Box Office: Top Gun Maverick Becomes 10th Highest-Grossing Film In North America
Los Angeles, July 20 - Tom Cruise's action thriller Top Gun Maverick continues its record-breaking spree at the box office, despite running in its 8th week. ## Directed by Joseph Kosinski, "Top Gun 2" recently surpassed the initial box office record of James Cameron's "Titanic and now, the blockbuster sequel has stormed into top 10 highest-grossing films of all time at the North American box office by crossing "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". ## "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", which was released in 2017, scored $620.2 million in North America. The Tom Cruise-starrer movie grossed $620.10 million through Monday. As per the estimates, the movie stands at $622 million, including the collection on Tuesday (July 19). ## The highest-grossing film of Tom Cruise's career will not stop by surpassing "Star Wars TLJ" only. Today, it will cross "The Avengers" ($623.4M) to become the 9th highest-grossing movie in Hollywood history. The movie is currently tracking to earn over $660 million in its lifetime domestic run, which will make it the 7th highest-grossing film in North America. ## Meanwhile, the Paramount Pictures film is super strong at the overseas box office as well with a collection to date is $620.6 million, for a worldwide total of $1.24 billion.
