicians, who were present at the celebration and felicitation function.## Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit who moderated the felicitation function praised Shetty for waiting so long to release his "Sooryavanshi" in theaters, which was supposed to release in March 2020, before the covid-19 trapped the entire nation. "Rohit's Sooryavanshi has chased Corona away. It is obvious from the crowds of audiences that have come out and watched his film, after nearly two years", said Pandit.## "It is Rohit's conviction, patience, and talent that has paid off and 'Sooryavanshi' has crossed the Rs 150 crore mark. The success of his film has brought smiles to the worker's faces, as there is hope for them that we will surely be back to the old days very soon", he added. ## Actor Anupam Kher, who was invited to felicitate Rohit Shetty, said, "Rohit Shetty's name has gone down in the history of cinema, but as a good human being and it will take a while for someone else to go beyond what he has done". Kher who is known to be witty added, "Next time, it may be my chance to be felicitated because I am getting a feeling that I may be part of Rohit's next film".## The veteran actor also took to social media and shared a slow-motion video with Shetty and wrote, "It was wonderful to felicitate the one & only #RohitShetty on behalf of the workers & various associations of our film industry for the success of #Sooryavanshi. FWICE Writes To Maharashtra CM Requesting Permission To Resume Work

Mumbai, June 1, 2021: The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday (May 31), requesting him to allow the resumption of work in the media and entertainment (M&E) industry.## Films and television shooting is currently on hold owing to the second wave of the Covid pandemic as the Maharasthra government has extended lockdown in the state for 15 more days. The FWICE wrote in the letter that the film body sent numerous requests regarding the resumption of work but nothing happened. ## "With reference to the subject matter, we would like to draw your attention to the numerous requests sent to you by the FWICE and the coordination committee regarding our request for resumption of work in the M&E Industry. However, none of our letters have been responded to by your good office and no decision has been taken on our requests", FWICE wrote in the letter signed by Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit, President BN Tiwari, Chief Advisor Sharad Shelar, General Secretary Ashok Dubey, and Treasurer Gangeshwar Shrivastav. ## "Sir, let us apprise you that there are lakhs of artists, workers, and technicians who are jobless for the past one and half years and that the only source of income for them is from the M&E Industry. This industry has been providing work to lakhs of hands and enabling their families to earn their daily bread. However, the lockdown of the Industry has impacted the lives of these daily wage workers who have absolutely no other source of income and are totally dependent on the work of the Industry". ## "The announcement of the extension of the lockdown for another 15 days shall really be a setback for these deprived set of artists, workers and technicians and also the economy of the Industry. Not only the workers but the producers are also affected badly with huge investments already made into the running projects which have been to a standstill due to the unfortunate lockdown". ## "We being the mother body of 32 different crafts of artists, workers, and technicians of the industry have been receiving numerous calls from our members regarding their difficult survival conditions and requesting us to start the work of the Industry", the letter read. ## The FWICE assured the government that all the rules and regulations of the Government shall be followed by each and every crew member and all necessary precautions shall be taken at each work location.## Stay tuned...

FWICE Issues New Shooting Guidelines Amid Covid Second Wave

Amid the second wave of the covid-19 pandemic, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued new guidelines for shooting, pre-production, and post-production work in Maharashtra.## A statement issued by FWICE reads, "The office-bearers of FWICE had a Zoom meeting with the honorable Chief Minister, Shri Uddhav Thackeray. The FWICE has assured the CM that the industry will be responsible where the SOPs of the COVID guidelines are concerned. FWICE in coordination with experts has laid down guidelines that all people involved in pre-production, shooting, and post-production work will have to adhere to. Please note that none of the below guidelines are up for negotiation. These guidelines as of now will be applicable till 30 April 2021".## 1. The shooting of crowd sequences and songs with dancers in large numbers will not be allowed.## 2. Wearing masks and continuous sanitization is a must on the sets, in production offices, and in post-production studios.## 3. A FWICE monitoring team has been constituted. They will be visiting sets and post-production studios to constantly check upon that all guidelines are being adhered. In case of flouting of any rule by an individual, they shall be liable for the strictest disciplinary action by the FWICE.## 4. Any individual or production creating any kind of hindrance in the path of the adherence of the guidelines, will be dealt with strictly.## "The production offices and post-production offices will be functional as we have been allowed by the government to complete our work so that shows and films can be aired".## The notice further mentions that a complete lockdown will be followed from Friday 8 pm to Monday 7 am, and shooting, setting, pre-production, or post-production activities should be avoided during this period. The notice also requests members to adhere to guidelines in order to avoid a complete lockdown, which will be "quite shattering and destructive" for the members.## Stay tuned...

After Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) filed a complaint against Gauhar Khan, the actress seems to have invited more trouble as the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), an umbrella body of over 32 film industry unions, on Tuesday issued a non-cooperative directive against Khan for allegedly flouting quarantine rules after testing positive for the coronavirus, the Scroll.in reported. ## According to the notice against Khan, FWICE has asked all Indian cinema associations linked to the federation to "distance themselves" from Gauhar for the next two months till a fresh directive was issued, permitting her to resume work in the industry.## In a press release on Tuesday, the Cine body "highly condemned" the actress's alleged actions, and said it was "indeed a serious offense". It said that the actor had not only breached the rules issued by the central and the state government but had also endangered the lives of the entire crew members who were working with her on the shoot.## "Such ignorance will not be tolerated by the FWICE and it thanks the BMC and Mumbai Police for the FIR lodged against Ms Gauahar Khan, actress Mumbai for her inhuman, disrespectful act towards the other crew members as well as the government", the union added.## "Any members if found cooperating with Ms Gauahar Khan shall also be liable for stringent disciplinary action by the FWICE", it added.## FWICE President BN Tiwari told The Indian Express (according to Scroll.in) that because of Khan's unprofessional, non-cooperative and irresponsible actions, the whole cast and crew from the project she was shooting for will have to be quarantined and work will be halted.## Stay tuned...

The statement read as follows, "We, therefore, request all not to endorse any Chinese brand in the wake of the ongoing tension between the two countries".## "It is an issue of serious concern and we should all give utter priority to the safety and security of our Nation. FWICE writes to Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray proposing guidelines for the resumption of work in the entertainment industry

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has written to the chief minister of Maharashtra state Shri Uddhav Thackeray in which the federation has proposed the guidelines for the resumption of work in the media and entertainment industry post lockdown. ## The federation has proposed 24 points in front of the CM which should be followed once the production work resumes. The proposed points are (a few of them)-## 1. All necessary medical checkups to be mandatory for all the crafts and crew entering the sets while shoots. ## 2. All the necessary personal care equipment such as face mask/shields, hand sanitizer, etc. should be provided to all the crew members by the producers. ## 3. Healthy and hygiene food to be provided to all the craft and crew members on the sets by the producers. ## 4. Lesser crew members to be allowed on the indoor shoots. ## 5. All the equipment on the production units should be sanitized at regular intervals. ## 6. Ideally, all unit members to get a negative COVID test report to be allowed on the shoot, and post.## 7. Outstanding dues amount should be cleared by the producers before starting the shoots and the payment should be made within 30 days of the shoot. ## 8. People aged 60 years and above and pregnant women to be restricted on the set for 4 months from the date of start. ## 9. Monthly payment to be cleared end every month. ## 10. Daily wages workers payment to be cleared on a daily basis. ## 11. Minimum Life Insurance Guarantee of Rs. 50 Lakh.## 12. Ambulance, doctor, and nurse compulsory on every set. ## 13. Visitors strictly prohibited. ## 14. Any person found COVID +ve during the shoots or during his travel of shoots should be mandatorily given treatment in a private hospital. ## 15. 8 hours shift. Film body warns Indian musicians against working with Pak artistes

Mumbai, April 13 (IANS) The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued a circular warning Indian musicians and singers against working with Pakistani artistes. This comes after designer Vijay Arora and singer Harshdeep Kaur recently collaborated with noted Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan through a digital concert.## "We are pained to inform all members that despite being fully aware that FWICE has issued a total non-cooperation circular advising all members not to work in any manner whatsoever with all Pakistani artistes, singers, and technicians, some members are blatantly violating the non-cooperation circular by working in various mode and media of entertainment like a recent instance in which our musicians have worked online with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan of Pakistan which is being seen online. We have been informed that more such entertainment products and songs are being planned and made," the circular reads.## The film body warned all Indian musicians, singers, artists and technicians that "anyone found cooperating or working in any manner with Pakistani artistes" will be subject to "strict disciplinary action".
