Disney's Next 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Film Rumoured To Be In The Making With Johnny Depp

Los Angeles, February 18 - Disney has been trying to make the next film in the fantasy supernatural swashbuckler series, Pirates of the Caribbean for a long time but there hasn't been a concrete development on the same yet. ## One of the main reasons for the film getting delayed is Disney's highly publicized fallout following Johnny Depp's defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard. The studio parted ways with Depp before the actor won the legal battle and proved himself innocent.## In one of the interviews last year, producer Jerry Bruckheimer said that the next film of the franchise could go in two different directions as there were two alternative scripts - one that could bring Depp back into the frame and another that would move in a different direction. ## It hasn't been that easy as Depp, after that infamous fallout, went on to say that he would never return to Disney no matter what. Well, it has been a long time since he said that and things might have eased between them, as per the latest rumours. ## According to the report by The DisInsider, Depp might be headlining the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean which the studio is planning to start rolling soon at one Hollywood sound stage. The website further stated that there is no timeline for when production will officially begin but heard that it would feature Depp in his returning role.## Meanwhile, a few year back, it was reported that Margot Robbie would star in a female-led reboot, which is not intended to be a spinoff, but a new story, with new characters set in the Pirates universe. It is still in the plans at Disney and might be made at some point in time. ## Stay tuned...

Johnny Depp Responds To Hollywood's Boycott Calls Against Him

Cannes, May 17 - Johnny Depp's first leading role in nearly three years, the French movie Jeanne du Barry got a 7-minute standing ovation at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. ## "Jeanne du Barry", in which Depp plays King Louis XV, marks the actor's first film in three years, following his long legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp won the battle but not before losing multiple big Hollywood projects, including "Fantastic Beasts". ## During the legal tussle, many Hollywood studios parted their ways from Depp though some of them now seem to be willing to work with him. During the press conference for "Jeanne du Barry" today at Cannes, Depp was asked about how he feels about Hollywood's boycott calls against him and Depp appeared to have mixed feelings about the same. ## "Did I feel boycotted by Hollywood? You'd have to not have a pulse to feel like, 'No. None of this is happening. It's a weird joke'", he said (according to Variety). "When you're asked to resign from a film ("Fantastic Beasts 3") you're doing because of something that is merely a function of vowels and consonants floating in the air, yes you feel boycotted".## He continued, "I don't feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don't think about Hollywood. It's a strange, funny time where everybody would love to be able to be themselves, but they can't. They must fall in line with the person in front of them. If you want to live that life, I wish you the best".## Meanwhile, amid his displeasure with Hollywood, Depp recently signed a $20+ million deal with the French luxury fashion house, Dior. This is said to be the biggest deal ever in men's fragrance. ## Stay tuned...

Margot Robbie's 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Movie Is On, Says The Producer

Mumbai, December 20 - The sun hasn't set on the 6th installment of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, featuring Margot Robbie in the lead. The actress recently said that Disney might not have plans to go ahead with the movie and she lost hope in the film's development. ## Now, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that the movie is on and will definitely see the light of day. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bruckheimer, one of the most successful film producers, said that they have two "Pirates" scripts, one with Robbie and the other one with a younger cast.## "I think we're getting very close on that one, too. We have a very good script. We developed two of them — the one with Margot Robbie and one with a younger cast. The Margot Robbie one needs a little more work. The younger cast one is close. Hopefully, we'll get both of them", the "Top Gun" producer said when asked why the 6th Pirates movie has been tough to crack?## When asked about Margot Robbie's claim of the scrapping of "Pirates 6", Bruckheimer said, "It's alive for me. It's alive for Disney. I'm sure she was disappointed it didn't go first — or maybe not because she's very busy, so it might be a blessing to push this a bit. We believe we'll get it made. It's a very strong story". ## Johnny Depp has been a vital part of the "Pirates" franchise but his legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard brought differences between him and Disney. Now, since the million-dollar lawsuit has settled with a verdict coming in the favor of Depp, there have been rumors about Depp's return to the franchise. ## Bruckheimer said that it is up to Disney to approach Depp again but "I would love to have him in the movie. He's a friend, a terrific actor and it's unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do", he said.## Stay tuned...

Amber Heard Can't Afford To Pay $10M To Johnny Depp, Says Her lawyer

Los Angeles, June 4 - The long legal battle between Johnny Depp and her ex-wife Amber Heard finally came to a conclusion in favor of Depp. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor had filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard for her 2018 Washington Post op-ed. ## The Virginia jury found that the article by Heard defamed Depp and ordered her to pay $10 million in compensatory damages. However, Amber's lawyer Elaine Bredehoft told 'Today' that the actress can't afford to pay such a huge sum to Depp. ## When asked by 'Today' if Heard would be able to afford the $10 million in damages that she's being ordered to pay, Bredehoft answered bluntly, "Oh no. Absolutely not". Bredehoft added that Depp's legal team worked to "demonise" Heard and was able to suppress "an enormous amount of evidence" in the defamation trial.## "A number of things were allowed in this court that should not have been allowed, and it caused the jury to be confused", Bredehoft added. "And the court found there, and we weren't allowed to tell the jury this, but the court found that Mr. Depp had committed at least 12 acts of domestic violence, including sexual violence against Amber".## Amber Heard has countered Depp for $100 million. While she lost most of the arguments, the jury awarded her $2 million after it found one statement by Depp defamatory against her. Bredehoft said that Heard wants to appeal the verdict.## Stay tuned...

