IPL 2019: Team Of The Tournament

Another season of Indian Premier League is just one match away from reaching to its conclusion. The final is set to take place on Sunday (May 12) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad between the two most successful teams of the IPL history and three times champions each, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.## Here is our team of the tournament:## 1. David Warner (SRH)## It has been a quite emotional season for the Australian left-hander who was making his comeback after missing out the previous season due to the Newlands' ball-tampering scandal last year. But he returned and returned with a bang. Smashing 692 runs in 12 innings with an average of 69.20 and strike rate of 143.87 including a century and 8 fifties. This year, he paired with England's Jonny Bairstow and both were quite sensational together. Even in 2017, Warner was the highest run-getter of the tournament with 641 runs 14 innings.## 2. KL Rahul (KXIP)## After getting a slow start in the first few matches, KL Rahul really took off and saw his 2018 version after that. Despite Kings XI Punjab not making to the playoffs just like the previous season, Rahul has had an impressive season with the bat. He smashed 593 runs in 14 innings with an average of 53.91 and strike rate of 135.38. He managed to get those runs with the help of a century and 6 half-centuries.## 3. Shreyas Iyer (DC)## It's been a landmark year for Shreyas Iyer not only as a batsman but also as a captain. Under Shreyas Iyer's captaincy, Delhi Capitals reached to the playoffs for the first time since 2012. However, he couldn't take DC to its first final but did remarkably well to take a young side to thus far. He impressed with the bat as well and smashed 463 runs in 16 innings with an average of 30.86 and hit 3 fifties.## 4. Rishabh Pant (DC)## The 21-year old may have not matured enough but had won Delhi Capitals 3 or 4 matches singlehandedly. The second highest run-getter of 2018, Rishabh Pant smashed the second fastest fifty (18 balls) of the tournament. Pant scored 488 runs in 16 innings with the thunderous strike rate of 162.66.## 5. Andre Russell (KKR)## Not many have the power of winning the game from the almost dead situation unless he is Andre Russell. The IPL 2019 will be remembered for Russell's brutal striking. The big man from West Indies was in different zone throughout the season and made 510 runs in 13 innings with the strike rate of 204.81. In first few matches, his scores were 49* off 19 balls vs SRH, 48 off 17 balls vs KXIP, 62 off 28 balls vs DC, 48* off 13 balls vs RCB. Quite unimaginable!## 6. MS Dhoni (CSK)## When it comes to finishing the game, no one knows better than MS Dhoni how to do that. Against Royal Challengers Bangalore when CSK needed 26 to win off the last 6 balls, Dhoni nearly did something unthinkable as CSK remained just two runs short of the target. Well, on the bigger note, CSK will play its 8th final out of the 10 seasons they played and the skipper played an important role in that with 414 runs in 11 innings with an average of 103.50 and strike rate of 137.54.## 7. Hardik Pandya (MI)## One of Mumbai Indians' key players Hardik Pandya has emerged as the genuine all-rounder this season. He seems to be the only competitor of Andre Russell in terms of the strike rate. His best effort came against Kolkata Knight Riders when he blasted 91 off 34 balls in chasing 233. However, Mumbai Indians couldn't cross the line but by then, Pandya has already played one of the best knocks in IPL history. He has scored 386 runs in 14 innings with the strike rate of 193 and also been impressive with his bowling as well and picked 14 wickets in 15 matches.## 8. Shreyas Gopal (RR)## The only bowler to take the wickets of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the same innings on three occasions, Shreyas Gopal has been the biggest positive for Rajasthan Royals this year. He is also the contender of the emerging player of the tournament. In 14 matches, Gopal picked 20 wickets including the hat-trick against RCB.## 9. Imran Tahir (CSK)## With one of the trademark celebrations after taking the wicket, Imran Tahir has played an important role in CSK's success this year. His economy rate (6.65) has been one of the best in IPL 2019. In 16 matches so far, Tahir has picked 24 wickets and only behind his fellow countryman Kagiso Rabada.## 10. Kagiso Rabada (DC)## The champion bowler from South Africa is the leading wicket-taker with 25 wickets in 12 matches. The world saw his brilliance when he defended 10 runs against the likes of Russell in the super over. However, an injury ended his memorable season with DC but he ensured that DC reached to the playoffs for the first time since 2012.## 11. Jasprit Bumrah (MI)## No playing XI is complete without Jasprit Bumrah who's brilliance with new balls as well as in the death is unbelievable. It was Bumrah who played the biggest part in Mumbai Indians' title triumph against Chennai Super Kings with the figures of 4-0-14-2. Mumbai Indians were restricted to below par total but Bumrah, with his brilliance in the death overs denied CSK to win as MI completed narrowest 1-run win to lift the title for the record 4th time. Bumrah ended the season with 19 wickets in 16 matches with an outstanding economy of 6.63.## Follow for more...

