IPL 2021 Registered Record TV Viewership, Announces BCCI Secretary Jay Shah

Mumbai, September 30 - The Indian Premier League is one of the most celebrated and watched cricket leagues in the world. The tournament has been a center of attraction for not only players but also for the media people and sponsors.## The IPL 2021, which is currently being played in the UAE, has been a big hit on television. The reduced capacity in the ground is turning into a record viewership on tv. BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah on Thursday (September 30) announced that the tournament has registered a significant viewership as compare to the last season, which was also played in the UAE. ## According to Shah, IPL 2021 has already hit a massive 380 million television viewers till the match number 35. The current viewership numbers are 12 million than 2020 tournament at the same stage. After India, Virat Kohli Decides To Step Down As RCB Captain After IPL 2021

Mumbai, September 19, 2021: A couple of days after announcing that he will give up India's T20I captaincy after the T20 World Cup 2021, Virat Kohli has now announced that he will step down as Royal Challengers Bangalore captain as well after the IPL 2021. ## While announcing that he will step down as RCB captain, Kohli told RCB in his announcement video, "This will be my last IPL as captain of RCB. I'll continue to be an RCB player till I play my last IPL game. I thank all the RCB fans for believing in me and supporting me". ## "I would like to take this opportunity to thank the RCB management, coaches, support staff, players, and the entire RCB family, who have been instrumental in the growth of the franchise over the years. IPL 2021 Set To Resume In United Arab Emirates

Mumbai, May 29, 2021: The Indian Premier League 2021, which was postponed after the first half due to the covid-19, is all set to resume in the United Arab Emirates, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Saturday. ## The decision was taken at a Special General Meeting (SGM) held virtually, considering the monsoon season in India in the months of September-October this year. The remaining 31 matches will now be played in UAE, which also had hosted the 2020 IPL behind closed doors. ## The BCCI SGM further authorized the Office Bearers to seek an extension of time from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to take an appropriate call on the hosting of ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The BCCI thinks that it will explore all possibilities to host it in India itself. ## The ICC has slated its meeting on June 1 to decide the fate of the T20I Worl Cup, but the world body may have to defer the decision on moving the October 18-November 15 tournament out of India in view of the BCCI's request. ## Stay tuned...

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 has been suspended indefinitely following the rise in cases of COVID-19 within the bio bubble.## Yesterday, Kolkata Knight Riders' Varun Chakroborty and Sandeep Warrior came positive for the coronavirus which led the KKR match against RCB to be rescheduled. However, the latest development to trigger a total rethink on the tournament is the positive COVID-19 test result of Sunrisers Hyderabad's Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals' Amit Mishra.## Around 12 noon, the top officials of the BCCI were to meet to take a final call on the fate of the tournament with rescheduling the entire tournament being one of the agenda points. The BCCI had contemplated moving the remaining IPL to one city but the latest development has not left BCCI with much options. ## It is said that BCCI asked a few franchises to know their views on the tournament's future. IPL 2021: BCCI Announces Schedule For VIVO IPL 2021

The IPL Governing Council on Sunday announced the schedule for VIVO Indian Premier League 2021 to be held in India. After nearly two years, the IPL extravaganza will return home with Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai & Kolkata, have been picked to hosting the tournament.## The 14th season will kickstart on 9th April 2021 in Chennai with defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore. The newly-built Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the Playoffs as well as the final on 30th May 2021. ## Each team is set to play at four venues during the league stage. Out of the 56 league matches, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata & Bengaluru will host 10 matches each while Ahmedabad and Delhi will host 8 matches each. All the matches will be played at neutral venues, which means, no home advantage for any team. All teams will play at 4 out of 6 venues during the league stage. ## There will be a total of 11 doubleheaders where 6 teams will play three-afternoon matches & two teams will play two-afternoon matches. The afternoon games are slated for a 3:30 PM IST to start while the evening games will have a 7:30 PM IST start.## The fixtures of the tournament have been scheduled in a way that every team will travel only three times during the league stage.
