'Avengers: Endgame' Director Heaps High Praise On SS Rajamouli's 'RRR'

Mumbai, April 18 - Maverick filmmaker, Joe Russo who has worked on a few record-breaking Marvel movies with his brother Anthony Russo, has heaped high praise on SS Rajamouli's Oscar-winning period action drama film RRR and India being a major market for the world cinema. ## In a conversation with the Hollywood website, Deadline at an International festival in Scotland, Joe Russo heaped praise for Rajamouli's RRR and said, "Certainly a more diverse version and one that's more international", adding that RRR has given huge exposure to the Indian films in international markets. ## "Bollywood, for instance, is one of the more significant film businesses in the world but it has extremely minimal exposure outside of India. Thank God for movies like RRR, using a level of technical genius, visual effects, and mythological storytelling to appeal to a much wider audience. We learn about other cultures from movies like that. So, I guess, our goal would be empowerment. We want to support other markets as much as possible so their stories can get through in a broader way", the Avengers Endgame director said (via DNA). ## The filmmaker previously revealed that he watched "RRR" and absolutely loved it. It stars Ram Charan and Jr. NTR as two real-life Indian revolutionaries named Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, respectively. The film shows how the friendship grows between them and how they fight together to free the country from the rule of the Britishers.## Joe along with his brother Antony has a huge influence over Marvel's audience worldwide, thanks to films like "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", "Avengers Infinity War" and "Avengers Endgame". The duo is currently busy with the promotion of the spy thriller series "Citadel" for Amazon Prime Video. It stars Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden in the lead and is set to premiere on April 28, 2023.## Stay tuned...

"I don't know if these numbers have ever been accurately reported but in the case of Avengers: Endgame or Infinity War, each of those movies was $500 million-plus. The Russo Brothers Tease Marvel Studios Return

Los Angeles, October 27 - Even though the Marvel movies have been helmed some of the finest Hollywood directors, Joe and Anthony Russo aka Russo Brothers are probably the most successful of them. The director duo has directed fours Marvel movies such as Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: Civil War, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which not only became popular but also were commercially successful. ## Despite being so successful with Marvel, the Russo Brothers haven't worked on any other Marvel project since Endgame. However, in the new book "The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe", it's noted the Russos "softly retired" from the MCU after Endgame largely to make films under their own banner (AGBO). ## However, the book further adds that "there's an expectation that someday they'll work with Marvel Studios again". Stating the reason for their possible MCU comeback, Joe Russo says the Kevin Feige-led outfit is made up of the best collaborators they've had in Hollywood.## "We laugh a lot, and that's really important. We all have a very similar sense of humor, and we spent a lot of time making jokes with each other and enjoying each other's company during very long, difficult hours, whether in the story room, on set, or in the editing room. Everyone's very supportive and encouraging of one another", Joe added. ## "You can't undertake something as significant as the two most expensive movies ever made, back-to-back, without that kind of environment. You just wouldn't survive. There's no other way through it than with warmth and laughter", he said. ## Anthony Russo adds another reason the brothers love the studio is because of its commitment to the comic book source material. "It starts with their very specific passion for the material," he says. "That's a big part of it. Because of the connectivity, they have between what they do, what they say, what they think, and the actual work—it's all in synchronicity. It's all connected. For as hard as these movies were to make, the process with them could not have been easier", he said. ## Stay tuned...

Joe Russo: India rarely seen in international action films

New Delhi, April 21 (IANS) "Avengers: Endgame" co-director Joe Russo says India is a beautiful country but its locales are rarely been tapped in modern international action films.## Russo is glad that he got a chance to capture the beauty of the country in Netflix's upcoming action film "Extraction".## "India is a beautiful country. It is also rarely seen in a modern international action film. Some beautiful cultural aspects of the story (in ‘Extraction') would be enriched by setting in India and it does really pay off beautifully in the film," Joe said in a video, released by Netflix before the release of the film.## Originally titled "Dhaka", the film revolves around Tyler Rake (essayed by Chris Hemsworth), a fearless, black market mercenary, who embarks on the most deadly extraction of his career when he is enlisted to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord. It has been shot extensively in India, along with other places around the world. It is directed by Sam Hargrave.## It also stars Indian actors Randeep Hooda, Pankaj Tripathi, Priyanshu Painyulli, and Rudraksh Jaiswal. The screenplay of the film is done by Joe Russo. The film is produced by Russo Brothers (Joe and Anthony Russo), Mike Larocca, Chris Hemsworth, Eric Gitter, and Peter Schwerin.## In the clip, Hargrave is seen embracing Indian traditions and praying before starting the film.## "We started the day with a traditional Indian blessing. They infused the production with a lot of Indian traditions," Hargrave said in the clip.## Looking back at his time in India, Hemsworth said: "Here we are in India. We are on the set of our movie for Netflix. Aesthetically, I think this film is beyond unique. So vibrant and full of movement. I don't think anyone shot a film like this here before. The public would turn up in thousands to watch us shoot. Every time they would call cut, they would cheer and clap. It was like being in a coliseum or something."## "Extraction" will release on April 24.## Stay tuned...