IPL 2019: 5 Indian Emerging Players Of The Tournament

Indian Premier League 2019 has come into its last week. With a lot of entertainment in the last one and a half month, the 12th edition of the tournament has emerged one of the best in its history. There have been so many great performances in this period that make this tournament a successful one.## IPL is all about emerging young talents. It is the platform where young players showcase their skills and talent they possess. The 12th edition is no different from that where young players compete with big ones and impressed everyone with their performances.## Here we will take the list of five Indian players who have impressed and showed the skills of competing with the world's best players on the biggest stage.## 1. Riyan Parag (RR) - Riyan Parag is just a 17-year old from Guwahati, Assam (India). There is something about the right-hand batting all-rounder that makes him a watch me out player. His calmness and maturity he has shown under pressure, speak for him. One of the stars in India's U-19 World Cup triumph last year, Parag became the youngest player in IPL history to struck his maiden fifty. In 5 innings of 7 matches, he has scored 160 runs with an average of 32 and has taken 2 wickets. Although Rajasthan Royals failed to make to the playoffs, Parag is one of the contenders to win the Emerging player of the tournament award. ## 2. Shubman Gill (KKR) - Already having the experience of playing at the International level, Shubman Gill is definitely the future of Indian cricket. One of the key reasons for Kolkata Knight Riders' failure that they didn't play Gill at the top order in the first leg of the tournament. They did rectify their error and give him chance to open the innings and he didn't let them down. In 13 innings of 14 matches, Gill has scored 296 runs with an average of 32.88. The 19-year old Firozpur, Punjab has the potential to become the next big thing in Indian cricket.## 3. Shreyas Gopal (RR) - Well, in the era of wrist spinners Shreyas Gopal is another edition in that list. He is has had a dream season where he finished on 3rd in the leading wicket-takers of the tournament (excluding playoff matches) with 20 wickets in 14 matches. He is one of the only few bowlers to take Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers' wicket in the same innings and he has done that on three occasions.## 4. Khaleel Ahmed (SRH) - Khaleel Ahmed's strength is the pace and accuracy. Currently, he is probably the best left-arm pacer in India. He has already taken 17 wickets 8 matches so far in IPL 2019. The 21-year old from Tonk, Rajasthan, Khaleel Ahmed was the member of India squad of U-19 World Cup 2016. Though he has had an ordinary tournament but did enough to make it to the Indian Premier League 2018. He is one of the main contenders for the emerging player award this time around.## 5. Rahul Chahar (MI) - Another player from Rajasthan who according to some former players, will seeing playing for India very soon. At Wankhede where the pitch does not offer much for the spinners and generally has been good for the batting, Rahul Chahar has been impressive for Mumbai Indians despite not getting enough purchase for the deck. Although he has taken 10 wickets in 10 matches, his economy (7.17) has been brilliant this season.## Follow for more...

His ability to play the shots all-around the park makes the most dangerous batsman in T20 cricket. In 2016, against the Gujrat Lions, AB de Villiers smashed 129 off 52-balls. He paired with Virat Kohli, probably the best two best limited-overs batsmen in the world at the time. The duo struck record 229-runs partnership in RCB's mammoth total of 248. There Have Been Some Outstanding Changes In My Life - Mohammed Shami

Not long ago Mohammed Shami was not even part of India's ODI set-up and was nowhere close to the World Cup squad. But as it is said, "You can cut all the flowers but you cannot keep Spring from coming", Mohammed Shami's journey perfectly fit in this who will now be the part of India's World Cup squad and likely to lead the pace attack along with Jasprit Bumrah.## However, the path hasn't been easy for Shami whose career has been affected by injuries. Hence, he has been in and out from ODIs. But his recent form in white ball cricket has forced the selectors to get him in the 15-member squad. Since October 2018, Shami has picked up 22 wickets in 13 ODIs, the joint-most for an Indian fast bowler along with Bhuvneshwar.## "If you have seen in the last 18 months, I have continuously worked on my fitness and have been constantly trying to improve my game, on what will be better for my team. Yes, I was a bit heavy after my injury and didn't play ODIs for an extended time. But I have played ODIs recently, especially in the last six months there have been some outstanding changes in my life," Shami said on Monday (April 15) during a press conference ahead of Kings XI Punjab's match against Rajasthan Royals.## World cup in England & Wales will be Shami's second after the World cup 2015 in Australia & New Zealand as a player. In the previous edition, he was the second highest wicket-taker for India after Umesh Yadav (18) and 4th overall with 17 wickets in 7 matches. But injuries ruled him out from the ODIs after the tournament. Now, he is fully fit and running hard.## "I am happy with whatever I have achieved. I lost so much of weight, my body has that flow now and the rhythm, I feel, is similar to when I started (my career). I will try to maintain the same rhythm in the future for the World Cup. Like you've seen, there's a lot of difference (with my bowling) when compared to before, say three years back. I have done a lot of hard work, I've worked with the coaches and the confidence that I got with the Indian team, backing me when I was trying to improve my fitness levels, the management, the NCA, they all backed mine with all their heart. I was also dedicated to taking on the fitness challenge in front of me, I accepted that and the result is now in front of you," he added. ## Shami believes that his confidence has only increased after the successful World Cup 2015 for him. "I'm very happy that I have got a second chance in a World Cup. As far as performance is concerned, the way I had performed in 2015, how I approached it with confidence, I am hoping that there's increased confidence in me. And whatever confidence that I have, in terms of my performance in the last seven-eight months, I want to carry that confidence and put my best foot forward for my team."## All the Indian players including Shami who get selected in World Cup squad are playing in Indian Premier League. Shami who is leading the Kings XI Punjab is the leading wicket-taker for his side. He believes that IPL is good for the World Cup preparations. "Playing these matches (in the IPL) help in terms of fitness and mental preparation. It's a challenging tournament before the World Cup and the IPL is very helpful in the preparation, mentally and physically."## Follow for more...

