Filmmaker Gunasekhar Indirectly Fires On Rana Daggubati and Trivikram For 'Hiranyakashyap' Announcement

Hyderabad, July 20 - Filmmaker Gunasekhar has reportedly slammed Rana Daggubati and filmmaker Trivikram for the recently announced magnum opus project "Hiranyakashyap". The project was announced ahead of San Deigo Comic-Con event where more details about it will be revealed. ## Rana Daggubati will be bankrolling as well as headlining the movie while Trivikram is penning the script and will also be directing it. Gunasekhar had earlier announced the Hiranyakashyap project. It is said that Rana was Gunasekhar's first choice for Hiranyakashyapa. ## Gunasekhar reportedly had locked the final draft of the script and according to him, Trivikram himself approached him to write the dialogues for the film, but now, Rana announced the movie without Gunasekhar which didn't go well with the filmmaker.## Gunasekhar took to Twitter to vent out his anger saying, "While making God the central theme of your story, you must also keep in mind that God keeps an eye on your integrity. Samantha Ruth Prabhu's 'Shaakuntalam' Bombs At The Box Office

Hyderabad, April 17 - Lady superstar Samantha Ruth Prabhu's big-budget fantasy mythological drama film Shaakuntalam has turned out to be a major disappointment at the box office everywhere. ## The movie, directed by Gunasekhar, is based on a popular play Abhignyana Shakuntalam by Kalidasa. Samantha plays the titular role while Dev Mohan features as Dushyanta in the film which was billed as a Disneyfied adventure like never before. ## Made on a budget of around 70 crores, Shaakuntalam was one of the most anticipated films at the time it was announced and was also carrying huge expectations as far as the box office is concerned. However, as seen with other films, the long delay in production made it a less exciting film. ## There wasn't much excitement among the audiences around the release of the film, however, it was still expected to fetch a good opening considering Samantha's presence but it didn't happen as it took one of the lowest starts of just approx. 3.20 crores gross for a Telugu movie featuring a prominent star. ## The critics as well as the general audience came hard at it and called the film a painful watch for not doing justice to the popular play. After such poor reviews, the hope of growing at the box office over the weekend also got blurred as it made only around 6.70 crores gross domestically in all languages. ## The overseas collection is also poor with around 2 crores for the total worldwide collection of approx. 8.70 crores. Hyderabad, February 10 - Lady superstar Samantha Ruth Prabhu's long-awaited historical romantic drama film "Shaakuntalam" has been dealing with multiple delays as far as the release date is concerned. The movie being VFX heavy is taking longer than expected time in the post-production. ## Directed by Gunasekhar, "Shaakuntalam" is now confirmed to hit big screens worldwide on April 14, 2023, in multiple languages.
