Jio Cinema Offers Lowest Subscription Plan In India

Mumbai, April 25 - Amid the steady decline in the popularity of digital platforms and to challenge other platforms in India, Mukesh Ambani's JioCinema on April 25 announced a significant two-third reduction in prices for its premium services for Indian customers. ## According to Mint, JioCinema premium subscription will now be available for as low as Rs. 29 per month for a single device and Rs. 89 per month for four devices in India. Previously, the platform offered its premium service at ₹99/month or ₹999/annually for streaming on up to four devices simultaneously. ## The new monthly subscription plan of Jio Cinema is almost 10X lower than the second-lowest Amazon Prime Video and Sony Liv which offer the premium plan at Rs. 299/month. Netflix, which is already facing difficulties in making a big impact in India, has the costliest premium plan Rs. 649/month. ## The new JioCinema plan includes online and offline viewing, in 4K quality, for foreign movies, TV series and kids' programming on any device in five languages. IMDb Unveils Top 10 Most Popular Indian Movies (Streaming) of 2023

Mumbai, November 30 - The second instalment of the anthology film Lust Stories has been the most popular Indian streaming film of 2023 so far, as per the IMDb rating which is determined by the page views on the website. The movies on the list are the ones released between the period of January 1 - November 6. ## Lust Stories 2, which was released on June 29, scored 18.5 million viewing hours in the first three weeks on Netflix. Even though the numbers are lower than many films released this year on Netflix, the film attracted audience attention due to its solid casting and content. ## Kareena Kapoor's Jaane Jaan is the second most popular Indian streaming movie of the year. It was a big success for Netflix and in the first three weeks, it scored 38 million viewing hours. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, it is the crime investigation thriller which marked Kareena's OTT debut. ## The third most popular streaming movie of the year is Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna's spy actioner Mission Majnu, which is again a Netflix movie. The movie was originally announced for the theatrical release before makers changed their plans to release it directly on OTT. ## Amazon Prime Video's Bawaal starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor is the 4th most popular Indian streaming title. Just like "Mission Majnu", this Nitesh Tiwari's directorial was also meant for theatrical release but was made available on Prime Video. Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani's 'Dunki' Post-Theatrical OTT Rights Sold To Jio Cinema For Record-Price?

Mumbai, July 8 - Director Rajkumar Hirani's maiden film with superstar Shah Rukh Khan, "Dunki" is one of the hugely anticipated films in the making. It is a social comedy-drama film based on the rampant use of an illegal backdoor route called 'Donkey Flight' to immigrate to countries like Canada and the USA. ## "Dunki" is scheduled to release during the Christmas weekend this year and it is expected to be one of the biggest hits of Indian cinema. The movie is currently the post-production work and in between, the makers have already reportedly locked the non-theatrical rights of the film. ## It was recently reported that the non-theatrical rights of "Dunki" have been sold in a whopping amount of approx. 230 crores, and now, it has been revealed that the streaming rights alone have fetched 155 crores, making it the biggest post-theatrical OTT deal for an Indian movie in a single language. ## According to Bollywood Hungama, "Dunki" will be streaming on Jio Cinema after its theatrical release. "This is the biggest deal in the history of Indian Cinema for a film released in a single language. It has got a lot to do with the brand of Rajkumar Hirani coming together with the brand of Shah Rukh Khan", says the report. ## "Dunki" is a co-production of SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment with Rajkumar Hirani Films. Mumbai, April 29 - The leading Hollywood studio, Warner Bros. Discovery has partnered with India's Mukesh Ambani-backed Viacom18 to bring HBO, Max Originals, and Warner Bros. content to India through Jio Cinema.## Jio Cinema, which is already taking giant steps in the Indian digital space, has further strengthened its position among other platforms like Amazon, Disney+Hotstar, and Netflix. The deal between Warner Bros. and Viacom18 has the potential to change the landscape of the Indian OTT as Warner Bros. shows are hugely popular in India. ## As per the reports, the licensing agreement with Warner Bros., estimated to cost Viacom18 over $20 million annually, highlights Ambani's growing efforts to establish JioCinema as a dominant streaming platform in India's otherwise crowded market.## The deal is said to be for three years, unlike the previous Warner Bros. deal with Disney Plus Hotstar which was for the longer term. Mumbai, April 27 - Viacom18 and Warner Bros. Discovery have signed a multi-year deal to bring HBO, Max Original, and Warner Bros. content to Indian viewers via Jio Cinema from May this year. Disney-owned Star TV was the previous home of WBD content, but the deal with Star expired at the end of March this year.## The new landmark deal includes current and future seasons of HBO, Max Originals, and Warner Bros. shows. The upcoming television series will premiere on JioCinema on the same day as the U.S., making them exclusive to Indian viewers. There are a handful of shows which will be available on Jio Cinema from May this year. ## HBO's "House of The Dragon", "The Last of Us", "Succession" and "The White Lotus" will be made available to watch on Jio Cinema along with the returning seasons of "True Detective: Night Country", "Euphoria", "Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty", and "Perry Mason".## The HBO original series including "The Idol", "White House Plumbers", "The Sympathizer" and "The Regime", and library titles "Game of Thrones", "Sex & The City", "Big Little Lies", "Chernobyl" and "Veep" has also found a home at Jio Cinema.## Max Original series including "And Just Like That...", "Peacemaker" and "The Flight Attendant", premieres such as "Dune: The Sisterhood", "The Batman" spinoff "The Penguin" and "Duster", as well Warner Bros.