Johnny Depp Wins Multimillion Lawsuit Against Ex-Wife Amber Heard

Virginia, June 2 - The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor Johnny Depp has won a multimillion defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard, by a Virginia jury. ## The Virginia jury found that Heard's 2018 article against Depp, published in The Washington Post, was defamatory and ordered her to pay a whopping $15 million to Depp. The actor was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, which was cut by Judge Penney Azcarate to Virginia's statutory cap of $350,000, according to The Hollywood Reporter.## Amber Heard had written an op-ed in The Washington Post in 2018 in which she called herself a domestic abuse survivor against Depp. The latter had sued Heard for $50 million after the article was published, in which she referred to herself as "a public figure representing domestic abuse". Heard too had issued a counter-claim for $100 million over statements calling her allegations a "hoax" made by her ex-husband's attorney which was published in Mail Online stories in 2020.## While Heard lost on two of her three claims, she won on one claim that a statement from Depp's lawyer was defamatory, in which he said that Heard set up an "ambush, a hoax", referencing a visit from law enforcement to the couple's house allegedly initiated by Heard. She was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages but none in punitive damages, reports THR. ## After the verdict was out, Amber Heard took to social to issue her statement. "The disappointment I feel today is beyond words", she said. "I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband". ## On the other hand, Depp celebrated the verdict and said the decision "gave me my life back", in a statement shared on Instagram.## "From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome. Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that". ## Stay tuned...

Johnny Depp Loses $22.5 Million After Getting Removed From 'Pirates Of The Caribbean 6'

Los Angeles, May 3 - Amber Heard's domestic violence allegations against ex-husband Johnny Depp have taken a huge toll on his career which is in doldrum since 2018. ## Depp's agent has now revealed that Depp was set to get a whopping $22.5 million to star in Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean 6", but Disney dropped him from the movie after Amber Heard published an op-ed reviving her domestic abuse allegations, as per Variety.## Jack Whigham, who represented Depp at Creative Artists Agency and later at Range Media Partners, testified that the December 2018 piece in the Washington Post had a "catastrophic" impact on Depp's career. "After the op-ed, it was impossible to get him a studio film", Whigham testified.## Whigham also said that Depp had earned $8 million for "City of Lies", $10 million for "Murder on the Orient Express" and $13.5 million for "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" - all of which were shot in 2017. In 2018, the actor made $1 million for "Waiting for the Barbarians", and was set to receive $3 million for "Minamata".## He testified that the op-ed brought Depp's career success to a halt. "It was a first-person account coming from the victim. It became a death-knell catastrophic thing for Mr. Depp in the Hollywood community". ## However, on cross-examination, Amber Heard's head lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, put out that Depp never had a contract for $22.5 million for "Pirates 6", to which, Whigham admitted that "it would be fair to say I have not seen a document, I have not seen $22.5 million written on a page". ## Stay tuned...

'Aquaman' Star Amber Heard's Ex-Assistant Alleges Actress's Claims Of Physical Abuse Are False

Los Angeles, April 16 - The ongoing legal battle between "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard has taken an interesting turn as Heard's former assistant Kate James has alleged that Heard's claims of physical abuse at the hands of Depp are false. ## Amber Heard is being sued by Johnny Depp, for $50 million, on allegations that she defamed him by describing herself as a "figure representing domestic violence" in a 2018 op-ed in the 'Washington Post'. ## Heard responded to the lawsuit by countersuing Depp and alleging that he physically assaulted her on 10 occasions throughout their relationship. The couple parted ways in 2016, after Heard filed for a protective order in court, with what appeared to be a bruise on her face.## In a prerecorded video presented by Depp's attorneys to the jurors, Kate James, who worked for Heard from 2012 to 2015, argued that she never witnessed Depp and Heard getting into verbal or physical altercations, nor did she notice any evidence of domestic violence during her regular visits to the couple's respective homes.## However, she said Heard did contact her in distress after arriving back at their home in Los Angeles after a private flight with Depp in May 2014. For the said incident, Heard alleged in court filings that Depp kicked her and threw objects at her on the flight because he was upset about a romantic scene she had filmed the day prior with James Franco.## Kate also recalled that he received humiliation from the "Aquaman" actress when she asked for an increased salary. She also said that Heard screamed at her when she pushed back against the $50,000 salary Heard offered.## Stay tuned...