Top 5 Most Successful Captain In IPL History

Indian Premier League has seen so many captains over the last 12 years. Some have been so successful and become the synonym of success while some couldn't make their mark at the biggest stage. It is often said that a captain is as good as a team but sometimes, a good captain makes a team look good with his smart moves during the game.## In IPL, a few captains have been able to change that scenario and have been so successful with even an ordinary team. Now, the question should be raised who is the best captain among them? Well, for that we need to look back at the records.## Here is the list of TOP 5 most successful captain in IPL (accroding to win %, 50+ matches):## 1. MS Dhoni (CSK, RPS) - Mahendra Singh Dhoni doesn't need the second introduction. He is the only captain in IPL to win 100 matches as captain. There are only a few captains in the world who have been as successful as MS Dhoni. He is the only captain in the world who has won T20I World Cup, 50-over World Cup and Champions Trophy as captain and without a doubt has one of the smartest minds in cricket.## Chennai Super Kings has become a brand in the IPL and MS Dhoni is probably the biggest reason for that. He is captaining CSK since the first season (2008) and has led his side winning the title on three occasions while four times CSK has been runner-up in nine seasons they have played. There is no other team being as successful as CSK and Dhoni without a doubt is the main reason for it.## A statical view at his captaincy record in IPL## SpanMatchesWonLostTiedNRWin % 2008-19 174 104 69 0 1 60.11 ## 2. Sachin Tendulkar (MI) - The legend of the game and arguably the greatest batsman after Sir Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar is one of only two Indian players who has won player of the tournament award in IPL. He was the first ever captain for Mumbai Indians and captained for three years.## However, Mumbai Indians couldn't win during Tendulkar's captaincy period but he led MI to the finals in 2010 only to lose against Chennai Super Kings. One of the icon players, Sachin Tendulkar was the player of the tournament in 2010.## A statical view at his captaincy record in IPL## SpanMatchesWonLostTiedNRWin % 2008-11 51 30 21 0 0 58.82 ## 3. Rohit Sharma (MI) - Mumbai Indians is probably the only team who has dominated Chennai Super Kings and has been the most successful team since Rohit Sharma has taken the captaincy in 2013. The team has seen some great players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya, Shaun Pollack but they couldn't take the team to glory until Rohit takes the charge.## Since 2013, Mumbai Indians has won three titles in 2013, 2015, and 2017. Rohit Sharma also has similarities of Dhoni who keep his head calm under pressure and that helped him become one of the most successful captains in IPL history.## A statical view at his captaincy record in IPL## SpanMatchesWonLostTiedNRWin % 2013-19 104 60 42 2 0 58.65 ## 4. Shane Warne (RR) - The first ever captain to lift an IPL Trophy, Shane Warne took an ordinary team Rajasthan Royals to glory. A team without star players has its name in the history book. Shane Warne showed the world that even without star players can reach the heights. However, 2008 success is alone standing glory for RR as they could never repeat the same kind of success again.## A statical view at his captaincy record in IPL## SpanMatchesWonLostTiedNRWin % 2008-11 55 30 24 1 0 55.45 ## 5. Gautam Gambir (DD, KKR) - Gautam Gambhir started his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils. And soon become captain after the first season. However, he couldn't be successful with DD as captain. Time changes and he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011 and immediately given the captaincy. In his first attempt as KKR captain, he led his side to playoffs.## KKR's 2011 performance was enough to prove Gambhir's potential as captain and didn't take a long time to convert his potential into glory. In 2012 and 2014, Gambhir led KKR to title triumph and became KKR's most loved face. There is no doubt Gambhir has been the Piccaso of KKR's IPL journey.## A statical view at his captaincy record in IPL## SpanMatchesWonLostTiedNRWin % 2009-18 129 71 57 1 0 55.42 ## Note - Data as of 13th May 2019 ## Follow for more...
