Box Office: 'Sonic 2' Becomes The Highest Grossing Video Game Movie In The USA History

Los Angeles, May 1 - Americans love video game movies, and the latest action-adventure comedy film, "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" has proved that. Based on the video game franchise published by Sega, "Sonic 2" has become the highest-grossing movie in USA history. ## Directed by Jeff Fowler, "Sonic 2" has overtaken its predecessor with $152 million through Saturday (April 30) and it is now at the top of the box office for a movie adapted from a video game. Warner Bros. And Sony Pictures Pulled 'The Batman' & 'Morbius' Russia Release

Mumbai, March 1 - Warner Bros. has decided to pause the release of its highly-anticipated DC movie, "The Batman" in Russia amid the continuous invasion of Ukraine. "The Batman", starring Robert Pattinson, was slated for March 3rd release in Russia, which has now been pulled at the 11th hour.## "In light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, WarnerMedia is pausing the release of its feature film The Batman in Russia", a WarnerMedia spokesperson said in a statement. "We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to this tragedy". ## Apart from Warner Bros., Sony Pictures has also taken a decision to not release its upcoming movies in Russia, including the high-profile Marvel pic "Morbius", starring Jared Leto. "Morbius" was slated for January 28 release this year, but now, postponed to April 1st.## "Given the ongoing military action in Ukraine and the resulting uncertainty and humanitarian crisis unfolding in that region, we will be pausing our planned theatrical releases in Russia, including the upcoming release of Morbius", a Sony spokesperson said late Monday.## Russia has been one of the biggest international markets for Hollywood films. 'Big Little Lies' director Jean-Marc Vallee dies at 58

Los Angeles, Dec 27 (IANS) Jean-Marc Vallee, the Quebecois director of films, including 'Dallas Buyers Club' and TV projects such as 'Big Little Lies', died at his cabin in Canada. He was 58. ## The cause of death was not immediately known, reports variety.com. ## His producing partner, Nathan Ross, said in a statement: "Jean-Marc stood for creativity, authenticity and trying things differently. He was a true artist and a generous, loving guy. Everyone who worked with him couldn't help but see the talent and vision he possessed." ## "He was a friend, creative partner and an older brother to me. The maestro will sorely be missed but it comforts knowing his beautiful style and impactful work he shared with the world will live on." ## Vallee earned an Oscar nomination for best editing for 2013's 'Dallas Buyers Club', which won Oscars for Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey. The film was based on the true story of Ron Woodroof, an AIDS patient who smuggled pharmaceutical drugs into Texas and distributed them to fellow AIDS patients through the 'Dallas Buyers Club'. ## The next year, he directed 'Wild' starring Reese Witherspoon. ## He continued to work with Witherspoon on the series 'Big Little Lies', for which he won the Emmy for directing a limited series, movie or special. ## His next project was another suspenseful mini-series based on a popular book, 'Sharp Objects'. ## "Jean-Marc Vallee was a brilliant, fiercely dedicated filmmaker, a truly phenomenal talent who infused every scene with a deeply visceral, emotional truth," said a statement released by HBO. ## "He was also a hugely caring man who invested his whole self alongside every actor he directed. Jared Leto's superhero adventure Morbius has been delayed again to avoid a clash with the Bond film. A Spider-Man spinoff, Morbius was slated to release on October 8. It has now moved to January 21, 2022. ## No Time To Die brings back Craig as the iconic spy James Bond for his final outing. The 25th Bond adventure will see Craig revisiting his past, bringing it to the present in order to save the future.
