Nagarjuna Akkineni's 'The Ghost' Worldwide Theatrical And Non-Theatrical Rights Sold For A Good Price

Hyderabad, October 2 - Tollywood veteran Nagarjuna Akkineni's action thriller film The Ghost is getting ready for its worldwide release on October 5. While the promotions are in full swing, "The Ghost" has generated a good buzz through teaser/trailer and other promos. ## "The Ghost" is easily one of the most anticipated films of Nagarjuna in recent years and the same has attracted the eyes of the trade. The film's worldwide theatrical and non-theatrical rights have been sold for a very good price, making it a profitable venture for the makers. ## According to the reports, the producers have pocketed Rs. 22 crores through selling its digital, satellite, and music rights. The theatrical rights have reportedly been sold for Rs. 21.15 crores worldwide. The total Telugu states' theatrical rights have been valued at approx. '420 IPC' director Manish Gupta unties the film's intricate knots

Mumbai, Dec 27 (IANS) Manish Gupta's crime film '420 IPC' starring Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, and Gul Panag which was released recently has been garnering a positive response for its narrative style-driven through the intricacies of the Indian Penal Code. ## Manish, whose credits include films like 'The Stoneman Murders' (writer and director), 'Sarkar' (writer) and 'Section 375' (writer), recently spoke with IANS and unraveled what went into the making of a film that explores the layers of courtroom proceedings in a financial fraud case. ## Explaining the germ of '420 IPC', he says, "I'd got the idea for '420 IPC' during the three years of extensive research that I'd carried out for my previous courtroom drama 'Section 375' during which I came across court procedures involved in economic offence cases - which I found to be an unexplored premise for a film." ## He adds, "Carrying out further research, I discovered that people with upper economic status and a high pedigree of intelligence and education are involved in economic crimes. So the court proceedings involve more brain work, thus lending a more cerebral premise for a film." ## Manish himself took the onus of the film's research as he says, "There was no research team. I carried out the research personally and singlehandedly by attending numerous court hearings and interviewing lawyers, court staff members, policemen, etc. I'd already done a heavy amount of research for 'Section 375', so I had a lot of basic research material already with me." ## Commenting on the value that his lead actors Vinay and Ranvir add to the film, he mentions, "Vinay and Ranvir infuse a lot of believability into the narrative. Both are brilliant actors which goes without saying but at the same time, both have the ability to absorb their characters so well that the viewer sees a real person, rather than an actor." ## Probe him if there were a lot of improvisations on the sets, he quips, "Not really, because my scripts are usually written with great clarity. In '420 IPC', as in all my films, since I was the director as well as the screenplay and dialogue writer, so while writing, I'd already directed the film on paper." ## Looking at his filmography, one can easily say that the filmmaker-writer has a knack for grey stories and characters. Explaining his fascination with grey shades, he furnishes the closing answer, "In reality, no person is completely good or bad. All human beings possess good and bad qualities, although to varying degrees. That's exactly what I depict in my films." ##

Actress Anushka Sharma and the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video got in the fresh trouble after Punjab and Haryana high court issued a notice against them for allegedly defaming Sikh Community in the web series Paatal Lok. The notice of motion was issued to the Union of India and 15 other respondents by the bench of Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi. ## The petitioner has objected the episode number 3 on “A History of Violence” that was set in a village in Punjab. Petitioner-advocate Gurdeepinder Singh Dhillon said, “The respondents have purposely and maliciously within the intent of creating communal disharmony and caste-based clashes have shown two communities in a bad light."## It is not the first time the series got a notice for hurting particular community sentiments, a few days ago, ex MLA of Delhi and Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee president, Manjinder Singh Sirsa also raised questions over Paatal Lok and demand for its ban for presenting Sikh Community as rapists. A park becomes a cemetery and a city catches fire.## Exploring the dark recesses of immorality, the series aims at being neo-noir entertainment that is inspired by the traditional concepts of Swargalok (heaven), Dharti Lok (earth), and Patal Lok (netherworld), and delves into the interplay within the four estates of democracy.## Earlier this week, Anushka had shared another teaser for the series. Mumbai, April 21 (IANS) Actress Anushka Sharma has shared a short teaser of her upcoming web project.## The project is said to be a cop-based crime drama and although produced by her banner, Clean Slate Films, Anushka will not act in the show. The series is created by "NH10" writer Sudip Sharma and is said to be an investigative thriller that also acts as a scathing commentary of modern-day Indian society and politics.## The short clip the actress posted on Instagram gives an intense glimpse of the narrative.## "The countdown has begun. To change the laws of the land, worms have crept in, who will spread terror and shed blood. They will turn the world into a living hell," said the narrator in the clip.## The video hints that the project will be gory. At the end of the clip, out of the blooded screen appears a silhouette with a sharp blunt weapon -- suggesting that he will be the person behind the bloodshed.## "Sab badlega, samay, log aur lok (Everything is about to change - time, people and era)," Anushka wrote along the video.## She shared details about the new series, tagging screenplay writer Sudip Sharma and actors Jaideep Ahlawat, Neeraj Kabi and Gul Panag and Bengali actress Swastika Mukherjee among others.## Anushka is backing the project for Amazon Prime Video.
