Box Office: 'Moana 2', 'Wicked', 'Gladiator 2', and Others Script Record-Breaking Thanksgiving Weekend In North America
Los Angeles, December 2—The Hollywood box office is on fire. Americans spent over $400 million in the last five days, an all-time record for the Thanksgiving weekend where Disney's Moana 2, Universal Pictures' Wicked and Paramount's Gladiator II were the chief architect of it. ## Moana 2, a sequel to Disney's near $700 million worldwide grosser, was in the mood to sweep the domestic box office this past weekend. The film grossed a tsunamic $225 million over 5-days, a Thanksgiving record and the biggest opening for an animated title. ## Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande-led Wicked was the second-best movie during the same frame, which was its second weekend with a gigantic $119.5 million, helping its total domestic cume to reach $262 million in 10 days. Ridley Scott's R-rated epic Gladiator 2 came third with $44 million over 5-days Thanksgiving weekend. ## The combined telly of Moana 2, Wicked, and Gladiator of $387+ million was more than enough to script the biggest-ever Thanksgiving weekend at the North American box office, surpassing 2018's Thanksgiving weekend of $315 million singlehandedly.## It wasn't just about only three aforementioned movies, as the total 5-day holiday weekend this year was approximately $425+ million, including Red One ($13 million), and a few other movies, at the US box office.
